Helps that my wife is an enabler, she loved both of them. Her only complaint on the hobby is the lack of sexy male figures. I've got a few JoJo and One Piece figures on order, but thats been about it. She did say if they make a 1/2.5 scale Free! figure I'm obligated to order it immediately.

Ugh, I'm probably never going to get my Alter Clalaclan. I wanted to find one in decent condition for 10k or less, but they get snatched up like flies and I think Mandarake noticed. So now they're trying a damaged one for 10k. I'd normally just bite the bullet and snatch one for 12k when I see it, but I'm fairly certain she's EMS only from her weight.

My friend was telling my about a website called http://www.fromjapan.co.jp/ which he uses to ship his AKB orders from Yahoo auctions. He says it also allows him to declare the value of his items so he can set it below the customs rate.
Is such a service worth it for sites like Mandarake or am I better off just shipping directly.

I don't understand the fuss about them. They're neat, but as more of a novelty. Not something I'd pay $100 for.

FJ is a good site, but a proxy isn't necessary for Mandarake, who will also declare a custom value if you ask in the order comments box.
Okay I just wanted to ask. A lot of you have poseable figures. Most of mine are poseable. I just wanted to ask...how often do you mess about and change the pose on your figures? I have mine in awesome poses but like changing my wallpaper and avatar I generally have a good image that I'm happy with but like fiddling about with things. I don't want to move them since they're perfect but I feel the urge to spice them up or as I get more I feel like making them 'interact' with one another more if that makes sense.
Anyone else get that urge? I guess a lot of you have them in glass cabinets so you don't move them unless you dust them. Mine are out in the open in my shelves and on top of my drawers.

It's not just poseable figures. A lot of scaled figures come with alternate faces, accessories and even body parts for the same reason.
Ha yeah that's true. Even a lot of the statue-esque figures come with cool bases and items etc. I always get the urge to touch them but I end up nearly dropping them lmao. And then I see a tiny Mark or something and start sweating "nah that was already there...<_<....>_>" *puts figure back down the way it was and walks away*
And yeah I've used FromJapan before. They're good but for some dumb reason I put the actual cost on instead of undervaluing it. I still didn't pay import duty because the Royal mail fucked up and refunded me it. If you're wondering what it was I bought it was some Shirts from Uniqlo.

I tend to find one really good pose, a pose that best represents the character/robot in question, and keep it like that. I haven't gotten into taking pictures of my figs interacting yet though, need to wait until I get a proper camera.
Yeah that's how I'd like it to be but I get the urge to touch them and change them about. My Canti is in a baddass pose with his poncho on and I love it. Absolutely perfect. But he has a crap load of items that are just sitting in the box that I think have the capability to make some equally epic poses. Feels like a waste. All that articulation and accessories unused ;(
I very rarely ever change my figures' poses. I've changed them a few times when I've cleaned, but generally I find one pose I really like that I have the characters stick to.
Right now I'm having a difficult time deciding on a pose for my Noel Vermillion D-Arts, because... I can only allow perfection for Noel...

Ha I hear ya. I'm happy with my poses overall. Look really stylish. I'm finicky about things like that. It has to be perfect. But with my Gunbuster for example I have him with his arms crossed. Same with my Nono. I love it but I always get the urge to prop them up on a stand and get them to do an Inazuma Kick! But both of them with their arms folded side by side looks awesome. Haha. I guess I'm so busy during the day I don't even have the energy to move them about so that's how I get on.
FromJapan provide a very good service. Fast and everything. But they take a day or two for estimation of prices etc and a 500yen handling fee if I remember correctly. Sites like Mandarake will undervalue items if you ask them. Same with Jungle and Nippon Yassan. Not sure about Amiami. I'd say not?
I'd only use them with sites that don't ship to your country like Uniqlo Japan as I used in an example above

April is looking a bit more cluttered than I'd like with Miku2020 coming out, finally. So I cancelled Kotobukiya Shinobu from HLJ and re-ordered from Amazon. I can wait the extra month, and after shipping, things usually come out to fucking crazy prices from HLJ. Kotobukiya's Kobato cost me over $100 after shipping. WUT?

Sent a note to Amiami to cancel my Play Arts Kai Assassin Creed figures. They've been delayed 3 times now and I just don't feel like giving Square any money anymore. If they cancel my account, so be it...I'll pre order Lucario and the Marvel Figma figs elsewhere. They shipped my RAH Link last week, so if they wanna be that way, so be it.

You would think that they would try to make the poses extra special to equal out the fact that everyone has the same uniform. At least GSC and Koto are making them have interesting stands.
When are we getting our actual Titan figures? Ones that aren't $500. I want Rogue, Armored, and Female Titan scales dammit.

At this point it's becoming the Half-Life 3 of figures.
Yeah, which puts you in an odd position, because you can get try the lottery (which is expensive in itself), or you can wait, because they can (and will) show up in the normal places in Akihabara.
Either way, it makes a number of these expensive and inconvenient to get. I don't buy a great volume of anything so it's okay, though it can often be hard to tell what particular Nendoroids are going to become tricky to obtain. For example, whilst a lot of the limited Miku ones are potentially a little more expensive than the normal models, they are still really affordable in Japan, whilst others - which in my case would be the Girls und Panzer Miho model, seem to be in the higher price range, and also a little rarer.
At least it has a release window, which is more than some figures can say.
All of these KanColle figures. There's no way I'm going to collect them all. As nice as their designs are, there are way too many. I think Shimakaze will be it. :/
Also, I received Princess Bitch and Menace [Queen's Blade] from Mandarake today. SAL shipping sure is slow, I'm so used to EMS. It took close to a month for them to arrive. I'm still waiting for Sansai Muramasa, who was shipped out on the 15th of last month. I'm also still waiting for my redjuice artbook from HS, also shipping via SAL.
I think, from now on, I'll settle for EMS. I'm way too impatient for SAL. >_<

LOL, how much money are you throwing into a black hole for shipping? Also, I notice the number of figures you have listed on order on your MFC profile keeps going up and up, whereas mine keeps going down. XD
Well, to be fair, 90% of my shipments are from AmiAmi and combined, or too large to be shipped via SAL, so EMS is really the only other option. That's why I'm simply not used to the slower SAL shipping method, but I'll likely use it again. I mean, sure it's unfortunate to wait an extra week [or three] for your package, but you do save a lot in the long run.
As for the number of my figures, those are mostly exclusives that are already paid for [such as the Seven Deadly Sins] or ones I purchased on impulse from Mandarake [the only one currently being the Muramasa en-route to me]. A few, such as Holo, I will 95% cancel.
It's actually decreased quite a bit over the month, the last AmiAmi shipment taking around 6 or so off. There are several figures I've held off on pre-ordering, such as Cerberus, so I'm pretty happy about that. But yeah, there's still quite a few in my Ordered list, although a couple of them are smaller figures/Nendoroids. Even still....

Myself, it was comic-related bishoujos that got me back into this hobby, so I'm trying (and succeeding, seemingly) to curb my figure spending back in that direction. I'll always be up for the Dark Angel Olivia-tier figures, and I'm totally salivating over Kotobukiya's Invader Lum. But those types of figures aside, I want my figure collecting to coincide more with my two main hobbies - games and comics.

I know it might not seem like it, but I've actually cut back quite a bit compared to a year ago. There are several figures currently up for pre-order that the 2014 self would already have pre-ordered, such as Cerberus, Maka Albarn, Panty [Orchid Seed], Hakufu Sonsaku [Dragon Toy], Super Sonico - Rock n' Roll Ver, and several more. I know I still purchase more than I should, but at least I'm a bit more restrained than I used to, and hopefully I'll get even better with time.
You're right in it coinciding with your other hobbies, though. Since I'm a gamer as well, and I like to collect other things such as art books, it helps not spending all of your disposable income on figures, despite how much you might want to.

Yeah just got my shipping notification! However its the normal pink color, wish I preordered the green version.
BTW did someone want to get Oshino Shinobu Kotobukiya ? I have her pre-ordered but will sell her if someone wants her. I could attempt to save money.
