Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

i think the only way to buff quality builds is to buff the DEX scaling. my quality build (40/40) feels so weak even when dual stancing (ultra) greatswords.

on the other hand the need to nerf aevelyn and i hope they will never touch my beloved (dual) caestus.
Even if Dex scaled like Str, elementally infused weapons would still scale better damage-wise, even with a quality-build using no buffs. It's even more apparent without any of the scaling to back it up, since elemental weapons dont drop off in scaling as much as a non-elemental weapon would, meaning you could just hit the base requirements of a weapon and use the excess points for Faith/Int, which give you damage scaling based on the element you chose + ability to use powerful spells.

DS1 had a similar problem, and it is kind of weird that they're letting history repeat itself here.

yeah i remember the lighting spear from sens being a monster pve weapon in vanilla DS1.

i wonder how the (dark) crypt sword will turn out.

The only boss I can kinda agree with nerfing is RRA, and not even that much because it's my build that makes him hard because I have slow swinging weapons, only a slight hp nerd was really necessary.

Yeah a homeward bone. Get those candy assess out of here.

Perfect answer. xD

I really didn't think the bosses needed any adjustments in stats...at least downwards. Some of them could actually need a little buff.

The damage and tracking of the Amana casters wasn't the problem for me at all. It's their insane range compared to your measly lock on range. =/

No one has a pure mage build. They all use melee to have any chance in pvp. They only need to invest in the bare minimum stats for STr/DEX, infuse and all of sudden their DMG output will be higher than a melee characters and thats without buffs which they all have.

bascially:

40 STR
40 DEX

is weaker than

40 FTH
40 INT
+ whatever bare stats it needs to be used
infused weapon

the latter build also has spells, items that increase stats like Kings Crown, spices that reduce stat requirements and buffs.

Well done DkS2 team!

Well, i've a pure mage build. They nerfed the mix build ruining completely the pure mage build

They NEED to fucking fix King Vendrick. He is god damn near impossible, even with the Giant Souls.

Best build for me now is base stats for whatever weapon you want and a lot of INT and/or FTH.

Best character I made so far has the stats requirements for my Lightning Claymore +10, 55FTH and 40 ATN, putting some points into END and VIT.

Two hits of the R2 combo with the claymore does 1000+ damage. Lightning, Great Lightning and Sunlight Spear does a TON of damage. Just need the Darlurker chime now.

And we had boss nerfs in the first Dark Souls, don't forget that. Capra Demon was nerfed hard.

So now my character is useless? I had enchanted with Magic, scaling S. No more?

If your any good then no. MLGS with buff would do more dmg that Ultra Greatswords and had an incredibly fast swing and range, making it broken.

Now its more like a long greatsword just how its supposed to be.

Talking pvp yeah? How does anyone survive pure mage when pretty much all the spells can be rolled through.

Wow grym great shield completely trivializes the smelter demon fight. Dat 100% fire resist.

I was having such a rough time before.

yep, I have summoned or been summoned by people and had to ask myself how did they make it this far?
Saving Benhart of Jugo with a Redeye ring one summon at a time.

Yeah, that shield helped me immensely on my first playthrough. Tank all things.

Does anyone else have it where the shield break technique only works 50% of the time? It's like the button presses never register and I just do the standard light attack.

what? It was incredibly easy for me. Just keep going to his back from his left leg. He is painfully slow.
AD
and
Darklurker
, or
Lost Sinner
and
Flexyble Sentry
on NG+ are way worse

I wish they nerfed the whole 'leave orange messages on the ground' thing.

Playing this i have realizad how much I resent having my first run through a level sullied by all the signposting overload that effectively let's you know beforehand every single secret room, hidden bonfire, illusory wall, ambush, etc on every level.

It's the one mechanic in the Souls games I have come to really dislike. I understand where it comes from, I'm sure it seemed novel and fun once, now it's just a forced on-screen level by level tutorial-walkthrough that you can't shake off unless you're willing to go offline and miss on half the fun. I think blood stains and ghosts should provide enough hints and 'asynchronous interconnectedness' with other players for anyone.

Seriously, they should limit the amount of messages left to one or two per player. And for the eventual dlc, I want a covenant focused around invading those who leave the most/higher rated signs so I can punish all the people that defiled my beautiful, mysterious Dark Souls 2 levels ;)

That's the ring that causes aggro right? I remember on NG I was on about my 5th attempt with Smelter Demon with Lucatiel and my Japanese/Chinese/Asian co-op buddy equipped that when she had about 1/4 health left. What a champ.

Not a fan of nerfing Pyro. But I welcome the changes for the NPC summons and bosses. Maybe I'll be able to have a easier time with Lost Sinner in NG+ with Luca.

Redeye Ring doesn't really work with Smelter. I tested it out and he completely ignores me and goes after Luca. Seems to be common with other players. Wish they fixed that.

Hmm must of been luck then!

nerf dat moonlight greatsword into the ground, from :(

If anything they need to fix the hit box on the frickin' laser beam. I've rolled completely out of the way of it and still manages to hit me. Maybe it's lag, but more often than not it would be the only instance of lag throughout the fight.

Wasn't the last patch supposed to change it so that using a white soap stone to assist someone with a boss allows you to regain your humanity? I feel like this still isn't happening consistently.

lol, why are they nerfing so many regular enemies and bosses? prepare to casul?

pvp stuff i understand, we need better balance, but this....
They must be listening to people who have been struggling in certain areas (or they have data showing it). Either way, I hate to see FROM going down this road. I remember Dark Souls getting patched to be easier as well but I don't recall bosses being nerfed.

It seems to regain a little over time. Like maybe do a few and then you become human again. not from one coop boss win, iirc. Well, that's from my own experience.

it's ridiculous. people who struggle could always summon help before. you could already overcome any challenge by doing that. they should do their job and fix some of these hitboxes instead. that would be a good fix, as it would make the game more fair.

The Dark souls 1 got a patch that doubled all souls from enemies , making the whole game much easier assuming you used the souls to level or buy stuff.

I think easier bosses is bad as well, though.

Any Ultra Greatsword that has the same One hand Strong Attack as the Bastard Sword? I've been testing them and haven't found any. I love the Bastard Sword movesets but I want more dmg. Sigh

The Black Knight Halberd's move set is nowhere near as good as it was in DS1... :(
I miss some of the moves but the bread and butter R1 + R1 combo is still as useful as ever. I do really miss the sprinting two-handed attack, though. That was my favorite attack animation in the game.

Exactly! If you can't beat the bosses on that list with summons then honestly you just need to keep practicing. If it gets to a point where you can sloppily beat a boss it might as well not even be a Souls game anymore.

That's true! I forgot about that one. Even still, all that really does is reduce the amount of time it takes to acquire a certain number of souls since you can essentially grind as much as you want. I wasn't a fan of that change either though, to be honest. Didn't they also patch the Giant Blacksmith to sell Twinkling Titanite?

Glad to see some of these changes. I hope they somehow fix the PvP lag somehow. Hate being dtun locked half a room away.

And lol at pure magic builds not existing and not being good. I was for most part a pure magic build and do quite well with my spells.

I hope they nerf the twin blade weapons a little
