I miss some of the moves but the bread and butter R1 + R1 combo is still as useful as ever. I do really miss the sprinting two-handed attack, though.

Exactly! If you can't beat the bosses on that list with summons then honestly you just need to keep practicing. If it gets to a point where you can sloppily beat a boss it might as well not even be a Souls game anymore.

That's true! I forgot about that one. Even still, all that really does is reduce the amount of time it takes to acquire a certain number of souls since you can essentially grind as much as you want. I wasn't a fan of that change either though, to be honest. Didn't they also patch the Giant Blacksmith to sell Twinkling Titanite?
Yup, they did. It was much more difficult to acquire many sources of titanite pre patch. Doubling the number of souls you get definitely makes it easier even if you never go out of your way to grind. For someone who does grind it only reduces the time though, agreed.

Yes, Twinkling became purchaseable. They also added items to the Female Undead Merchant like the Purging Stones which made it easier to cure curse without running all the way to the Pardoner. I wouldn't say it made the game easier as it's just less busywork to get things done.

Does anyone know any details about item discovery in DS2?

I was wondering if any of the armour items that give increased item discovery are better than others? I wear the Travelling Merchants hat and Prisoner's Tatters for everything except boss battles (so I've upgraded them completely just for that little bit of extra defense), and the Gold Serpent ring of course. Wondered if other pieces of armour were better or worse or it didn't matter.

Also, unrelated question - Is there any reward or plot reason for killing
Navlaan
in ALL of his invasions? I've fulfilled his
assassination
questline completely, so I
pulled the lever
, and took him out in 3 of the 5 locations. Just wondered if there was any point to doing the others, any reward or anything?

There's no way to check your item discovery stat so everything is speculation, I've also read that item discovery items don't stack and from my experience this might be the case. :/

I'm wearing a Gold Serp+2 ring and things don't drop for me that much. I'll try other gear to see if it helps. But even with Rusted Coin, I don't see a big difference in drops. Seems like all item discovery items and gear are a waste of time.

He keeps coming back in the same area even if you've killed him once iirc, he will give awestones if you're with the company of champions.

You know what I love? The Heide chainmail armor. Looks so friggin' badass. Shame it's in NG+ only but man, I love the design.

Is it weird that I'm level 151 and just finished
Aldie's Keep
? I defeated the boss on my first try, so I'm guessing I'm a "tad" over leveled.

Yeah man, it is so nice looking. Is it a guaranteed drop from Heide knights in NG+? If you have it you should post a picture. ;)

Heard it was random what pieces they drop. I was lucky that it was from the second Heide Knight I killed. The first drop I got was the helm. Hoping I get the rest of the gear. Will take some pics of my build after work then. Never shared my lady here, heh

Sure, keep telling yourself that. Just because you haven't seen one, they don't exist am I right?
Homing soul mass to force a roll, crystal soul spear.

How do you plan to do anything to me when I have a 100% magic resist greatshield?

Actually, curious, how many people in PvP have you met have no idea how to deal with magic?

The MLGS nerf is lol. MLGS with CMW was one of the builds I had the most trouble with in PvP due to the crazy damage so that's cool :P

Are they planning to nerf the Avelyn at some point? I don't think a one-hand nerf is necessary, but it's OP when dual-wielding. I could see Hexes nerfed as well.

The boss nerfs aren't that necessary, but I see what they're going for. Last Giant can one or two-shot you on a first playthrough depending on your HP (avoiding him isn't too bad, but...). Royal Rat Authority is powerful too and is really annoying with the four toxic rats. Though I think the toxic rats are the biggest annoyance in this fight. Lost Sinner I fought before the Sentinels in Lost Bastille and she was pretty powerful, aggressive and had a lot of HP. I may have just fought her a bit early on though. And Freja's beam is powerful as well and gave me a little trouble when I fought her.

I'm surprised they aren't nerfing the Sentinels. Edit: Could possibly nerf Vendrick a bit too. Maybe Ancient Dragon's flame breath, though he's an easy boss if you know what to do. Which I don't think many people do lol :x

I think they're trying to leave much of the challenge on NG+. Oh well, I already beat all these bosses anyway.

I didn't think the Amana mages were that bad with range weapons, but I understand the nerf there too. Their range is crazy.

The increased defense for NPCs sound nice, though I already got the trophies.

As for this:

Fire Lizards in Forest of Fallen Giants will not spit fire in slower intervals.

Is that "now", not "not"? If so, that's a good change, because their spit is really powerful and fast. On NG+ it's devastating.

I'm winding down on DS2. I reached Shrine of Amana on NG+ , no real desire to finish the game again, although it is fun to just sit around and help people beat the final boss.
How do so many people still not know you can destroy the curse fountains that she spawns?
PvP is unfun due to that one-shot flash spell, and invasions are far too frequent to even try to play PvE online. 100 hours very well spent though. I had fun.

I really liked the Shrine of Amana nerf. Passing through there with a pure mage is really annoying, considering that the mages range is way bigger than yours, and you can only take 3 or 4 hits before dying. And I'm using the binoculars, but some spells don't reach the mages, while they keep casting those homing soul arrows non stop from the other side of the dungeon. And it gets really fun when 2 or 3 of those enemies hiding in the water decide that they want to kill you.

And to say that I'm not complaining just because of difficulty, I used a character with a bow too, and it was really easy, but incredibly boring because I had to stop everytime looking for those sorcerers to snipe them.

Interesting. I haven't looked into CoC yet, there's way more optional content in this game compared to the first two.

It doesn't have the same moveset as the regular Halberd? The moveset of that weapon is overpowered in DSII.

I don't know about that, not tried the pleb Halberd yet. What I do know is that it doesn't have the same move set as the BKH from DS1, which was visually incredible.

I miss some of the moves but the bread and butter R1 + R1 combo is still as useful as ever. I do really miss the sprinting two-handed attack, though. That was my favorite attack animation in the game.

Sure, but it doesn't have any of the flair that the DS1 BKH had: the overhead swings, the leaps and bounds, the raw weighty goodness. DS1 BKH had some of the best attack animations in any game, let alone a Souls game.

Y FRUM Y U DO DIS :(

Were there really people who have problems with this?

Yea, really? Those guys are pushovers even in NG+ and there's more of them.

I think it refers to the turtle knights, they are the ones who produce shock waves when hitting the floor. Personally, I don't have trouble with them though.
yea, they're still not bad in NG+. Easy to avoid except for that stupid hallway.

So yesterday I upped the difficulty level for the final boss to NG+++, man, does
she
not mess around. Had trouble defeating
her
a little bit this time. Funny to think back in NG when it was an easy boss.

Ended up getting 150k souls from items I sold to the guy in Harvest Valley (I haven't talked to him much in NG++ yet, so that is why he hasn't moved yet, till now). During that time, I got invaded twice. First time by a blue. He ended up waiting just inside that entrance before the 2nd bonfire area. The entrance to the valley to the left of the seller guy. He turned into a pot and waited on the 2nd ledge. So I just shot a Forbidden Sun at his direction and got him. He dropped down, and finished him off soon after without much difficulty. 2nd guy was a red. I waited just before the pool of poison. Killed him, but he came close to killing me.

Also....

I was watching my roommate play last night and watched him get destroyed by an invader. I'm pretty sure the guy was either cheating or just a glorified asshole. My friend is in NG No-Mans Wharf and prob has less than 45K souls, prob less than 35K souls. The invader not only had a Moon Butterfly armor set on, he was extremely over powered. My friend was able to backstab him and did no damage to him. So I am thinking he is a asshole who cheated to gank early players. Esp since you need at least 2 bonfire ascetics to get the Moon Butterfly chest piece....

It's a downgrade for sure but I can't say it bothered me too much. BKH was one of the first weapons I fell in love with in DkS and it served me just as well in II, I used it to take down quite a few of the bosses including
Nashandra
and
Darklurker
.

Hard not to miss this, though:

I can't count how many times i screamed like a little girl in NG+ when i encounter an enemy is in a new location. Loved that they did that.

Good luck. I had to get all 4 great souls in NG++ before it would open for me

I would just hate to go through the gutter and all

Majula is NG++ for me, how do I make him sell the set for the sake of posterity?

The Dark Spirits are mega trolls in NG+. You think no one's there and BOOM. Ambush to the face!

Well just like the first game, I got my Platinum before they patched it to make the game easier. Kind of crazy they're nerfing so many bosses (hopefully it's not a big difference), when the game was already much easier than DkS1.

Did you change up weapons? I tried Great Club and I'm not a fan of the move set. I think I died the most using it lol.

What exactly did they do to the mlgs? Is my build screwed now?

Weapon will swing slower, wont be able to buff it with crystal magic weapon. Should still be viable, but more 'matter of preference', not 'the best there is/dominate and at a severe disadvantage if you don't use it'.

I have a MLGS that I dont use because it feels dirty, and I see it too damn often.

So good....

Are the Black Knight weapons the best for those that have fire scaling already? Out of them what is everyone's favourite? I think the Halberd seems to be....

Going to try some fire weapons on my hex build vs my current dark weapons.

I'm sorta using the BK Greatsword and it's kinda slow. I should probably use the BK Halberd more. I used that in DkS1.

Some say it's easier, some say it's harder. I found it a bit easier, but these Souls games have similar mechanics so as a veteran, I knew what to expect. Veteran Souls players shouldn't have any issues.

No side effects. Don't die near the castle doors though.

Yeah - I just need the last two spells...does dying glitch the game? Also, there is zero chance my save file can be corrupted right?

So what are the chances this game comes to current gen consoles, Id definitely be willing to pump another 100 hours into this game all over again

Dying doesn't glitch it there, iirc. Just don't save/quit there or the enemies may not spawn for you to open the doors. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Worst one so far.

Two in the boiler room you have to shut off in Iron Keep. Scared the shit out of me

Haha, yea. They killed me there. Totally unprepared for it.

I am around level 50s and been farming for items and weapons for ages. If anyone wants some item or weapon, i might be able to assist you. Killed nearly all bosses and have nearly most boss weapons for NG. I am playing the PS3 version by the way. I am going to start fresh so i can share some of my items and weapons which i do not use. PM me, if you want.

Edit: And, i have tons of items.

I'd say 33.3333 repeating chance, for sure.

(Fo real tho, 0% chance until they announce or hint at anything whatsoever)
