So Dark Souls II [PC] is launching in less then a month and there's no footage of it.

No, is FROM to blame, not last gen.

It was not me who say "PC will be our lead platform" and then discover that is only some improvement

What else would have driven the decision?

Clearly they saw the console version as the safer and more popular bet. Its not like we know exactly whose decision it was to scrap they higher quality assets but you can bet that it was driven by a focus shift to the console Version

I'm with JaseC on this, I think it's extremely unlikely that they have the entire game sitting somewhere at significantly higher asset fidelity.

They made a vertical slice and when it came to making a whole game figured out they couldn't hit that level of quality throughout, with all systems integrated, on consoles. It happens.

I understand not matching the original gameplay demonstration. I don't understand butchering the whole new lighting system, even on the PC version.

US times always confuse me, so how long from now until that video/QL goes live?

And, yes, it does feel like things started with a PC focus but then the ship was quickly set back to console land.

I guess that, by now, it does indeed look like a console port instead of a native PC title. Which is still odd, after all, all games are coded on PC (I'm still looking at you, unreleased Bayonetta PC build...) so it's like doing double the effort to hinder a platform.

Not a fan of conspiracy theories but I didn't like at all how they kept the PC version under the radar/hidden for so long =/

You're right, next time when FROM will do some marketing, they need to shut up and dont give player and more preciseley PC player false hope about your game.

PC is the lead plattform and they are taking full advantage of that, not.
So sad.

Yeah clearly some big split decision making happened.

Maybe they realized that making Dark Souls 2 in that high level of Fidelity for the entire game (it is a huge game) would take much longer than the deadline would allow.

When did they announce the final release date?

Those GB impressions, pretty safe to say this is just the Xbox 360 version with standard engine enhancements, SSAO, AA, Textures.

At least it will be better than Dark Souls 1 PC port.

Its just a shame that no one will ever be able to play that first reveal, even if it was just that one section, I wish someone would just leak it.
Yep, just by Brad's impressions, this is a gigantic leap for one developer to make between two relatively similar games ported to PC. You have to remember that Dark Souls 1 is one of the worst PC ports of a big game of all time.

i'm EST and it says 12:00 for me as well. so it's not being adjusted for timezone
Where are you guys finding this information?

EDIT: I see it.

EDIT2: shows 12 PM for me too, but the whole site looks to be in Eastern time, so that would still be 9 AM Pacific.

It should be adjusted to your timezone, apparently it doesn't work for everyone. Always worked well for me.

Anyway, it's 54 minutes away and Giant Bomb does 4000 kbit/s 60 fps videos, so...that's good.

The internet needs to start using UTC/GMT for everything. Seriously.
You mean Swatch Internet Time.

So sad.

I still think it was the lead platform, they just gimped it for parity. I can't see them playing the PS3 version with 10 seconds loading screens and thinking it's ok to have to stand like a minute of loading just to level up (assuming you start by using a homeward bone).

Is GB the only outlet reporting in at 9 PST? I don't really think those guys are qualified to make a meaningful graphics comparison. I'll wait until DF gives their analysis.

If someone decides to create a new thread for the soon to be released Quick Look please share the link in here as well.

Well, they aren't. Judging by their response to the NeoGAF thread about the downgrade.

Knowing how little Brad cared about the issue in the past, I might expect them to completely forget about showing the PC options menu. That being said, the port for Dark Souls:PtD was such a controversy, they would do well to showcase things like graphics settings, resolution options, framerate options, input options, etc.... No doubt everyone that experienced the first game on PC is going to be extremely curious about that kind of thing.

When I said GMG isn't taking vouchers anymore, I meant the usual 20% off coupon they have. The email ones work fine, no clue if more are going out.

Still awaiting a Nuveem confirmation as well, since I don't know if DSII is region locked anywhere outside Japan yet. Never bought from Nuveem before, though they're legit.

Hold on to your butts, everyone.

Having played the PS3 version, I'm ready:

Still nothing up? Looks like I will witness the storm first hand.

What developers have gimped a PC version purposely for the sake of parity in the past?

I wouldn't necessarily say gimped but Tomb Raider definitive edition features could easily be put onto PC version via a patch I imagine?

apologies if posted, just saw this on /v/
No idea if the cutscenes are pre-rendered or in game tho. Maybe someone could compare it to how the console version looks at that scene?

Their player doesn't seem to work on mobile? Lame.

GAF will come to the rescue with gifs or something soon, I'm sure of it.
There are a few apps you can download that let you view the videos on the site.

I use the Giant Bomb Video Buddy. You can try that and just refresh it as soon as it goes live and it'll be there.

Console version looks like that, with much worse IQ obviously. Except for the short intro movie in the very beginning there are no pre-rendered cutscenes, but some feature improved lighting.
