Playing Strider makes me want a new Einhander

The corpses of great, barely used IPs litter the history of Square Enix. Threads of Fate, Einhander, Vagrant Story, Brave Fencer Musashi... if any of them ever got sequels they were horrible, quick, and forgotten.

I think I tapped into some part of my brain when I played Einhander all those years ago that no other game has been able to elicit.

I knew there would be no sequel the moment it was announced. Same with Ehrgeiz. Total departures in terms of genre.

Dope ass game nonetheless, albeit way too short and barely challenging.

In a hypothetical future where this would turn out to be good with no monkeypaw twists like its on mobile or lightning is starring in it or theyve farmed it out to spark unlimited or something

Yes, I would buy a new Einhander at a high price

Do you really want current SE to make the sequel?

yeah, all this hope, but we'd end up with some poop if it were actually made.

it would star a ship with Lightning decals all over it, in the shape of Lightning's sword, and there'd only one weapon-- a gun shaped like Lightning that shoots Lightning-shaped bullets at enemies...who are all Lightning.

either that or a mobile card game.

I will never believe that anyone finished Einhander without some save state feature. That game's difficulty level was ungodly and the continue system was unfair, but the game is excellent

I will always remember Square's second golden age on the PS1 when they took fun risks like these

They could call it... Zweihänder.

Fun fact, I never saw any footage of this game and wasn't even aware it's a shmup. From the title, I just thought it would be a fighting game or something. :lol

edit: oh shit, did I confuse this with Ehrgeiz?

edit²: I totally did, my bad. Man, these wacky Japanese and their randomly chosen German names.

Did they ever fix the AF issue on the PS4? I was holding off on getting it until they did, but I can't find anywhere if they ever did.

Such a great game. My roommate and I freshman year in college would play constantly trying to unlock everything
