Maybe they wanted to avoid the issue they had with Brawl where they were literally loading characters off the disc during the transformations but couldn't store them in the memory.
This is actually a good point. It may be that the 3DS is limited in that regard.
Real talk: For Glory mode is shit. FD isn't the only stage competitive players play on, stages with platforms are important for movement and positioning. I appreciate the thought but it doesn't even look like there are stocks for that mode -- it's a time match from the clips they were showing for that mode. They have to know competitive players play with stocks, right? =\
Ah well, I don't care I guess, I'll just play with people by adding them to my friend list or whatever.
Everything else about this direct did get me excited but the jury's still out on hitstun.
Custom move sets makes me really curious how far you can take it but I already know tournaments won't allow it lol.

Well it was already a problem in Brawl where the transformations were taking more time than in Melee. It was definitely for the best to get rid of them.

I was surprised by that actually. He really seemed in tune with what the fans want/expect, it's really...un-Nintendo of him.

I think we'll hear about Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, and Ness at E3. When they show off new F-zero, new Zelda, and Earthbound U.
Ridley's shadow appears in the Pyrosphere stage when talking about bosses. Of course, that's the ugly Other M clone Ridley, but I doubt we'll see both clone Ridley and another Ridley on the stage at the same time.
To be fair, he also trophy quiz trolled with Ridley; the King Ki-Hunter's reveal uses his music before the full trophy was revealed.

That was a fantastic Direct. Summer 2014 for the 3DS version is way sooner than I thought, and although I would have preferred the Wii U version first, I'll gladly take this. Greninja is a cool addition. I love the different Final Destinations too.
My only disappointments are Charizard being announced and Sheik and ZSS being separate. Charizard was the least fun of Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon to play for me, so I hope they change him up. As for Shiek and ZSS, I hope the fact that they take up two extra character slots won't lead to more cuts or fewer newcomers (it's probably an irrational fear). Otherwise, this is awesome. I can't wait for the games!

Hyped because I'm now pretty certain the rumor was true. Which means Shulk is in!
Transformations were probably taken out because most people just stuck to one character in a set anyways. I personally liked switching between the three Pokémon in Pokémon Trainer's trio, but I'm definitely cool with fleshing out Charizard (although I hope Squirtle and Ivysaur will be back, as well).

Don't know how you can interpret that when we've, probably, just witnessed two Pokémon characters lopped off minus Charizard.

the 3DS can load things faster than disc-based consoles.
if anything, the wii u's loading would cause problems first like how in Brawl transforming for Zelda sometimes took a bit longer than normal.
also, having the characters separate is better overall since they get moves for all their move slots.

Oh man that will be used so much. Wonder if they will allow you to use different megaman skins. That Battle Network Megaman will always be cherished. Capcom its time to sell him.

Wow. I really love the attention to detail they're putting into this game. You can really see how they're responding to feedback and polishing the game. It's already better than Brawl, but whether it ends up standing the test of time like Melee remains to be seen.
So far, the only thing I really don't like are the 3DS stages. Most of them are really bizarre and look dull in comparison to the Wii U stages. I'm also not relaly impressed with the new characters except for Roaslina. The dual control mechanic looks amazing so I'll probably grow to like her. Greninja was kinda out there, but we'll have to see how it turns out. Loving the rest of the game so far, and the Direct was really well done. Zero Suit Samus gag almost got me, but I'm glad they made her and Shiek their own characters. Male trainer is also a plus.

I don't know what this grayninja thing is, but it sounds a million times better than fucking CHARIZARD.

I wish they would stop putting in so many Pokemon and give other franchises like Metroid some attention. I know everyone has said it, but Ridley as a playable character would be unreal. Or Ganandorf's monster style form from which LoZ game that was.
Pokemon is way more popular than Metroid. Of course its gonna get more attention.
