Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Here's a weird idea. What if the Heart Container now worked as armor, extended life that needs to be chipped off first before your character actually takes damage. I mean, it's sort of what they do in the games as opposed to heal you, so if the fairy in a bottle exists, it'd kind of make sense...

200+ hours of Pokémon XY that never grew dull say, "Nah, just go for Pokémon."

Word to the wise about Greninja, though -- the one you want to raise competitively is the Protean variant, and you'll have to trade for it. Easy enough to obtain, though -- Poké-GAF breeds 'em by the bucketful.

Man, you're making this hard on me lol. Thanks for the info!

I'm so glad that at least the 3ds version is coming in summer. After seeing all these cool pics waiting for both versions till winter would have been torture.

Also Boomerang.

So I guess E3 is the last time we'll get a newcomer reveal, huh?

ATM we know of the 7 newcomers. E3 would for sure introduce 1-3 more. When the 3ds version hits we'll probably get another 1-3 newcomers that are hidden away until you unlock everyone we know to exist before the game would be released.

All together we could see 11-15 new characters. Roughly the same amount of newcomers seen in Brawl. If Sakurai does keep the player count around the same as Brawl, we will most likely see a lot of Brawl veterans cut.

Sorry of this was already remarked before.

Getting there...

While I think it's too early whether to say the Pokemon Trainer gimmick is gone from Smash 4, I think we can say goodbye to Squirtle and Ivysaur at this point =(

Sakurai explicitly stated there would be no transformation characters. The best chance Trainer has is if he fights on his own and summons Pokemon as his special moves.

So far we have 7 confirmed newcomers. E3 would for sure introduce 1-3 more. When the 3ds version hits we'll probably get another 1-3 newcomers that are hidden away until you unlock everyone we know to exist before the game would be released.

Sounds about right:

Villager
Mega Man
WFT
Little Mac
Pac Man
Mii
Rosalina
Greninja
Chorus Men
Shulk
Palutena
Chrom

Add in K.Rool/Ridley/Takamaru/whatever other character you think will be there and that's a solid list of newcomers.

I know this has probably been giffed a thousand times, but just for the hell of it:

What was up with Owarai Samurai in this direct.

Substitute. It's a move that allows a pokemon to hide behind a doll that takes attacks for it by sacrificing some HP. The doll stays in battle until the HP you gave it reaches 0. It's a clever move for Greninja since substituting oneself for a log is a common ninja trope.

Yup this is the whole thought process behind its inclusion.

Call me crazy, but I think everybody is coming back except for Squirtle, Ivysaur, PKMN Trainer, and Snake. 50/50 for Ike.

Now I'm having a 2$ worth of official Wii lan adapter(I bought it on 2$), I have no problem with WiiU Online Multiplayer!

All I need is.... Getting A WiiU!

ZSS was my secondary main in Brawl and I'm loving her newest design, probably my favourite suitless design for her ever. Still need to see Suited Samus's missiles better god damn, Brawl missiles were so worthless =/

Can't main Suited Samus anyways though since that's my brother's character. He's been Samus and I've been Link ever since N64 days.

Would have looked really good if they combined it with the harness from her younger days.

A more teched out Zero Suit just looks better than a plain one. It's too bad they stayed with the super form fitting style though as I prefer other M's. I just hope she gets an alt with her short hair.

Maxim Tomato heals 50%, Heart Container heals 100%, Fairy heals an unspecified amount (Probably 999%)

Maybe Fairy gives you a stock, like in Zelda where it brings you back from the dead. Or warps you back to the stage once if you fall off.

Captain Falcon, Ness, Meta Knight, and Wario I would say are definite.

I even would say Jigglypuff is a definite. I think being in Smash 64, or basically being in every Smash title since the original, guarantees your inclusion.

Ice Climbers, Game & Watch, and ROB have chances to return as Sakurai loves characters with unique movesets, and they cater to a different audience to most of the other characters.

Ike, Falco, Ganondorf, and Lucas dip a bit more into a "Let's see" territory, as they have potential replacements from their own series, but still very likely.

Wolf I find questionable.

I don't think Snake or Pokemon Trainer are returning.

:P

I was going for the fact that she does breathing to power up her moves, and uses the power of the sun, makes her Jojo.

Nope. Looks different from MoM
I know. But Zelda and Rosalina are obviously stand users, peach could arguably be one with toad, Sheik has the posing down, which only leaves ZSS

No no no, he fights on his own period. Rocks from the Safari Zone as projectiles, bicycle as forward B, Escape rope as recovery, & fishing rod used like hookshot.

Well considering what we've seen in the direct, I'm going to assume that we get 49 character slots + Random, for a nice and even 50 unique characters slots across both systems.

We have 29 characters revealed so far, 6 of which have been newcomers. There are 14 characters left to add from Brawl assuming that Squirtle and Ivysaur are cut. Assuming there are no more cuts, that brings the final roster to 43 characters with a maximum of 6 more newcomers to reveal.

However, cuts are imminent and will happen as much as I'd like all the characters to stay. If we take that into account, we can further cut down the list by morphing Ness and Lucas into a single character with a combined moveset. We can do the same with both remaining Star Fox Characters.

That brings the number of returning characters to 12. However we can further cut down this list assuming that Ike and Snake get cut, which I really hope doesn't happen. This cuts the list to 10 veterans, 6 cuts. The final stretch, improbable as it may be, is an Ice Climbers cut. People brought this up because of possible limitations from the 3DS version.

From that we can assume at WORST we get 9 veterans left and 7 cuts.

Now going off of the Gematsu leak, the remaining characters that they've listed out are Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, Rhythm Fever, and Pac-Man and Mii (I don't want Pac-Man in the game, I don't care about the Mii).

Assuming that this list is REAL, we would have AT BEST no cuts except Squirtle/Ivysaur and these remaining 6 characters. That would mean we only get 12 total newcomers.

If there are Mother and Star Fox cuts, we'd get 2 more newcomers, bringing the total to 14.

At worst, we would see 6-7 cuts and get 4-5 newcomers in return to bring it to a grand total of 16-17 newcomers.

This is all speculative and solely based on if we get that many character slots at all. I'm pretty confident that we will get at most 49 total characters + random considering the limitations of the hardware and the need to keep a nice and clean HUD. We would also have to assume that there is a 5 character maximum for each franchise, as we see with Mario/Zelda/Pokemon. This would mean that the final Pokemon reveal would be Jigglypuff.

Assuming that Gematsu's reveal was correct, we can only have 4-5 newcomers at most as character slots, considering that we will not have any transforming characters in the game.

With all this in mind, how will your rosters turn out? What other characters can we see left that are probable? Ridley's most likely been debunked and I don't see King K. Rool being in the game either.

I'd like your thoughts and I'm actually being serious for once, what are the most probable additions that are left to be added in the game considering probably cuts?

Assuming only 2 characters get cut, I'd like to see an Advance Wars rep and Captain Rainbow/Wonderful 101 rep.

Assuming that Ike and Snake are cut, I'd like to see the above plus an extra Fire Emblem Rep.

Assuming that we get a total of 5 cuts, I would like to see a new Fire Emblem rep, Advance Wars rep, Golden Sun rep, Captain Rainbow Rep, and a Wonderful 101 rep.

I really don't think Snake, Ike, or the Ice Climbers are going anywhere and assuming that Gematsu is accurate, we'd only see 2 more possible character reveals.

I'm still skeptical about the Gematsu leak and although I'd like to have them happen, it's still not enough for me to believe it.
