Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

I'm angry cuz Greninja is a stupid Pokemon, Charizard sucks and no Jigglypuff,

If Jigglypuff ain't in I'm not buying the game.

Anyone starting to feel like the newcomer trailers are cleverly done in a way that subtly introduces some idea about the game content? I feel the handling of Greninja was WAY too close to Mewtwo to just play it off as Sakurai just trolling.

its still in my head... they created a flat battlefield for the "fair mode"... and they killed the platforms of all stages...!?? sakurai!?

Yea that was most definitely an intentional bait and switch.

In retrospect, Greninja was never presented anything like Mewtwo. The only reason people (including me) thought it was Mewtwo at first was because of certain... expectations.

I'm still hoping that Doc Louis counting Mac's pullups to 101 was a nod to Wonder Red being in...

I'm not liking the look of Palutena's Temple's layout at all. It's not as awful as New Pork City but it looks like a complete pain to actually get around, bad enough that you apparently need springs in one part. I think that's what they've missed since Melee's Temple--its relative ease of movement.

It looks like five stages hastily cobbled together.

3DS this SUMMERRRRRR!!

Hype has returned. Imma play Mario Golf and Kirby straight into Smash.

No mario kart 8? (╯°□°)╯

Cannot wait to play 3DS Smash bros. Will definitely be a nice little warm up for the true frenzy x.x

The real question is... What will Friday's pic be? O:

It definitely did look a bit like Mewtwo before its revealed to be Greninja. The three fingers, the ball charging attack, the tongue that you could mistake for Mewtwo's tail.

Smash 4 is pretty much guaranteed to have an option for private online matches, right?

Is there still a bi-monthly direct this month? Is it likely that we could get another newcomer? I'm really digging greninja, so no complaints from me either way

I know I'm in the minority, but with Mario Golf, Smash and Kirby (and other stuff like Gunvolt and Shovel Knight) I'm actually quite hyped with 3DS' lineup this year. Plus let's see what happens at E3 :D

How have people convinced themselves that For Fun and For Glory will have 0 customization options? It even says in the infopic that 1v1 battles are 'possible' in For Glory. That implies that there are other possibilities, which implies other options. I'm pretty sure there will be 2v2, time and stock options. Most of the videos show time rather than stock, even though we know stock is an option in local matches.

While characters are still interesting, put me in the camp that's now far more interested in stages. Brawl had 40-something, so there's still a lot more for them to reveal. We have more characters and items definitely this time around, but stages we've seen very sparse of actually so far.

Yeah, those screens with the rules weren't actual screenshots of the menu.

well....I'm sorry about your expectations

The Water Shuriken was blatantly made of water and blatantly shuriken-shaped from the first view of it.

Nah, on the first view it only appeared to be a blue particle energy type thing that he was charging. It could've been mistaken for an aura sphere easily, for instance. And you couldn't see the shuriken part yet.

On the second view though, the shuriken form became more obvious.

Seriously I am convinced Sakurai is reading message boards every day. He knows everything. Our expectations, our dreams. He knows how obvious Palutena is. He knows some of us want Ridley. He knows the competitive players dislike transformations.

He is literally doing everything the way I wanted him to. This very rarely happens in gaming. I'm still floored about this whole thing.

Are you Sakurai?

When I saw it was star shaped I thought they had replaced Shadow Ball with Swift like Mewtwo used in Pokemon Origins.

This is why I think Wonder Red will be in the game...

...as an AT.

He's aware of what people are saying and what comes up often.

Somehow this day has been ruined for me. R.I.P Ultimate Warrior :(

Does anyone have a write up/point form of what was announced today during the Direct?

I pretty much still believe in Takamaru and Palutena is equal parts trolling me and damn near confirmed at this point. I dunno who to cast my ballots in with regarding Fire Emblem
can I just be honest and say I really don't want Chrom? No offense to supporters though
, Ridley's the hot button topic that cannot die, and everything else is wild card as fuck, especially if the Gematsu leaker proves correct with the Chorus Men thing. (Seriously, whaaaaat?)

Some exciting times are upon us it seems.

Posted this on Smashboards, but just in case anyone is interested in Pit;

Upperdash Arm I much prefer over Angel Ring. The super-armour alone makes it great. It could be amazing for a tech-chase too, as it'll soak a get-up attack. I'm happy with new-Pit so far.

I'm not entirely sure what this aerial is replacing. It can either be a new forward air or neutral air.

This is what appears to be his new up-tilt? It's a 2 part attack that behaves similarly. Right after in the Direct he also hits with forward smash, which looks slightly different but behaves the same.

Jab and forward smash was shown in the Direct, so I confidently assume that this is his new forward tilt. It appears much faster and the range is great.

And... I much prefer his new, speedy recovery, even though the loss of glide (and thus glide attack) are a bit upsetting.

Seriously loving the changes to Pit so far. One thing I'm worried about though, in the segment dedicated to him, there was a scene of his arrow fading away after a set distance. I'm left wonderinf if it was a KI:U style charge shot specific thing (the arrow itself looked much bigger and vibrant than the Brawl arrows) or if he's gotten a universal nerf on the distance arrows travel and the looks are just a cosmetic thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an alternate version of his arrow. Default is normal long range and options include the spinny one for traps and that slow/short one for more damage.

I was just going to get to that.

So far we've had 13 Stage Reveals for the Wii U and if we compare it to the number of stages in Brawl, we'd have 28 more stages to reveal.

That said, there are 31 original stages and 10 retro stages in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

For the Wii U at least, we have 14 original stages confirmed and 1 retro stage.

For the Wii U, I'm predicting around 50 total stages with 35 original stages and possibly 15 retro stages to reflect the number of newcomers to the game.

We have yet to see an original Kirby, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Fire Emblem, or upcoming Newcomer Stages.

If we take at least one of each, that would give us 16 original stages, with 19 leftover for possible newcomers, original stages, or franchises getting double representation.

The 3DS has the same amount of stages revealed thus far and I believe that the 3DS will get a total of about 35 stages with 28 of them being original and 7 of them being retro.

The 3DS has yet to show a Mega Man, Wii Fit, Kirby, Metroid stage, etc.

With this in mind, what stages do you guys have in store for the game assuming that we get 35 and 50 stages for the 3DS and Wii U respectively?

I'd love to see more Pokemon Stages like Poke Floats 2, Patchland from Kirby, etc.

We already have an Elite 4 Stage which may cover the Spear Pillar portion. There are a lot of franchises to pick and choose stages from and I'd like some discussion as to what probably stages would make the cut for SSB4.
