Hopefully we know them all before the 3DS version is out.The greatest and worst thing about this is that as soon as the 3DS version gets out, we'll know who all the playable character are.
So are the Mega Evolutions for Lucario and Charizard their Final Smashes? The way they rolled out Mega Lucario seems more like an Aura tie-in. And Mega Charizard X doesn't appear to glow like a Final Smash. Are they possibly transformations triggered under other conditions, I.E. sustaining a certain amount of damage?
I really hope Captain Falcon returns. I love to use his falcon punch move with Kirby. Pretty adorable when Kirby said "Falcon Punch!"
If it required that then Lucario's aura mechanic is even more pointless than ever before.
I don't get it. If Ridley is too big then there are other options.
How about just fucking split Zero Suit Samus off of regular instead of making the awful final smash transformation. It fucks the character. I literally have to get the smash ball when it comes up or I am at an extreme disadvantage. Then I'm stuck playing with her even if I die until I can get it again to swap back.
Fuckin pisses me off to no end.
How about dark Samus? How about a space pirate?
I would be okay if she transformed, hell even off the final smash if when I died I reset into the suit.
Sure.. but the point is that I can't play as regular samus. Not ZSS.
Also I have no choice but to switch who I'm playing as or let my opponent use a smash attack.
There is no other character who has this disadvantage. It also makes no sense that it doesn't reset upon death. Samus was fucked by final smashes.
Please stop keeping the Issac hype alive =( and we have golden sun coming to Wii U VC soon....>.>
Well considering what we've seen in the direct, I'm going to assume that we get 49 character slots + Random, for a nice and even 50 unique characters slots across both systems.
We have 29 characters revealed so far, 6 of which have been newcomers. There are 14 characters left to add from Brawl assuming that Squirtle and Ivysaur are cut. Assuming there are no more cuts, that brings the final roster to 43 characters with a maximum of 6 more newcomers to reveal.
However, cuts are imminent and will happen as much as I'd like all the characters to stay. If we take that into account, we can further cut down the list by morphing Ness and Lucas into a single character with a combined moveset. We can do the same with both remaining Star Fox Characters.
That brings the number of returning characters to 12. However we can further cut down this list assuming that Ike and Snake get cut, which I really hope doesn't happen. This cuts the list to 10 veterans, 6 cuts. The final stretch, improbable as it may be, is an Ice Climbers cut. People brought this up because of possible limitations from the 3DS version.
From that we can assume at WORST we get 9 veterans left and 7 cuts.
Now going off of the Gematsu leak, the remaining characters that they've listed out are Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, Rhythm Fever, and Pac-Man and Mii (I don't want Pac-Man in the game, I don't care about the Mii).
what? The Jigglypuff cut though. That hurt.

Very aptly put. Which means the WiiU has the odd distinction of being the "massive upgrade" and "definitive edition" while also missing out the magic and mystery that comes with discovering the main attraction -- the characters -- for the first time. The greatest and worst thing about this is that as soon as the 3DS version gets out, we'll know who all the playable character are.
Ah, good point. I guess they're probably Final Smashes then. Shame, since I always turn off Smash Balls but I really want to play Mega Charizard X, lol.Giga Bowser and Wario Man (from Brawl) don't have that Final Smash glow either.
A lot of Smash Bros. characters have mostly invented move sets. For instance, Pit splitting his bow into two blades was created for Brawl (though Sakurai reused the concept in Uprising, so now it makes canonical sense). The Ice Climbers have one attack in their source game, but Sakurai managed to create an entire move set for them. R.O.B.'s attacks are all original. And of course, there's also Captain Falcon and the Star Fox characters.Isn't the whip a major invention? Most of her attacks use it and it's completely out of thin air.
I really hope Captain Falcon returns. I love to use his falcon punch move with Kirby. Pretty adorable when Kirby said "Falcon Punch!"
Since Charizard is apparently standalone now I think Ridley is even more likely to make the cut.
Did you not watch the direct? He's a boss character like the yellow devil.Since Charizard is apparently standalone now I think Ridley is even more likely to make the cut.
The game looks gorgeous in the native 1080 screenshots.
I assume you guys don't need me to upload these (there are like 300)?
of course he will return
definitely not, given that Mega Lucario always has max aura
I already did in ZIP format.
If by "the earliest opportunity" you mean if by chance you get the smash ball. And it only lasts for however long.If it requires super high damage to become Mega Lucario then its just as bad as the old aura mechanic, and if it doesnt then the aura mechanics is waste since youll just power up at the earliest opportunity and get max anyways.
Ah coolWould have done it earlier, but was too busy prepping bits for my site. Nice job

Have we seen 3DS Final Destination?

Not yet as far as I know
Wii U VC Golden Sun is exactly why you keep the Isaac hype alive!
That is believable enough I guess.
I don't think it's possible that one of Wolf or Falco will get cut (likely Wolf if I go along with this scenario.) We had Star Fox 3DS. As for a Lucas cut, it sounds believable on the surface but I really don't think this is likely, even without Earthbound on the VC.
Ike and Snake are gone. Ice Climbers not likely. Where's this 3DS speculation--are people saying the 3DS couldn't handle them or something? I thought the 3DS was at least as powerful, if not more so, than the Gamecube. I don't think ROB is coming back, much as he totally captures the Nintendo banner. Was cut from Mario Kart after DS, for whatever reason. I think Game and Watch is returning. Everyone else is back.
Man, fuck the gematsu leak. Pac-Man fucking sucks. eShop Pac Man compilation got axed too, and the Ghostly Adventures seems to have failed to gain traction. I can't help but be skeptical of these leaks, besides wanting Isaac. What happened to the leak that claimed Layton when like Smash 4 wasn't even revealed?
We need Klonoa. The People demand Klonoa. It is the only way.
Plus, ware my waifu Isaac/Robin
Anyway, Palutena is definite, Chrom is likely (or at least, a 2nd Fire Emblem character,) Shulk I'm honestly not too sure about, couldn't comment on Rhythm Fever, Mii is depressingly understandable.

Just wanted to comment on Marth's new Neutral B. It lunges forward depending on the charge. noooooooooo
ThanksYeah I had it up a while ago on DropBox but the link gave out due to traffic.
Cool.
I saw screenshots of like 20 items and AT's on the 3DS, anyone got a link to the post-Direct media?
Where did you see that?
I've got them all. There's 72 different items confirmed as of right now. From Blue Shell to Bullet Bill to Franklin's Badge to a weird flag to a beehive to the Superscope

The weird flag is a Namco arcade thingI've got them all. There's 72 different items confirmed as of right now. From Blue Shell to Bullet Bill to Franklin's Badge to a weird flag to a beehive to the Superscope
No, they teased that he might be, but the fact that they didn't show him makes it seem a bit fishy.Wasn't Ridley essentially confirmed as a stage hazard in this?
We are talking about if Mega Lucario is triggered by high damage aka if its not a final smash.
I gotta say though, the only bad thing I took away from this Direct is that Squirtle and Ivysaur are probably gone. A shame, but you can't have it all.
