Ice Climbers are definitely in. They just showed the polar bear in the Smash Run mode.

Why would they cut Ice Climbers? And no way they cut fan favorite Lucas.

Surely Wolf would make more sense to cut than Ice Climbers? They're the only representative, and unless they've changed up Wolf he is far too similar to Fox and Falco.

I remember Sakurai saying something about having trouble putting the Ice Climbers in the 3DS version. That's all I'm going off.

Maybe they were were referring to the transforming characters, since we know they've been taken out/separated into different characters?

I just watched some gameplay and you're right, I guess that's worth keeping a slot then.
I'm hoping they ditch Snake, he has no real place in the game to be honest, I'd rather a "proper" Nintendo character get the slot.

They didn't need to be heels to do that. In fact, purely from a propulsive point of view, heels are the worst design because they'd just tip her forward compared to a jet from the whole sole.

Lucas, Jigglypuff, Wolf, Ice Climbers, Mr Game & Watch and ROB I would also be shocked to see gone, but to a lesser degree.

Ike and Snake are the only ones I could see potentially being cut, and even then I don't expect it at all.

Ivysaur and Squirtle are joining Pichu, Young Link, Roy and Dr Mario in the Smash Graveyard, and Mewtwo is being resurrected.

His entire A-moveset has 0 shared moves with Fox. Only 2 of their moves are having some very broad similarities (Up Smash is them kicking upward - though very differently, and Back Air is them kicking backward, although very differently).
His specials are significantly different from Fox'. I can tell you 5 differences of Fox's laser to Wolf's plasma gun from the top of my head.

Dr. Mario has a chance to return as an alternate costume for Mario. He was planned for Brawl along with Roy, assuming that wasn't just leftover data from Melee. Let's hope they return with Mewtwo and everybody's favorite Pichu!

The affiliation thing for me seems weak to me at this point. He's already been in one Smash game so that alone in my book should give him the pass. Aside from that he has a great moveset and I know for me and many others he works great as the "outsider" character. It was because of Snake that I even got a Wii and actually finally got into smash. So aside from what games he's been in on what platform that fact alone means a lot to me.

Also just to randomly add something, that Debug WiiU Menu from ages ago listed Metal Gear and just about everything on that list has happened aside from that. So my last hope now is some sort of MGS game for WiiU at E3, which would be a perfect time to reveal that snake is back.

But at this point i'm kind of accepting he's not coming back and just sitting here wondering what character to pick up now.

It's possible, but the lack of mentioning the Pokemon's name, just that it'd be from XY, makes it less likely than the original one, even if the site claims that both are from the same source.

Okay, I'm probably late on this, but if we've got not only a Namco item but Namco assist trophy as well, I'm kind of convinced we're getting a Namco representative at this point.

Fox's laser traverses the entire map, Wolf's projectile has limited range.
Fox's laser deals no knockback (doesn't even flinch), Wolf's has knockback.
Fox's laser travels ridiculously fast, Wolf's is fairly slow.
Fox can fire 3 lasers in just a short hop (if you're skilled enough), Wolf only one.
Wolf's projectile deals more damage than Fox's laser.
And the most important difference is that Wolf's gun also deals damage in melee range (that knife isn't only for show).

How many of you guys will only play it with real life friends? I only ever played Smash with other people in real life, I can't see myself playing it online. It's one of a very few subset of games that seem incredibly saddening to play alone to me, like Mario Party or Halo multiplayer.

It's definitely more fun with people you know.

Worst comes to worst, the Ice Climbers will be separate characters that you can interchange i.e. Wii Fit Trainer. Takes away from their unique appeal,but way better than cutting them entirely.
