Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

I don't think he is either - it's a little late down to the line to reveal him as a third-party character. Plus: with Ground Zeroes making a splash on all platforms sans Wii U, it'd potentially brew up some bad blood from the fan base and maybe developers.

Well on the other end of that MGS4 wasn't coming to Wii and yet he still made it in brawl. Guess it comes down to how much Kojima and Sakurai are still friends or not.

Is 'Super Smash Bros. for Wii U' a placeholder or the actual name? As opposed to Brawl, Melee etc.

Finalized titles.

What is Pit's neutral air? lol

Neutral Air were shown in first trailer where he spin the bow.

With Pit getting the Three Sacred Treasures as his final smash, I'm more convinced that Palutena will appear someway or another. It's just a matter of whether she's a stage hazard, AT, or playable

Yep, her chance became more likely.

Pit's new final smash doesn't really have anything to do with Palutena unlike his old final smash.

I'm not saying I think she won't be in the game, just saying that correlation isn't there.
In Uprising, isn't she the one that gives the armor to Pit?

Because Charizard is basically replacing Pokemon Trainer.

All veteran reveals during the Direct - Yoshi aside - were based on the idea of removing the transformation concept from the game. It's a pretty big leap to say that Charizard being by himself means that Squirtle and Ivysaur are not present in the game, as a perfectly valid alternate theory is that Squirtle and Ivysaur are simply going to be playable as separate characters themselves.

Anyway, one of the most exciting things for me is that with custom movesets, Mario's classic Down B might still be a thing. :D

Silly Samus.

Stage hazard, I'm sure of it.

My Palutena not being playable bet is re-opened if there are any takers.

Also I think Lucas and Wolf are getting cut.
But the new leak says she's playable!

And the old leak!

And the change to Pits FS!

And the fact that she has her own stage!

And the tease in the direct!

And... I think that's it.

Like they have final destination-mode for a lot of stages, there needs to be 'battlefield' mode for every stage. Literally the same thing, but with 3 platforms. They could even be in slightly different positions in each stage (staircase, inverted, etc). Then add both final destination mode and battlefield mode stages to forGlory and we're good. It honestly can't be THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT much work, outside of regression testing and UI implementation. There is still time.

Also, what's a fair stock number/time limit for for glory. I assume currently, time is 2 minutes, like in brawl. What's something reasonable? 2 stock, 4 minutes? 3 stock 5 minutes? Traditionally, evo is 4stock/9minutes, right? Online might need to be a bit faster.

Traditionally in Melee it's 4 stocks and 8 minutes. In Brawl it's 3 stocks and 8 minutes. I would be happy with 2 stocks or 3 stocks and like 5 minutes but it really depends on how long matches generally take.

I would really, really like Battlefield versions of most stages, too but I don't know if we can communicate that to Sakurai in time. ;~;

If nothing changes I won't be too mad I guess.

I'm so happy Greninja made it in. My favorite Kalos starter Pokemon!

Best Kalos Pokemon overall by a pretty significant margin, I think. It's a good choice.

4 stock, 8 minutes. Ideally, time limit shouldn't have to play into most matches at all. I'd say 3 stock 5 minutes. Depends on how aggressive the game is though. If it's defense oriented like Brawl, those would often go to timer.

Battlefield versions would be way better than FD mode. I wish every stage had a 'glory' mode though, with all having unqiue platform layouts without dumb hazards/scrolling.

Just saw that there are assist trophies from Galaga and Rally-X. I think a Namco rep is definitely likely now. (PAC-Man!!!)

I just noticed something. With Jungle Japes from Melee back, it means the past stages aren't going to be only from Brawl. This opens the possibility of Hyrule Castle, Termina Bay, and others being added as well! :O

I'm just hoping for a stock mode in general.

It's still in development, Wii U version is at least 6 months away, if not 8. It can also always be patched in. My goal is to get him to pay attention that this is something fans want BEFORE the game is out, they look at statistics, and see that all the best ranking players (highest win/loss ratio) are playing fox or little mac, and do nothing but 1 KO and then run away. Fast characters who excel at land combat will dominate, almost exclusively. Turtling strategies and 'running away' strategies will dominate as well. Makes it no fun for people who actually want to play bowser or donkey kong, or something, and they can't outrun fox.

I just want them to at least KNOW this is something fans want, so it can potentially be added sooner rather than later or not at all (once the smash team has disbanded entirely and patches are out of the question).

Still no sign of Smash 64 stages though. Which had some of the best stages in the series (such as Dreamland 64). I don't expect them because of the outdated assets... but it would be nice if they brought them back, if not updated their looks completely if that's the reason they refuse to bring them back.

I'm pretty surprised they didn't go with Protoman.

They still could. I was surprised they didn't pick Bass/Proto/Zero. But unlike Brawl, I don't think there will be a limit to only one third party AT. At least I hope not, I want to see Eggman as one also.

Seeing the Namco items makes me think Sonic and Megaman have a chance for items too. A bubble shield from Sonic would be nice (inside a TV you have to break) and Megaman could have any assortment of items.

If there are any more megaman assist trophies, they will be ones he doesn't have the power for, I assume. In order to have their power, he has to have defeated them, therefore they can't be assist trophies. He has no elec-man power, so elecman is good.

So did anyone actually predict Greninja as a character? I didn't even know it was a Pokemon since neither me nor my rival got the water starter
My friend and I had been discussing it for quite some time. We thought that if they were going for a Pokémon newcomer from Gen 6, then Greninja would be the perfect choice. We weren't convinced they were going to do it though since it's a starter, so we thought they might want to treat it equally with the other two... That didn't seem to be the case.

Eagle-eyed Twitter user @kitroplious has spotted an interesting tidbit about Nintendo's Wii Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro. The following message was discovered on Club Nintendo while the user attempted to order a Wii game using his reward credit:

Seems early, given that it's compatible with the U.

It's alright though; the pro controller is much, much better. Or better yet finding a GCN->CC converter (I think they're out there).

Ridley still has a chance.

What if Other M Ridley is the stage boss, but classic or Meta Ridley is playable?

Sorry man, now you are just grasping at straws here. It's pretty much known where he stands now.

I mean, I already KNEW this was going to happen due to those hints from Sakurai about "seeing an enemy from Samus's past" up in the Pyrosphere, but... y'know, you have to see stuff to believe it I guess.

Well technically Other M Ridley isn't actually Ridley in the purest sense. But Sakurai seems to want to imply that Ridley is a stage hazard or special boss character.

I would be more convinced if he was actually shown instead of a shady shadow.

Best to assume he is a stage hazard and not be betrayed by lofty hopes easily shattered.

I just realized my team in pokemon X is Charizard, Greninja, Lucario, Pikachu. I need to catch jigglypuff now, and my smash team is complete. Guess i'll need mewtwo for my 6th. Team smash!

...Unless the sixth Pokemon rep (I don't think there will be less than Brawl), is a Grass type. That being said Mewtwo would fit well. Mega Charizard X vs Mega Mewtwo Y anyone?

SSB64-5 stocks, Melee-4 stocks, Brawl-3 stocks, SSB4-2 stocks

:P

Unless a new Mario or Zelda rep is showing up anytime soon, we're maxing out at 5, which will be more than Brawl (which, if you count Trainer & Zelda/Sheik as 1 character, was 4 for Mario, Zelda & Pokemon).

Good point. Mega Y is dumb looking, imo, BUUUUUUUUUUT, fits better for mewtwo playable, to make him different and unique and not just 'fighting'. So far we have no type-crossovers for any pokemon. Water/Dark, Fire/Flying, Fighting/Steel, Lightning, and presumably Normal/Fairy (for jiggly). Making it mega X would be at conflict with lucario's fighting type.
