Rewatching the Smash Direct, I think the fact that the Ridley shadow stays in place for a short time and then moves is hinting at him being playable - I haven't seen any Assist Trophy/stage hazard that would move as jerkily (not the right term but I can't think of a better way to describe the motion of a character moving from a still position timed with moving the control stick) as the shadow did in the Direct.

Pixelart requires the same knowledge of art, anatomy, lighting & other regular drawing skills. You just use different techniques to apply em.

I think you're desperate if you think Ridley is in the game after the Direct. The things people have been using as evidence look like people scrapping whatever they can together to prove their conspiracy theories.

However, even if he is in, I think you're just plain crazy if you think the Ridley shown in the Direct is the playable version, though. I know the whole "He's too big" thing is a running joke, but really that shadow was gigantic.

My reasons for doubting Shulk is that he doesn't seem to be the main playable character in X. I don't think one game is enough for him to be "worthy" of Smash Bros., especially not a recent one unless it sold like crazy. (I'm sure someone is going to post a picture to prove me wrong.) Then again, we know nothing about X, so it could be possible that he plays a big role in that game too.

Which is why Isaac is more deserving of a playable character.

Just imagine the boost in virtual console sales if they announce him.

After the ROB bullshit Sakurai pulled with Brawl I think it's fair to say there's plenty of reasons to believe a character could still be playable after being deconfirmed in all ways but outright deconfirmation. (like Waluigi)


I don't hold high hopes for playable Ridley, but Sakurai only showing his shadow felt like outright trolling to some degree.

I won't say I like Shulk's design that much - it's too visually busy, look at all those damn round things and lines everywhere - but to look at that picture of Luso and go 'That's a great design!' is madness. I mean, if Shulk is visually busy, Luso is fuckin' exhausted.

It definitely needs to be a handheld game. To trade on nostalgia, it should probably be a remake of an older Metroid title, maybe Metroid 1? But they should give it a subtitle to not confuse people. Maybe something like Zero Mission?

Well, look at it this way. Assume that each move has three possible forms.

3 versions of four moves is. 3x3x3x3 = 81 total combinations for each character.

Now multiply this by an estimate of, let's say, 40 characters.

40 x 81 = 3240 combinations total.

That's a metric crapton of characters.

If customization is Wii U only that could also explain the delay in part. Making a total of 480 different abilities and balancing them could take quite a while.
