Nintendo Direct : Tomodachi Collection confirmed for Europe/na

All directs should be in tomadchi form from now on.
Is it possible to script things like they have in the direct or do you just have to wait for things to happen?
 
IGN interviewed Bill Trinen about the game and the localization:

“I look at names as kind of a peculiar thing,” Trinen said. “Looking back, there was a time when Pokemon was not going to be a great name for that franchise, or people thought Wii was not going to be a great name for that system. And so, from that perspective, when we’re looking at naming something, we’re often looking at trying to find something that has a unique sound or a unique feel to it. And, certainly, taking a word like ‘Tomodachi’ and combining it with life has a little bit of that intrigue.”

“What the localization team has done is probably very similar to the process that went into the localization of the original Animal Crossing,” Trinen said. “We looked at that and said, ‘OK, We’re not changing the core gameplay or the structure of the game as it currently exists.’ What we wanted to do is try to find those moments where the localization team can find a way to make [it all] a little bit more relevant for people here in the US.”

Also, this caught my eye:
Trinen told us that Tomodachi Life already supports Nintendo’s Image Share tool, but the developers have gone a step further. They’ve included a link that will automatically launch the service into the game itself. So players will be able to quickly share screenshots using this tool.

So it appears that sharing images to Twitter will be even simpler than in Animal Crossing?

There was a game on the DS that went on to sell ~3.5 millions in Japan. It was never released in the west because of some issues with the way the game was coded that made it impossible to localize or something.

The way written Japanese works made the text-to-speech doable there but not here. I guess they were able to surmount those issues with the 3DS game.
 
I don't know what I am watching... but I kind of like it.

Is this a full price release? I'm interested but not quite $40 interested.

edit: NEVERMIND JUST GOT TO REGGIE IN A SPEEDO FULL PRICE DAY ZERO LOL LOL LOL
 
Wow. I went from an opinion of total "meh" when clicking this thread to really wanting it thanks to that video lol. Well done Nintendo.
 
Anyone know if this will be a budget release or the full 40 bucks? I know when Animal Crossing New Leaf launched, it was $35.

That Direct was hilarious, but I'm still not sold on the game. The gameplay looks to be really hands-off where most of the fun comes from watching your Miis do silly stuff. That's fine, but it's not something I'd pay full price for. If they make it cheaper than most 3DS games then it would be an easier purchase but since they want this to be the next Animal Crossing they're probably gonna price it at $35.

The text-to-speech sounds really bad compared to Siri and Google Now's clear voices, but I guess this is the best they could do while allowing you to customize your voice.
 
I guess it's time to start slowly crafting an army of celebrities and famous personalities, considering I have like 5 Miis on record :/

I think I'll make Teal'c from Stargate first ....

This is correct. Sakamoto said to us tuesday that that was the main reason why they couldn't bring it over back then. DS hardware couldn't do it, 3DS can now :)
 
i hope this game, once it comes over here, is sold like crazy because of how goddang quirky it is.

And then it becomes the new Animal Crossing, selling millions and millions of copies

I read you can change the lyrics. You can also type what they'd say in certain situations in advance. It asks "What would I say if I was embarassed?" or something like that.
