8:00 minute time limit
No items
FD, Battlefield, and Smashville legal only (tentative)
Other standard tournament rules, such as counterpicking (winner bans stage, loser picks counterpick, winner chooses character before loser) and Dave's Stupid Rule (can't counterpick to same stage you won on in a previous round)

I think that should be satisfactory to everyone, although with such a small stage list the last point may be unnecessary.

Oh yea, regarding Link's new animation for the Up Air. I feel like it gives it a stronger look. Using two hands to "thrust" (which actually looks like Link is just holding it up high rather than thrusting it) vs using one hand to thrust it in the air, the latter sounds and looks stronger although it looks weirder.

He could simply do what another Gaffer suggested.

Did you see my earlier post in the thread? Link uses two hands to thrust the sword upward in the old Up Air animation already. There's no reason to change the animation, they're just doing it just because they can -- or to try and make the character look "fresh" and different even though the animation actually looks terrible. The only new functionality it can add is a slightly more horizontal hitbox around Link's shoulders and head. Its hitbox duration was already massive in both Melee and Brawl (40+ frames the hitbox is active for).

It's an awful change and they need to revert it to the old up stab. It doesn't do anything for the character other than making him look awkward.

Really hope this mechanic is implimented somehow. My favorite bit of motion control from Skyward Sword.

I think we may have just figured out how to make Link's FS canon: The sky grows dark and a brilliant beam of light shines down on his raised Master Sword, then unleashes a giant Sword beam in the form of a Skyward strike, that sweeps across the entire stage, decimating anything it touches. Pls, Sakurai

It's no problem. What this list really is doing is simply gauging the interest for a Smash 3DS tournament, rather than it being the actual sign-up list.

For a casual launch tournament it seems silly to even be worried about using a basic tournament ruleset.

I simply wish for the tournament to be as fair as possible. If that's not how SuperSah wants to organize it, then that's fine, too. He said that anyone can offer up suggestions as to what the rules should be, after all.
