Sakurai mentioned it being different than your standard online match. I don't know why he'd even mention online if Smash Run is local only.

Eh, most of the matches for the Project M tournament were set up using the IRC, so there would always be that if you got banned for whatever reason
Don't know why you would assume you'd get banned sometime soon *Shrugs*

You say that its too early cause your afraid of doing terrible or because you dont know if you will have the system or game yet?

If its about being terrible, this is a tournament for fun and learning. There will be more hard competitive tournament in the future im sure.

I'm just saying, it's not going to be "fair" by virtue of the metagame not existing yet, shoehorning a Brawl ruleset into it can't really change that.

Plus we don't really know how City and Town compares to Smashville, there's already differing platform placement.
 
So since we have like, a billion months before the 3DS release date, do I have time to become a SmashIRC regular and thus sneak into the headcount? =D

I agree that items in tournaments should always be off, a starman or heart container could reset an interesting match. Also, I'm bitter b/c I've died way too often to spawning items :/

I"ll be playing for fun. Its just we don't know when the game release. I just hope it release in the good timing for me to play.
 
Man I really do want to participate in a Gaf tourney, but I have no 3DS. Oh well, I'm assuming that there will be another one for the Wii U version when it comes out? I'll just see if I can jump in on that.

I'd be interested in a tournament but I probably don't even meet the entry requirements. Not sure if I'd be able to participate anyway yet either, far too early to tell if I'll have the time then.

I was talking about stages, but I'm also of a mind that the characters being so wildly different from one another makes it inherently imbalanced anyway.

I feel like we ought to just have fun with it, no one's going to be well-practiced when the game's that young.

Do you have a 3DS? Do you plan on buying Smash Bros for the 3DS? Do you have an internet connection for your 3DS? Congratulations, you pass the requirements
 
I'd love to participate, but my internet is not the best + I'll probably be too far from most of you guys to make any decent matches without lag, so I'd rather be only spectator :)
 
The direct impressed me with how much was shown! All stages have a final destination version?!
If only they topped the direct with the revealing of the king... Mr. G&W!
 
Saw this on Gamefaqs which was from the Smashboards concerning Snake.
Might be a bit much but i like the idea here since it makes sense to me.

"Let me elaborate on why Sheik's grenades hint at Snake's return. When Mega Man was first shown off his rush coil works similar to Sonic's spring jump at the time where people doubted Sonic would return due to the fan-made "rule" of guest characters (Third-Party) not returning but this was proven wrong with Sonic's return proving that guest characters can return in the Super Smash Bros series. Later we seen Villager's boxing gloves which caused people to doubt about Little Mac's inclusion simply because it would make him "unnecessary" but this again has been proven wrong with both of them using boxing gloves. Now we seen Sheik using grenades which is similar to Snake's grenades and again people doubt about Snake's return for this very reason despite them having proven wrong TWICE before? :facepalm: It should be clear there is a pattern to it but if people haven't realize this then it is just very sad. :(" -BlueSorrow
