I realise this is kind of a weak argument (and I'd actually love for Snake to return) but I feel like he's so popular that if he was returning he'd have been shown off by now.
"Snake Returns to Smash" would be something to get the internet talking about for a while.

Of course that might be planned for E3, I'm just speculating.

We also have to wonder if we'd get Hayter or Sutherland.

The only things I have seen are directed at nintendo heritage which should be moot after his appearance in Brawl.

Because the roster will reach a saturation point.

Because Sakurai has already stated that there will be cuts and a 3rd party character is the 1st likely cut to be made.

Because it costs money, even if in lawyers alone, to get a 3rd party character on board, which would only serve to promote a character whose creator spurns Nintendo at every possible turn.

If the online holds up for playing across the Atlantic I'd be down for a tourney, hell, beating you guys at smash bros is 90% of the reason I signed up for a NeoGAF account.

Same here, haha, it's like we have a strong smash fighting community right out of the box!

I believe that Sakurai did play on everyone's expectations about Mewtwo. I don't know if it was hint or not specifically but I still think Mewtwo will be playable. I say this because if you think back to Brawl we had six different playable pokemon. Then if you believe in the forbidden seven (mewtwo and minun & plusle) it was suppose to be 8 (9 if you count minun and plusle as two different characters). So if Sakurai was willing to have 8 playable pokemon, and we only know about 4 so far, I highly doubt Mewtwo won't return..at least I hope :S

That'd be the problem, one person would have to join in for every match and SD themselves before the match could start proper. I'd love to do this, but there's no way I'm buying a $200 piece of equipment I'd barely use
