Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Oh, I wasn't complaining.

And yeah, it's weird from what I've read that people aren't as receptive to this as I'd like. I've heard "purist" thrown around some. To me, this seems amazing, and it should even be at tournaments.

Isn't it similar to choosing the special you want for a fight in SFIV?

we don't know yet, for the record I think it will be like that/choosing assists in MvC, but we'll see

Lower your expectations, seriously. This is Sakurai. Remember the stage builder? It was half-baked. This custom move set thing we barely know anything about, we were only shown a few possible examples. For all you know it could just be a selection of different options for each special move -- nothing that you customize yourself and can "make".

This post really reminds me of what I thought the stage builder was gonna be like pre-release when it turned out to be nothing like what I wanted.

That's exactly what I'm expecting and I like it.
I hope people aren't expecting more...

Oh yes, I find customizable moves amazing as well, everyone have their preferences.
Edit : of course making new moves is impossible, nobody should expect that.

It would certainly become an addition to the competitive scene rather than a potential headache and/or non-viable option if it worked that way. But we'll have to wait and see.

I'll do the tournament if I can, but I might be in Melbourne without any Wifi for about a month, so if that's the case I'll just withdraw.
And just remember that "Summer" could mean late September, so a fall tournament might be more appropriate.

That'd be the problem, one person would have to join in for every match and SD themselves before the match could start proper. I'd love to do this, but there's no way I'm buying a $200 piece of equipment I'd barely use

How do the 3DS capture cards work? I mean, how do they attach to the 3DS and all, you don't have to do any kind of hardware modification do you? I'm always spending my money on random crap, so I might get one.

Introducing...

The Super Smash Summer BASH!! (Tentative)

Tourney is open to SmashGAF members only and the more frequent SmashIRC users. Ideas for rules will be appreciated. Tourney won't be on launch day, we'll give it a few weeks for people to prep.

This is the readying combatant list for the SmashGAF 3DS tournament. This early list is designed so we all have time to befriend each other and begin to plot tournament rules:

I'm interested! Count me in if it's still possible :)

There's no way Sakurai will reveal all the characters before the 3DS version comes out. He'll probably make certain characters have some bullshit requirement like "go to Smash run and wait for two hours before jumping off and dying" and will tell us what they are and how to unlock them as we get closer to the wiiu release.

Tournament rules:
Balloon Fight stage, Villager only, Up B all the time.

LOL, good one. I think Final smashes could potentially be allowed in the tournament if somehow you can tweak the individual frequency of them and other items. Always wanted to use them, they are just far too frequent even on Low

at best, the only items that would be on would be the ones that appeared in Brawl's ISP that also return for SSB4
.....but that's just even more complicated

Okay.

I'm going to create a list with everyone wanting to participate in the 3DS Summer Tourney.

Anyone from here on out, quote me, names will be added to the list.

EDIT: Sure thing Muzy. :-)

Count me in.

Rewatched the direct...again and noticed sakurai gave peach her melee second jump height back instead of her brawl...hop thing....All is right with the world.

I'd be up for a tourney, no idea why we're even thinking about it this early but whatever.

I read in some pages ago that it was most likely to be used as a list of interested people at the moment, having the real one come at a later date. Not sure if that has changed, though.

So after the direct the other day rank the newcomers in terms of most excited to least excited

1. Greninja
2. Mega Man
3. Little Mac
4. Villager
5. Wii Fit Trainer
6. Rosalina

Rosalina looks cool but her unique play style seems like it'll take a lot of effort to learn to be good with her. Greninja legit surprised me not just because I wasn't expecting him but because he looks like so much fun to play.
