Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Yeah, Link's new Up-air isn't good looking. It both looks dumb and awkward and pointlessly looks less like what it looked like in the game of its origin.

Why the heck are we discussing mains before anyone's played the game? Until you actually play with these characters and get a feel for the game it's impossible to say which characters you'll end up being best with or wanting to play. Half of my mains in smash 64 became ehh in melee (kirby and ness) and half of my mains in melee became ehh in brawl (Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff). Heck if you add in project M half my brawl mains are ehh for me in m (mr G&w, rob)

Looking at my most hyped list and knowing my past history, I'll probably end up hating Mega Man and Greninja and end up having WFT and Rosalina as mains despite being less interested to play them.

Like twelve pages behind now. I was all caught up too lol.

@Hyperactivity: Saw your avatar for me, lol. I don't think no one made it avatar sized tho right? So I can't wear it. PM me it incase I miss it when its avatar sized then I'll wear it for atleast two weeks.

I'll be in. Never really played competitively before, but I'll try and probably suck.

That's cool
Could someone avatar size this

Here's your avatar, if someone could avatar size it.

Mr. PurrpleDot reminded me of something, heh

Mr.Purple dot referred to to JoshJepson's LP of Metroid Fusion
This came from the versus channel, which he and AttackingToucans colaborate on.
Dissapointed nobody understood Mr.PurpleDot reference

Looking at that Color TV Game 15 gif it looks like there's a colored flash around a character when they score a kill. I hope that remains in stock mode--being able to definitively see, mid-match, who killed who was something I wish they hadn't removed after 64.

You surly sound like my good friend. He have that kind of lucks where he were hyped with some characters but dislike other characters. You know who he ended up maining because he ended up being good with those characters.

So there was another instance the weird Up-Air was used (I thought it was one-handed before, but it clearly shows 2 hands here). Link also uses a jump slash here. And you'll notice Link's sword glows blue in all of the attacks he does here. Seems they made the blue streak thing really strong.

His legs are awkwardly spread out and looks like he is leaning back.

Thank you. Fixed it.

Just noticed that this 1: this is the FD version of the stage and 2: clearly is score and not stock but there's no timer

You see, part of the reason I main a character in Super Smash Bros is the link I have to them and the franchise they come from. The reason I main Pikachu since SSB64 isn't only because it is a fun character to play as, but also because Pokémon is a big part of my life. Same goes to Samus/Zamus, Peach and Sonic (to a lesser extent). Having that in mind, the list of possible mains for me is like, less than half of the currently revealed roster. I do agree that there is no pointing in discussing this now and that the gameplay/mechanics of a character is the most important aspect (as much as I love Mega Man, I will not play as him if I don't like his play style), but still.

You don't happen to live in CT or have gone to UCF in FL have you? lol

You've probably already seen it, but here's a still shot of the new up air from the press pack.

I think it looks like a pretty bad change. I guess there were trying to make it look the the SS thing in some way? Meh.

Here's a question for you guys. Sakurai says he wants to reboot the franchise with a roster of 40 characters and only 40 characters. He puts this in your hands. What do you slim down to?

40's an easy one because I'd relegate a ton of vets to alt-skins.

Starters
1 Mario
2 Zelda
3 Bowser
4 Yoshi
5 Donkey Kong
6 Link
7 Zelda
8 Pikachu
9 Kirby
10 King Dedede
11 Samus
12 Captain Falcon
13 Fox
14 Ness
15 Pit
16 Marth
17 Olimar
18 Ice Climbers
19 Villager
20 Wii Fit Trainer

Unlockables
1 Luigi
2 Rosalina & Luma
3 Wario
4 Ganondorf
5 Pichu Bros.
6 Jigglypuff
7 Meta Knight
8 ROB
9 Sonic
10 Mega Man

Endgame Unlockables
1 Impa
2 Mewtwo
3 Greninja
4 Little Mac
5 Mr. Game & Watch
6 Anthony Higgs
7 Wonder Red
8 Snake
9 Pac-Man
10 Takamaru

"Endgame Unlockables" would require some kind of global ceiling to be hit, or just in general require something other than the optional "Play X matches."

Yea, it was revealed in Little Mac's trailer at the end.

I don't think it was ever implied the FD stuff was limited to "For Glory" mode. We've seen stuff like Rosalina's Final Smash being done on SMG FD.

The 2nd point I'm not sure about. Maybe you can hide the timer? Maybe it is a first to X points? Who knows.

lol I've seen that before I even thought that it was one-handed. What the hell was I thinking lol. Thanks for reminding me about the image.

It would have looked cooler if Link was standing up right and was using one hand. That would be much more similar to Skyward Sword's Skyward Strike.
SSSS

I had many matches in older games where I would make it a time-battle but setting time to infinite. Really fun to just play with friends for a few hours completely without competition.

Yeah, I felt it was just interesting to point out. And that is what I was thinking on the second point. Maybe we can look at other scenes to see if that's there

What's that box flying through the air?

Why does DK come back in with 30% already on?

Just checked the Direct and that is the only scene that has UI across pokemon, assist trophies and items. So the score number are in the same layer as the UI.
It also got me thinking that there may be a robust replay system in this game similar to Mario Kart TV in Mario Kart 8

Why does DK come back in with 30% already on?
Either its training mode or DK has a handicap. That might also be why there is no timer (but did training mode have score? I never really used it all that much)

The only reason i buy Nintendo consoles is for Smash bros and Zelda to be honest. It collects dust after that. I guess i'll wait for a smash bundle for any of the consoles and lower price since i don't really want any of the available games.

I'd say a Smash Bundle is unlikely tbh. Its basically an arbitrary price drop on something that will be a system seller anyways. Although I could be wrong on this. Nintendo has done stranger things in the past.

More to your question though, I'd honestly get the Wii U. Even if it means waiting a bit longer as opposed to Smash, the new Zelda is likely going to be unveiled at E3 this year and it would be nice to have a Wii U ready for when it does. The only advantage the 3DS has imo is that it has Smash first, and it already has a pretty solid Zelda game.

WiiU smash bundle wont be this winter. Theyll get profits from the game and then bundle it. Expect a MK8 bundle in winter

Not sure if this has been answered, but does anyone know what song was played during the direct on part where it showed Megaman's move set? It's really catchy and I can't seem to get it out of my head.
