Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

My fingers are crossing for individual break the target for all characters.

I'm hoping for the same.

And hey I just remembered this pic of the day and seeing as to how this isn't Smash Run, what do you think it could be? Or maybe it is Smash Run.

I had no idea who Greninja was before his trailer but hot dog I love his design. And Smash is a great advertising machine cause on Wednesday I became a proud owner of Pokemon Y lol. Greninja here I come lol.

Something odd is happening here with Marth's counter and Bowser's fire.

So Bowser is breathing fire and Marth is using his counter, but it seems Marth doesn't attack back due to the counter even though he is clearly getting hit. They may have changed something about Marth's counter? Marth seems to getting pushed back by the fire also. I got no idea what this means.

Mario also doesn't seem like he is getting hurt either. They both don't have the Franklin Badge so they aren't reflecting it.

----------------
Maybe its a change in how fire works? You can see Mario kinda running through it. So bowser and charizard (and I guess the fire flower) would be different on how they hit now?

- Some people didn't like Greninja due to knee-jerk reactions that, somehow, his appearance disqualifies Mewtwo.

- A lot of Ridley whining (and subsequent bannings).

- Lots of discussions over Sal's new leak.

- Pretty much liked everything else.

Don't forget ErenJaeger lied about playing the demo, and I'm surprised that people didn't ban him for that. He straight out admitted it right after the Direct, and I'm surprising that Smashboard moderators are more forgiven with the trolls.

Also they had a fun project where they would crack the "time stamp" into Aug Release, 55 characters, 16 newcomers/secret characters.

It would be really weird if Marth couldn't counter Bowser's firebreath anymore. It would be even stranger if it applied to all projectiles.

The counter attack was supposed to mimic how in Fire Emblem a character counter attacks after being hit in the enemy phase - but in FE, if you used a melee weapon, you can't counter projectiles.

So, it is possible that they could remove Marth's ability of countering projectiles - if he keeps his invincibility anyway, it shouldn't be too bad.

Oh, nice to have your support for the Ridley cause. I was fairly confident he was a playable character in the game, since Sakurai refused to show him in the Pyrosphere (or in any other stage, really), among other things, but after the Direct I am pretty sure he is playable. The same is valid for Palutena as well. I will gladly eat a dozen of crows if both of them aren't playable.
Sorry, I don't give a single damn about that. :P
:/ I would trade the Smash Run mode for more musics in the game.
lol not really

That's what it looks like to me, he still has the invinc but he's not countering the fire. On one hand, Marth never used counter often in competitive play but on the other hand it did have its niche uses and countering a projectile sometimes was an okay decision to make depending on the circumstances and etc.

Seems like an odd change to me regardless, though.

Hmm... Was not aware about what that user did. Might have to bring that up.

Personally I not really that interested in the 3ds version.

I hope the wii u version doesn't get delayed.
I'm holding off until the Wii U version is released. Controller everyday.

Map of Smash Run.
It's like the SSE's Great Maze, but with enemies from various series. This seems like a really good replacement for SSE.

Fire Flower seems to be unaffected.

This explanation makes the most sense, but it doesn't explain Mario not getting hurt. :/

EDIT: I mean the lack of knockback for Mario.

Well I suspected ever since they shown Palutena's stage. They wouldn't straight out named Ridley and Palutena when they shown their stages, so it made me feel that they don't really want to throw out their names around so easily which kinda made it obvious for me. Also both stages were the stages that you would fight both characters respectively, which led me to believe that those stages would be their stages rather than Samus and Pit.

Why so much people think that, of ALL Square Enix characters, SORA is the one with more chance ?
I don't think he is the one with more chances, but of all Squenix characters, he is the one I would mind the less being in the game.

He is better than any Final Fantasy character, at least (besides FF9's Vivi), imo.

Nice. I haven't paid attention to this detail. One more reason to believe they are playable (besides the trophy quiz thing in the Direct, with the fake Palutena, etc).

+ 1 for Primal Dialga theme. So good. Too bad Dialga doesn't seem to be a PokeBall Pokemon in the game. :(

Perhaps Marth's counter now absorbs a certain amount of hits before he strikes back. That would solve the issue of using Counter to block multi-hit attacks.

Little Mac going straight to the S-tier?

Predict the tiers, peeps.

He'll be a high tier, especially if the new ledge mechanics makes the ground game more important than the air game. I'm going to say that he will benefit a bunch from his player getting to choose stages, as platforms and jumping will be effective ways to get away from him

Mac will probably be great on FD, but platforms might give him trouble. For Glory should really have battlefield.

Also lol Sora and Geno

Thinking back on the direct, we didn't get any details on single player modes, did we? Just a vague connection between assist trophies and all- star mode. And I guess confirmation of all star mode :p

If Square Enix characters were in, I would say there'll be a character that originated on Nintendo consoles. Sora probably came from the period of time when there were as many, if not more, KH games on Nintendo consoles and 3 was far off.

I would say
Geno
Mallow
Black Mage (Vivi is PS1, srry)
Neku (not really, but still)
Crono
Secret of Mana character?
Dragons from Bubble Bobble
etc.

man, if only >_>

I'm hoping for the same.

if only ;_;
but I think even if it happened, it won't be WiiU exclusive.

Will 3DS get all the game modes from Brawl? If not, what will be cut?

Yeah, I know. Well, I have a strange feeling that Smash 3DS might be rushed game in sense of single players contents but I hope that I'm wrong.

Fake out Palutena was amazing. I saw some rage reactions when they saw behind of Palutena Trophy.

If there were going to be a Square Enix character in this, shouldn't it just be Geno or Mallow?

Naw, It could be Warrior of Light, or Final Fantasy Character that can changed into three different classes. Chocobo would be awesome.

Nope. Sakurai will also be discussing how the 3DS and Wii U version interface with one another at a later date.

DaBoss. Thank you for all your analytical work. I'm enjoying all your posts.

Sora sucks.

Also, are people still clamoring for Geno to be in Smash Bros?

For NeoGAF, it was pretty rare for people to brought up Geno. I would like to see Geno because i still have nostalgia glasses on for Super Mario RPG; however there is a reality check that Geno wouldn't be in the game AT ALL..

Other forums I have seen people brought Geno up occasionally but not that much as Brawl tho. I think people realized that Geno have no chance at all now.

They should have online multiplayer break the targets.Players have to split up or help each other to break them.
Even better is competition between two people, each having their own set of targets. First to break all their targets is the winner.

I remember people crying for Geno during Brawl lol. I think it was more because Geno's name appeared on a poll Sakurai posted up before Brawl.

If you're referring to my post, I was just trying to say Geno seems to be the most likely Square Enix rep for Smash Bros. Not likely per se.

Actually, I didn't see your post. I only thought about it because someone mentioned Square Enix characters and for some reason Geno popped into my head.

Would Sakurai consider Geno a 3rd Party character? I mean, like - he's only ever appeared in Mario games, even if they were developed by Square. If he was interested in including Geno, I don't think he'd be a "Guest Character" in the same way as Sonic or Snake... it'd probably be more in line with Pokemon or Fire Emblem, a normal character with some hoops to jump through. If he's ever even considered it.

Geno would be awesome though, such a cool character and the moveset pretty much makes itself... too bad the odds are only slightly better than Banjo-Kazooie's. :(

First it was "too many Mario characters", now this.

I don't get it either. I mean, I am never touching a Pokemon game ever again until they make a console edition of the series, due to my staunch "I have better things to when I'm out of the house than play video games" policy.

But even I see Greninja as a neat badass addition, and removing the Trainer makes some sense.

I know this will hurt you, Boss, but I think "too many Fox clones" is a more reasonable argument to have than this.

They'd have to still be clones for that to happen. I'd compare them to Ryu and Sakura. Some parts of the moveset are similar. Everything else completely their own thing.

Yeah, I don't know what they did to her face, but it looks sooo much better. Brawl's model wasn't bad (not the face at least), but for some reason it looks so much better now!

If I had to take a guess, it's because they made her look more stylized.

That's a phenomenon not exclusive to Smash. Retro kept making Samus more "anime"-like after each Prime installment, and D-Rockets took it even further with the Other M cinematics. Similar thing is probably going on here with Smash 4, albeit a bit more justified since the results mean the characters fit in better with the crossover vibe rather than being too much on the edgy side like Brawl was.
