Sorry you're not enjoying it. I agree with you on Dark Souls being better (it's a masterpiece, really) and that Earthen Peak looks terrible, but I'm still really loving the game overall. Oh, and yes, bosses have been pushovers this time around.

For what it's worth I really disliked, in fact despised, the final ~15% of DS1, I'm guessing that I still have a good 20-25% of the game left if I only have 2 out of 4 so far. How is the end game of DS2? Does it take a big dive in quality like DS1?

No, it actually gets better, in my opinion. Also, you probably have around 50% left.

Had another boss glitch...

I had almost downed Ancient Dragon, when all of a sudden the boss music completely stopped and along with it, the Ancient Dragon. After a brief pause he started to fly, and thinking that he was going to do that AoE fire breath attack, I ran the fuck out of the way. Only he didn't, he just slowly descended back down to the ground and looked around for a second or two. After watching him do that a couple times I just started attacking the thing until I killed it. Music turned on for a half second before the final hit. Not sure why I've had all these issues, but at least I didn't have to fight it again.

The music seems to consistently stop and restart if you run to the very end of the arena (opposite of the fog door) in the PS3 version at least.

You really think the player base is split....? You haven't played a R* Multiplayer methinks XD.

Personally, I think it's fine as it is. It is very easy to summon or be summoned in DS2. In fact, the online is the only thing that is hands down, indisputably and unequivocally better than DS1.

Well no i was talking about the other games because this game level apparently doesnt matter much but then that can possibly create a crappier situation being up against a guy with more stats and abilities.

By many accounts, the last portions of DS2 are much better, with some of the best areas in the game. I just made it to Iron Keep myself. I don't even know how much I have left but I think it's a substantial amount. In any case, DS2 seems to be a strong finisher unlike Dark Souls.

I just got my first hatemail \o/ Guy invaded me in shrine of amana but I was with a guy and the NPC (felicia). He didn't like being in the middle of the sandwich.

So the only achievement I'm missing is related to a spell I need which requires that I reach rank 3 in the sunlight bros.

Any good farming spots so I dont have to wait to be summoned 30 times? I heard someone in Things Betwix drops them.

The big guys in The Harvest drop them. But not often.

If you're in NG++, just go to one of the more popular areas. Like Heide's Tower of Flame. You will be summoned pretty fast.

Undead Sinner had me being summoned the instance I placed the sign. People were thirsty lol.

Super quick and easy bosses to do it in:

-Covetous Demon
-The Rotten
-Demon of Song
-Dual Dragonriders
-Medusa with no head

The first dragon ring is meh.

The third dragon ring makes a massive difference, but I think that's for NG+ only.

I found the 3rd dragon ring in NG. Don't remember where.

Edit: Treasure in
Dragon Shrine

As far as I can tell the sound effect of his flame attacks seems to interfere with the music.

Finished up the
Dragon Bro's last night, love the way the set looks and its really light for good protection. Wish the on use chestk buff lasted longer than 5 seconds - maybe like 30 would be nice, and even though the head on use is wothless for combat, I love it just for the lol factor.

The more I read about Soul Memory, the more I wish From had just left the system alone from the first game. It works fine enough as you're playing through the game, but for end game PvP and NG+ it's just messing everything up. Now we're getting much more unbalanced fights between hugely disparate SLs; dueling using an agreed SL meta is now impossible since there's no reason not to spend your souls on levelling as soon as you get them, resulting in more cookie cutter builds that can do everything. Soul memory should only matter until around SL70, or whatever point in the game you can fully upgrade your weapons, after that it should go back to matching based on SL again.

Besides, armour having stat requirements and the lack of reliably getting cracked orbs in NG means twinking wouldn't even be much of a problem anyway.

I actually kind of like the balance point they seem to have reached, in which NG is for "everybody" to have a relatively clean experience (summon ranges & soul memory, less invasions), and NG+ is for people interested in remaining in the world and carrying on exploring/playing/dueling/invading etc (no summon ranges).

I lost a match against 3 blue sentinels last night. One was a good match. One via calling off cliff like an idiot lol. And another via lag back stab. Slowly getting closer to not being a sinner. Will then start invading again.

Had one match where we had a starting contest. Lol. Won in the end though.

Also advancing on my 2nd character. Being a pure miracle build with enough stats to weird longsword. May limit myself 150 lv for low lv PvP and have other for high lv PvP. That and fun to replay as low lv character again

Just like in DS1 it becomes my go-to victory emote.

I have a feeling (at least a hope) that something will be patched in for this soon, as everyone maxing out their SL is obviously going to ruin any kind of late game pvp flavor. Making SM irrelevant after a SL, as you suggest, and have only SL matter at that point would work best as it would solve the twink issue and not screw up high level pvp co-op/summoning.

Hopefully they do change it. It'll be even more necessary later in the game's life just so you can even see anyone online. Players will be spread way too thin among Soul Memory levels for any sort of reliable coop or PvP, let alone dueling.

What's the best way to be called as a Bell Bro? I need the 30 kills to get my last sorcery but there is noone online or what. I'm NG+.

Generally I just sit in the Iron Keep's first bonfire and wait for the ring to go off. I got most of my invasions done pretty quickly that way.

So, Pyromancy question for folks.

I'm pretty much a straight-up VGR, END, STR and DEX monster. But, I have a softer side, too. Trying to dabble in some magic during my NG+ and thought, hey, why not Pyromancy.

Am I right in assuming that Pyro strength is only determined by the level of my Pryo Glove (which is +10), and NOT stats like INT and FTH?

No. Its decided by your glove AND the SUM of your INT and FTH.

It's still formidable with no stat investment though, flame swathe in particular does huge damage, and the poisoning and toxic mists are super useful in a lot of areas.

Well....crap. Guess I have my soul farming to do. Like, a lot of farming. My INT is like 10 and my FTH is like 5. LOL.

I wouldn't bother, base level pyromancy with a fully upgraded flame can still help you out a lot, even in NG+. Hell I used the dark hand +10 for ages since that was the first one I found, and even with how rubbish the scaling is with any amount of humanity I still found it extremely useful. Every character can make use of pyromancy, it serves a similar utility as the first game as letting you have fun with no stat investment.

Been invading people the for the past couple of days, and getting invaded by Blue Sentinels. So much fun. Just a distraction before I head on with the rest of the game.

I still need;

Ring of Blades +2
Ring of Steel Protection +2

the pyro glove's base damage is only based on how much you upgrade it
but it gets additional bonus fire damage based on your faith and int combined. i think its the lower of the 2.
so if you have 3 int and 6 faith, you're only getting bonus fire from that 3. if you want more you have to push your int to 6(or higher)

Indeed, I use it on my Dex based character with only 10 int and faith, hits fairly hard, though I know it got a nerf, would think it is still useful though and its nice to have some magic back up in hairy situations/bosses.

Yeah, it's still good even without stat investment. You will gain more damage with scaling.

No, it scales with the sum. Dark scales with the lower of the two.

Wow, following your advice I have been sitting here for more than five minutes and nothing. :( I even went to belfry sol in order to provoke invasions but nothing happened. I guess I should try later tonight when there's more people around.
