Seeing Prime 1 Samus always makes me sad... It's a reminder of what could have been if they took things in a different direction.
If a Square-Enid character makes it in, there are only really four options:
Moogle
Chocobo
Slime
Chrono
Chrono is way down on the list though. 90% chance it will be one of their mascot characters, because that is what this game is about. Sora and, in fact, every other named character who isn't a Chocobo, Slime or Moogle has no chance.

Black Shadow I guess. Though honestly I think Cap is enough because F-Zero doesn't have much of a story by which to highlight characters.

Samurai Goroh is the only character I would want to see as a second F-Zero rep, but sadly he is just an AT again in SSB4. Black Shadow is boring.
The Black Mage would be a pretty interesting character, no? Not to mention its design is pretty iconic.
Edit: I see Hyperactivity mentioned him on the last page - Black Mage could definitely work, give him Fire, Blizzard, Thunder and Poison/Warp as specials, use a staff for normal attacks, Death/Charm/Sleep for Final Smash. Bish bash bosh done.
Samurai Goroh has always been the obvious contender since he's his rival, but he's been ruled out yet again.
The only other alternative I'd see is Black Shadow, who in hindsight I think should have been the one to be the Cap clone rather than Ganondorf ended up becoming.
Black Shadow or Rick Wheeler. Black Shadow for obvious reasons but Rick Wheeler since he was in GP Legends and becomes the new Falcon as of F-Zero Climax to my knowledge.
Black Shadow or Black Cat? Is that her name. Also I might be confusing character names for vehicle names. Let me go get my F-Zero book.
Edit: Got my book, I was referring to Jody Summer, who drives the White Cat. With Goroh still being an AT, those are the only two who really stand a chance, I think.

I didn't really play SSE. I wouldn't mind something similar returning. I just hope he keeps the Event Challenges from the previous games.
I see what you mean, but I don't think lack of story should really prevent characters from appearing in the game. I think Black Shadow is a perfect candidate. If they swap out Ganondorf's movesets for something new, they could give his original moveset to Black Shadow.
I keep forgetting about Goroh. I feel like he'll be AT status forever.

Yes, they could go with a generic character with an iconic design like Black Mage, White Mage or something like that. All of those have a better chance than any named character, unless it's a named character who is also one of their mascots, like Mog the Moogle or Boco the Chocobo.
I wonder what this games challenges screen will look like. Since KI:U had it, I think it's safe to say SSB4 will also have it.
Was the fire chomp thing from Mario 3 revealed in the flood of pictures that came after the direct? I didn't notice him in the Smash Run section of the direct, so I'm guessing that must be the reason no one mentioned it being in the PotD.

Would Sakurai consider Geno a 3rd Party character? I mean, like - he's only ever appeared in Mario games, even if they were developed by Square. If he was interested in including Geno, I don't think he'd be a "Guest Character" in the same way as Sonic or Snake... it'd probably be more in line with Pokemon or Fire Emblem, a normal character with some hoops to jump through. If he's ever even considered it.
Geno would be awesome though, such a cool character and the moveset pretty much makes itself... too bad the odds are only slightly better than Banjo-Kazooie's.
Oh dude, Banjo/Kazooie as a combo character would be super cool. How have I never thought of that before?

So Bowser is breathing fire and Marth is using his counter, but it seems Marth doesn't attack back due to the counter even though he is clearly getting hit. They may have changed something about Marth's counter? Marth seems to getting pushed back by the fire also. I got no idea what this means.
Mario also doesn't seem like he is getting hurt either. They both don't have the Franklin Badge so they aren't reflecting it.

I believe the fact of the matter is Marth just gets pushed back by projectiles when countering. Watch as he slides back.
Mario though. I'm completely unsure. No way he has that many invincibility frames off ledge, and he doesn't use darknes.
Actually, I think these may all be custom movesets.
I am sooo sad that i am not going to be able to play this games until after some years... theres 0% chance that i am going to have money (and if i had, i would have to spent it in more "basic" things), and i have already watched the direct 3 times... ;_;

They should bring in James McCloud for another F-Zero rep and he plays exactly like Fox and has a Landmaster FS.
