Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Wow, following your advice I have been sitting here for more than five minutes and nothing. :( I even went to belfry sol in order to provoke invasions but nothing happened. I guess I should try later tonight when there's more people around.

No chance you are wearing the name-engraved ring, right?

Also, are you seeing other summon signs on the ground in the area (like dragon's covenant or red stone signs)?

I just popped on two seconds ago and got summoned for the invasion in less than a minute.

Yeah, it's still good even without stat investment. You will gain more damage with scaling.

No, it scales with the sum. Dark scales with the lower of the two.

Huh, good to know. Guess I'll pump a few more points into INT and FTH, but won't go hog wild. Still need to pick up Flame Swathe. Thought I already had it, but just checked. Nope.

Does the Gyrm warrior set have gloves and greaves to match the armor and helmet? Or do they just want you to use the normal Gyrm leggings and gauntlets with that set?

Flame Swathe is so awesome. Wish I knew about it during my first NG run.

I was lucky to stumble onto it during my NG run. It was a welcome nuke for PvE (bye, Gargoyles), and it played a big part in my success in mid-game PvP. As more players started to recognize the spell and react properly, my kill/death ratio regressed to its prior, pathetic average.

Can't be that bad now. Can it?

I haven't tried it yet after the patch but it sure sounds like an exaggeration. I dealt like 1300-1500 damage with the swathe prepatch at least, with near 60 combined INT/FTH. I'll have to try it after dinner.

What's the best way to be called as a Bell Bro? I need the 30 kills to get my last sorcery but there is noone online or what. I'm NG+.

I have noticed with that covenant that it often takes me a long time to get summoned for the first time in a session, but once that happens, subsequent summonings are much more frequent. Maybe that's just a coincidence, but it's happened to me multiple times.

Usually I hang out at the servants quarters bonfire to get summoned. I don't the location really matters much, though. One time I even got summoned to Belfry Sol from there.

I know we are a ways off still from an OT3, but what do you guys thinking for a title?

Dark Souls 2 OT| Tights of Judgement
Dark Souls 2 OT| Gavlan Wheel, Gavlan Deal

Hopefully Lightning Spear and Miracles haven't been nerfed much either. I've been loving them with my second character which is a STR/FAI build.

Tighten the second suggestion to just OT | Wheel and Deal. Don't wanna spoil it for the noobs

Hanging out in Lost Bastille or Iron Keep seem to be the fastest. I was at McDuff getting some upgrading done yesterday and I was summoned before I could scroll down to the gloves I wanted 5 times in a row.

Now those I have tried. I don't think anything happened to the Lightning Spears (+ great/Sun). The patch notes only mention Wrath of God and the Healing spells. Wrath of God is still good, but not ridiculous like before. Heal only had the cast speed reduced a bit.

So, I wasn't planning on putting any souls into caster stats, but after I got a few spice items and heard about the existence of attunement slot rings maybe I should go for one spell to use in PVP.

Is there any good spells for a meelee character to use with Bandit starting stats, if you spice the hell out of it, while still being reasonable regarding the number of spices needed? Unfortunately, it seems you can't spice the requirement below 10 Int/Faith, so I would probably be limited to doing it for a miracle, as that would only require a 2 SL investment for my Bandit (or none at all if I use the King's Crown), which doesn't leave me with a lot of options. Would 25 Sceptic's Spices for Sunlight Blade be at all feasible if I do some grinding? Would it even be worth it?

Edit: Hmm, with Ring of Knowledge, Crown of Kings and one SL invested in Int, hexes would theoretically be possible, even though it would cost two ring slots. Any ideas?

Oh thanks. Seems like they only tweaked them. More lightning spears to the face!

30 kills in a row and no deaths. Dayum this chariot lance is a beast at +5 and the Old Leo Ring makes it even beastlier.

It's OK. I think it's effectiveness benefits a lot from laggy connections, because if your opponent is even moderately competent it is really easy to dodge and punish, and if they are good, it is easy to parry and riposte. The damage output is not great either; it takes 3 instances of the triple-hit R2 attack to kill most people in NG+, and it can't stunlock like most other weapons. It's also very heavy for its damage output, so you are going to have to trade off something to deal with the weight.

It works well against people who don't know what it is, because they will underestimate the range, in laggy situations where it becomes more difficult to time a dodge, and in corridor fights where your opponent can't roll sideways. It is also very effective in fights where you have the numerical advantage, since you can let the other guy occupy the opponent's attention, then knock them down with a well-time two-handed strong attack.

Yeah I'm not in NG+, but it is incredibly easy to parry, but it's great because people don't know what it is so they try to avoid it.

I've had tons of OHKO's and 2HKO's when I counter attacks because of the Old Leo Ring, and keeping my level at a constant in NG (100), I farmed in Aldia's to fully upgrade and the damage is insane.

Would hardly hold up in NG+, but it's just ridiculous fun :P

Does it make you look as stout at the armor does?
Kinda it's the legs that does it as your far taller. Look:

I wanted that gyrm anvil flail but oh well.

Don't have that ring equipped. And yeah I see dragon marks and red marks on the ground so I don't know. Could it be level related? I thought it didn't matter in NG+([...])?

Tried all those and nothing in ten minutes. What's killing me is that when I hang around one of the belfries, I get invaded by grey spirits of the bellbros covenant. :(

I guess I'm just unlucky.

I've read on TA a method to do that offline by yourself with the red phantoms (which count apparently) spawning randomly in Belfry Sol. I think I'm gonna do that.

So I'm asking this question again.

Dual Wielding, I'm confused.

I'm at 50str/30dex and when I dual wield it seems to do less damage than just power stancing a single sword.

What's up with that
?

I believe there's some penalty for dual wielding but I think using dual maces mitigates this. I haven't tried so someone else can explain it better.

Thinking about it some more, sunlight weapon is probably a wasteof effort, seeing as fire Weapon does pretty much the same thing, and does not require nearly as much effort.

What's a good weapon to infuse with fire? I was planning to build a bit of a tank with lots of Vigor, Endurance, Vitality and maybe Adaptability, no casting stats and just enough Str/Dex for whatever weapon I settle on.

The music seems to consistently stop and restart if you run to the very end of the arena (opposite of the fog door) in the PS3 version at least.

I was standing directly next to the boss. I guess the boss and I could've been in that area special area that causes the music to stop, but there's still the issue with the boss' behavior. Is he supposed to act weird? Is there some Sif/Royal Rat Authority-like ending to this fight?

Just finished the game and started my NG+ run. Thought I was in for a treat at the start
with those new enemies with the birds
but it is surprisingly easy. Unfortunately.

Dark Souls II |OT3| You'll be around when I warp in back
Dark Souls II |OT3| This thread has a pleasant scent

I love how I spent last night getting my ass handed to me by The Lost Sinner and finally beat her after about 10+ tries, then they go nerf her the next day. Thanks, From!

Well....crap. Guess I have my soul farming to do. Like, a lot of farming. My INT is like 10 and my FTH is like 5. LOL.

I was stuck against the [late game boss]
Giant King
last night so I went why not try pyromancy?
For the record I have 1 int, 8 faith and no attunment slots whatsoever.
With the ring that gives 2 attunment slots I loaded Great Combustion and Fire Storm.
Guess what? I killed him in my first try with 2 Fire Storm and 4 Great Combustion attacks :|
I was like WTF? I was only doing like 110 damage with my Halberd.
Spells are really broken and pyro is still so powerful even without any stat investment.
