Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I'm really confused by how it works. My friend and I cooped in NG+, and he was level 124 with SM 4 mil. I was level 150 with SM 7.6 mil (because I was at the end of NG+ and he was at the beginning of it). And he could summon me without issues (with name-engraved ring). According to this tool, we'd be completely out of range for both levels and soul memory. Go figure.
In fact, he seemed to see my sign way more easily than during our NG runs with our other toons, where sometimes there'd be this delay in our signs showing up. Really weird.

Probably the best take on it.

There's only two things that I don't understand from the patch:

1) Pyromancy “Firestorm,” “Fire Tempest,” “Chaos Storm” – Time to activation made longer. Why? It was already pretty long to begin with. I get reducing the pyro damage (I thought it was a little bit too high TBH), but the casting speed for these spells wasn't short.

2) Area boss nerfing.
I didn't think the bosses needed tweaking at all. In fact, they should look at some of the tanks they have on the way to the bosses. Leave the bosses as the beasts they are, but fix some of the regular enemies (particularly those with no apparent stamina issues).

Why are they making this game easier? I mean, nerfing the easy as hell first boss, really?

Ah well, pyromancy nerf is welcome. Screw online pyro spammers.

Yea, I'm not sure anyone really has it figured out for NG+ and beyond. I've regularly cooped with a friend that had 3 times my SM. I hope they haven't changed it, but I'm not too worried as literally every theory so far about how it works has been incorrect.

I think that might be a bad translation.

Firestorm, Fire Tempest, Chaos Storm, Flame Swathe and Forbidden Sun damages reduced.
Firestorm, Fire Tempest and Chaos Storm duration time increased.

I just beat it, SL34.
Pretty satisfied with the game overall.

Edit: What? You don't start automatically NG+? Well that's fortunate for me because there are still many things I didn't do in NG.

Nerfing the Shrine of Amana sucks. It wasn't that hard, you can easily co-op if you need to and there's even a NPC summon for the hardest bit if you want. I'm pretty disappointed. Prepare to Casul indeed.

Maybe I can see the first boss because he's supposed to be easy and that stomp could one shot you, but I have no idea why for LS. That's a decent fight that properly punishes you.

I never ran into any boss the level of O&S or the Maneaters boss fights from the first two games.

Hmm. Are there other options for a melee build aside from sniping or maybe running a gauntlet? A simple yes or no would suffice as I don't want to spoil anything as far as strategy/approaches.

Yes there is. And in case you want to know how (and it's not like its some super secret), just view the spoiler below.

In the Shrine there are enough pillars and environmental obstacles that you can slowly snake your way through it without using magic or a bow. A solid magic defense shield (which should be in your repertoire as a melee user), some careful maneuvering, a nice, quick weapon with a good AOE reach will be enough to handle the Shrine.

On the Xbox 360 134,335 have beat this game
On the PS3 157,146 people beat it.

An early indication of the NPD?
Game couldn't have sold less than 300,000 if that is the amount of people who beat this long hard game.
The game beating achievement was at about 30% rarity last I checked on PS4, so that probably means at least 450k people bought the game on PS3, albeit not necessarily in the US. Still, pretty damn good so far I imagine.

It has good scaling for the first playthrough. How far are you in the game?
I'm far past that I'm at Aldia now I was just wondering if I should pick it up on my co-op character.
It's got great stats and scaling (to my memory) for the category, but it requires Twinkling Titanite so I just went with the Bastard Sword instead. Close enough and dirt cheap to upgrade.
That's the stage I was at I found it when my bastard was pretty much better than it was so I never tried it.

So I used some of my ascestics to reset the rotten guy trying to get the luca achievements but couldnt, that boss can kill luca pretty fast so I killed myself then I reset the
guardian dragon
to get an extra Geyser but I dont plan to beat the boss

My questions are
if I go to NG+ with
Sinner and Dragon
bosses in +2 it will to to +3?

Also luca achivement can be stored to the second run or I have to do it three times in the same run.

This game, man. THIS GAME.

So, I decided to start summoning people on my way up to the A.D. fight to help clear out the mobs so they won't respawn later. I realized this might take a while, so of course I give the boss a go each time. I know this is probably the worst way to tackle the boss (with its increased health and one-hit KO capabilities), but I figure it might help me learn the mechanics better. So about 8 or 9 tries later, this guy I summoned is helping me clear the way. We get through the boss door and he dies immediately (much like many of the phantoms I've summoned for the fight). So I give the boss a go and about 5 minutes go by when I realize I'm getting relatively close to killing him. When his health gets to about 10% I get a warning telling me my sword is at risk. "Shit" I thought, "I guess I'll have to equip some other random weapon when I get a safe moment." But I keep hacking away and hacking away, dodging the flames until there's but a sliver left on his health bar. As the boss reigns up to do his under-the-legs fire attack, I decide to go for broke. On my final swing with my sword, my weapon breaks and the boss dies.

One of the most exhilarating moments I've ever experienced in a game.

Just wait until you want the equipment!

SUCCESS. Luca doesn't die that easily to Smelter after the update. Now I just need to talk to her twice more for the trophy. Bernhardt next.

If we've summoned the characters for their achievements and they've died in the past, does that mean we can't get it anymore?

Also, it seems they've lessened the amount of time you can stay in a memory, at least
Jeigh's
, so that you can't arrow kill GL anymore?
