Man, gotta say it's refreshing to go full light armor. Got Licia's outfit cuz of my high faith and it's great to have heavy gear and still be under the load limit. Really liking this since I like to dodge more than block.

Shrine of Amana was never that bad if you're just willing to pull out a goddamned bow for a few minutes (Dragonrider Bow for Str builds is ridiculous)
Even pre-nerf, amen. Even as pure melee, by that stage of the game you don't have a shield that can deal with magic? You can't 3- or at worst 4-shot the Archdrakes while you 2- or at worst 3-shot the chicks? It's no harder than any other "tricky" spot in this or the other two games, it's it was just one of those tricky spots.

edit: shit, almost forgot the reason I was stopping by - Open Question to those who play the message meta-game: let's say I had a message on another build that went pretty crazy, say 165 rating, would you put the same message in the same spot on another build? How does that go? Random? Just wondering. My gut tells me it won't get shit the second time around. Murphy's Law and all.

Any tips on dualwielding?

Don't get hit.

It might sound like I'm fucking around, but if you're gonna go without a shield, you need to base your build around that shortcoming. High END (need stamina for rolling and strong-attacking, can't slack distributing points here), high VIT (no shield demands, in theory, good armor - but hardcore peeps will tell you you don't need armor at all, ymmv), and then just enough STR & DEX for your weapons of choice to power-stance. Dump into VGR & ADP at your leisure. That's your build. Done. It's your world. Go.

I am finally to Dragon Aerie. Awesome area, might be one of my favorite in the series.

Question, is there any way to get Sunlight Medal's outside of co-op or offline? I know it will be a long time before I am close to getting platinum and I worry the online will dry up when I need to get the Sun Bro covenant up.

Belfry Luna. Jeez do I suck at PvP. Always get owned. Lost a few times to the Gargoyle orgy but they will go down as soon as my wife passes out on the couch. I have that laser focus on beating them that only Dark Souls instills. Glad I kept that Dragonslayer axe with the lightning buff all this time.

under 30% equip burden, 110 agility life is the best life.

How many medals do you need anyway? I've found if you're fond of summoning help you can get a fuckton of medals that way too. If you summon a sunbro shade at the beginning of the level, and then summon two sun bros at the boss, hypothetically that's three sunlight medals in like five minutes and you're not even being a sun bro. I guess I'm just saying you can rack those fuckers up just generally speaking in co-op without even really focusing on them.

Welp done with work here and time to patch this on PS3 and get to work on the Idiot Twins (Bern and Luca). Almost got the platinum now.

Preferably without spoilers, are there any zones that inspire awe like anor londo did? I remember just stopping the game and looking around at anor londo in amazement. Will there be moments like that again?

Taskmasters (the big guys that throw dark orbs) like the ones just before the second bonfire in Harvest Valley drop them.

There should be alternate route that you can take to run (carefully) to the boss, up that ladder.
Yeah I thought about that. Didn't seem much quicker and it was really just the timesink killing them all and losing to the boss. Didn't like the encounter too much mainly because of the terrible camera angles. I really shouldn't get so upset about losing souls when I die. Ah well I beat those bastards in the end! Onward and upward.

Yeah man I'm there with you. Seems everywhere I look people are posting about how OP their build is, how they kick constant ass; man if I beat someone in PVP it basically means they suck, because 80% of the time I'm getting four-shot to death in quick succession by some weapon I've never even seen.

Hi guys.
Been playing tons of Dark Souls II, loving it. I'm currently a Blue Sentinel (just started NG+) and had a question. I've been killing tons of people on PvP invading with a cracked blue orb, although, I get nothing out of it. I don't even get their souls, is that supposed to happen? How am I also supposed to know if I am ranking up?

That hiding spell, is the best thing in the game.

You can invade me, but good luck finding me!

Some guy actually timed out looking for me, and he passed by me like 12 times.

Yes. Similar but not the same.

Is there a way to check how many players i've killed in the bell covenant?
Count your chunks

SUCCESS. Luca doesn't die that easily to Smelter after the update. Now I just need to talk to her twice more for the trophy. Bernhardt next.

Best news I've heard all year. Almost had him last night (I'm at SL 120+) and somehow fucked up the one chance I had where she wasn't pretty much dead with him still having half his life.

Hoping the changes make her more likely to survive Sinner next time I try that as well.

Quick thought on Soul Memory and the lack of summon signs/getting summoned - don't forget if it's your second or third run on NG, you're probably under-leveled, as it were: right now pvp is slow for me, but the people who summon me and the people who I summon in totally blow. This is different from when you see summon signs everywhere and the people who spawn in are way more buffed than you, which is more the case on your first playthrough because you're dying a fuckton more. This is like my fifth playthrough of NG and I'm pretty much shooting par, so to speak - I'm exactly where I should be, give or take 150,000 souls or so. Most other players on NG are going to have lost waaaaaaaaaay more souls than that by this point.

Basically if you're light on pvp, don't discount the idea you're actually ahead of the main pack, especially if it's not your first playthrough.

One thing that kind of irks me a bit about some of the levels is that there are often times where you can invade and end up being unable to get to the player due to them putting you into a level in at a place that is inaccessible without a shortcut being tripped. It's a shame too, because at that stage there is nothing you can do except for hoping that the player isn't a dick and actually tries to progress in the level.

Yea you can get more sunlight medals from not being a sun bro. Still fun

Fucking flexilllllllllllllllllllllllllllle on NG+!!!!!

Eat the biggest dick!
Eat all of the fucking dicks!

A thousand fucking dildos straight into your cunt shit eye!!!!!

FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU YOU PIG CUNT FUCK

Ahahaha.

I just had to do it in NG+ for the Lucatiel storyline.

Somehow Lucatiel managed to stay alive all the fight and tanked Flexile while I was spamming all my spells from afar.

It was super easy!

Use a Redeye Ring with Sinner. She'll never go after Luca. It was pretty painless.

The Ruin Sentinels theme is so cool. I hate that boss, but, it's kinda fun in it's own cheap sadistic way. Once that theme gets pumping and you see 3 bars, you know you're going to get your ass rearranged. Then they all spin2win, fucking cheap ass. I'll spin them all the way to the fucking moon.

There are some enemies that drop sunbro medals. I grinded the giant that throw hexes in Harvest Valley to get the last 5 medals I needed to maximize the covenant.

Heard a few people people had trouble with this boss on NG+ I breezed through it in about 30 seconds. But I was using a sunlight spear with 55 faith and a +5 lightning dragon chime

I do a fair amount of co-op and I try to summon SunBro's when available, but despite all this I only seem to have 7 Sun Medal's and I'm nearly done with the game. I guess I'll just have to devote a night to it or something.

Sweet, good to know!

That's low.

Everything I come up against a Havelbro, I just throw acid urns and roll away forever.

Kind of wish there was a pyromancy that allowed you to degrade equipment. But i guess that would just be asking for everyone to roll with it online and then the first part of every encounter would be seeing who can fuck up the other person's equipment first lol.

Ahahaha let me try that next time encounter one of them.

Fake edit: lmao just encountered him again. Almost had him, but he fled and used an estus flask and proceeded to own me.

Chuggers are the real scum here.

There is. Acid mist.

Yeah, you are probably right; I didn't complete Lost Bastille immediately and instead went for Hunter's Copse and found way less people around.

Then came back, did some bellbroing and wtf pwned some foos, which had never happened to me. In DS1 I won like...thrice.

Wow, BP
Licia
is a bitch of a fight in NG+. She has an absolute shiton of HP and WOTG is a one shot kill. Wound up using profound still + GRS after several failed attempts at pyro (toxic/poison mist, flame swath)/melee.

Is it feasible to start Lucatiel's questline in NG++?

i think the biggest scum ive encountered was in iron keep pvp area. two of them actually. whenever they got low, they ran as far as the ladder to the turtle guys. i had to chase those assholes all around. that's not how you duel.

I just used a Great Club and kept crushing her over and over as she started to get up.

I'm currently running through D
rangleic
C
astle
and I just ran into D
arkDiver
G
randahl
.

As a paladin build still rocking the Preist's Chime +6, I really want to upgrade to the
Dragon Chime
. Is there much to gain by earning the chime the old fashioned way, or should I just kill
Grandahl
? I tried the
Dark Chasm of Old
once in the castle and got wrecked by
Havel
. I scurred....

heh ironically one of the best things about being a shade or phantom is dying in really dramatic ways - like with 25% to go on a boss fight that has been really long and tough ... lol i dunno i get a kick out of it.
