Kill everything, grab the stuff not nailed down, get to the end of the stage before the dream goes away.

You don't have to kill everything,
just grab the giant soul at the end of the level to complete the memory.

There's a lot of good items lying around though.

That still doesn't sit well with me. :(
In my opinion the only enemies that need a nerf are the Shrine of Amana casters (just reducing their range would do wonders) and the Mace Drakekeepers with their infinite combos.

Just best this boss as the last of the 4 big souls. Saved her for last as I heard she was so hard. Best her first try. Wtf? Thus far in the game the only boss to really be tough were the three ruin sentinels, and only because there were three at once.

Hi guys.
Been playing tons of Dark Souls II, loving it. I'm currently a Blue Sentinel (just started NG+) and had a question. I've been killing tons of people on PvP invading with a cracked blue orb, although, I get nothing out of it. I don't even get their souls, is that supposed to happen? How am I also supposed to know if I am ranking up?

I am surprised at how many people I see are complaining about the nerf in the Shrine of Amana. That area was a legitimate nightmare for melee users. Not everyone knows about the bow and arrows. The entire game is still difficult for the most part. Shrine of Amana is just one small section in the game.

Yeah I don't mind that nerf at all. That place is fucking terrible. It's more of an annoyance than a legit challenge.

Ugh fuck casters with havel's armour and the moonlight greatsword hahaha:-(

Look at the bright side, Moonlight Sword just got nerfed into the ground.

It's sooooooooo slow now. Like, borderline useless. I got tagged in PvP by one earlier and could easily roll away after one hit. Can't be buffed anymore either.

There were probably so many salty mages I killed today trying to use it to stunlock that didn't get the memo. On the flip side though, the Moonlight Sword is a damn gaming icon. It's sad how bad they made it now when all they needed to do is remove the ability to buff (hell make it like Dark Souls again where only physical weapons can be buffed) and maybe lower its damage a smidge.

Then all faith builds will have the obvious advantage.
You mean everyone fighting someone trying to heal via miracles would have an advantage.

Perfectly doable with only melee, just roll man.

so now that i've got the
giant's kinship
, what do i do? I went to the
throne room
but nothing happened

Melee character here. I enjoyed dealing with the mages in Shrine of Amana. And I found it perfectly manageable with a magic-resistant shield. It took four or five tries to get my approach right, but I felt pretty good when I made it. It's a good thing that some areas force you to shift tactics.

I'm currently running through D
rangleic
C
astle
and I just ran into D
arkDiver
G
randahl
.

As a paladin build still rocking the Preist's Chime +6, I really want to upgrade to the
Dragon Chime
. Is there much to gain by earning the chime the old fashioned way, or should I just kill
Grandahl
? I tried the
Dark Chasm of Old
once in the castle and got wrecked by
Havel
. I scurred....
So I ended up saying fuck it and got to rank 3 on
Darkbros
. None of the phantoms nor the
Darklurker
could handle my great sunlight spear. Is it just me or are miracles straight up OP this time around?

I just ran through it post-patch, and I thought the change was just right. The magic arrows still track enough to keep you on your toes, but not enough to infuriate or feel somewhat cheap.

You know what would be awesome? If you could choose to invade people who put messages down. So when people put their stupid annoying ones down, you can just go and kill them for it.

Miracles are pretty insane, just easy to dodge. Great for PvE!

Got my Luca trophy. Only one fight left with Bernhardt. Seems he's still kinda weak against LG Knight. He actually died which forced me to quit out. Thankfully I killed the boss before he died the second time. It was close. Gonna try and complete his quest this weekend. Hoping GL boss fight won't be too bad.

Had a weird glitch today. I parried an enemy, and went up to them to riposte. Right as I pressed the button, a hollow decided to run right up to me. So for some reason because the hollow got between me and my target, instead performing the riposte animation, it used the punch animation that you do for backstabs. The punch connected with the hollow, who froze in place, then I regained control. I quickly did another riposte to finish the original enemy before it got up, but the hollow remained frozen in place forever (at least until I put him out of his misery).

Yeah I heard about the MLGS and sorcery nerfs in general.. Makes me glad I'm kind of done with the game for now! I mean, all they needed to do was make the weapon not buffable.. And it wasn't like sorcery was broken in PvP or PVE either.. Only Soul Geyser was OP on boss fights..

Whelp, that sounds like a pretty heavy nerf. Especially the attack speed sucks. Can you still infuse it with magic at the smith? Time to switch to the Watcher Greatsword I guess. Or go all hex with a dark katana.

It was bad in Demon's Souls too. ;)

Lloyd's Talisman was great for this in DS1. The extra long animation of them failing to down estus was great. Does it not work the same here? All I noticed was the only seller of them seemed to have a limited supply this time.

Shalquoir sells an unlimited supply at some point (not sure when, probably when you reach Drangleic).

lol

The next time you go to grab a lever, use a bonfire, or talk to an NPC and end up clicking on someone's completely pointless message that's inexplicably been rated 200 times, I hope you feel my rage too.

I feel this is rarely an issue because of the way the game prioritizes the interact button.

So if there is a bonfire and a message close to each other, the bonfire will have priority and you'd have to toggle to read the message. The only time this doesn't happen is if you are far away from the bonfire so you wouldn't be able to activate even if the message wasn't there.

AFAIK this happens in the order you want for everything; bonfires > items > levers > doors > talking to people > illusory walls > messages. (the order may not be exact, but messages are on the lower end)

The only messages that make me rage are the troll ones that are about "hidden path" or "illusory wall" because that leave me pressing X against walls; but then again, messages on actual illusory walls do not prevent you from activating the illusory wall.

I think this is an improvement over Dark 1 and Demon? I remember annoying messages in the door to False King and there you had to toggle.

The Titanite Slab that you get from
Prowling Magus & The Congregation
... Is that one of those drops that automatically gets added to your inventory upon victory? I forget how many slabs I had before that :S.

Cheers, Gaf.

I'm starting to see myself returning to DkS1 at some point for PVP.

Multiplayer here feels just a little bit too mechanical compared to how organic it was in Dark Souls. I miss having vast areas like the forest where I could run around with two buddies and watch chaos unfold. Belfry stages just aren't the same.

I've had fun invasions though and lots of great co-op with strangers. Probably going to double dip for PC version since that's where my friends are going to be playing. Let's see how it feels when I actually have people I know to play with.

Interesting to see I'm not the only one going back to Dks1 PVP, although to me it's more due to the lack of mechanics in DS2, and the overall sluggish feel of movement. Dealing with Soul Memory is also a pain.

they nerfed sorcery? so, it went from useless to completely useless? yay...

Ruin Sentinels/Smelter Demon
theme is amazing indeed.

Overall the OST of DSII is excellent and doesn't get enough credit, the
Old Dragonslayer
,
The Pursuer
(the music mixed with the sounds/growls that he makes is so good),
Old Iron King
,
Velstadt
,
Lost Sinner
&
Vendrick
themes are also great IMO.

Other than the title screen and the Majula theme I can't remember anything about the music.

That's what you get when there's no music for hours and then only for a few minutes during boss fights. And listening to the music is the last thing on my mind at that moment..

The Ruin Sentinels music really highlights the fight (best boss in the game). It becomes a dance of death quite literally.

Alright, I'll check youtube as soon as I get home. It probably went over my head in the frenzy of that battle.

Still, themes like Maiden Astraea's and Tower Knight from Demon's immediately stuck with me even after one fight.

A lot of people are. PS3 DKS1 pvp is pretty lively right now. Once again Forest, Undead Burg and Oolacile township are the places I would recommend.

DKS2 PvP is a MASSIVE disappointment. I don't think its something patches can even fix.

Scaling is a joke. A joke. Sun Sword has A/A scaling. Yes A/A. If this was any other Souls game this would be a godly weapon. Claymore had C/C scaling in DKS1 and at 40/40 was a murdering beast. Well heres the joke:

Sun Sword (40/40): 290 1H ----- 348 2H
Sun Sword (40/13): 256 1H ----- 307 2H

Yes the difference between 13 DEX and 40 DEX gives a boost of 40 AR and this is at A scaling. A scaling! Most weapons are C.

Elementals are overpowered. Higher dmg, and can be buffed with more powerful buffs.

Secondly the poise/stunlock system is also a joke. Dark Souls had poise, and it roughly made sense. Demons Souls had no poise but the stunlocking was something only available to certain weapons and certain attack patterns.

DKS2 you have a hilarious poise system where fists can break poise even when wearing full havels. On top of this you have constant stunlocking with no way of getting out. DKS1 had the toggle escape. In Demons Souls you couldn't escape however the stunlocking there is a fraction of how frequent it is in DKS2.

Now the stuff above can be fixed, with a massive overhaul, however there are fundamental mechanic problems in DKS2.

1) Hitboxes are just plain wrong. This isn't a lag issue as it only occurs with certain weapons and attacks.

2)Movement. So many players have complained how sluggish DKS2 is. Just playing Demons Souls or even Dark Souls gives a massive sense of how slow DKS2 is. I was pretty upset coming from DeS seeing how everything was slowed down including movesets and now they have done it again. I see the latest patch has improved strafing speed but they are going to have to do more than that.

All in all the longevity of this game is dead to me. PvP was the reason why I continued playing these games for 3 years+. Thats why I'm going back to DkS or even DeS with the occasional community event. I see certain pvp youtubers feel the same and are doing the same thing as well.
