Ravio:

Neutral B = fire rod; charge up range fire attack.
Forward B = sand rod; pillars of sand rise up in front of him.
Down B = ice rod; balls of ice fall from just above him.
Up B = tornado rod; a tornado launches him into the air.

Final Smash = Weapon Upgrade; all special attacks are now their Nice versions for a short time and have increased range and attack power.
 
I think a mix between melee and brawl is perfect which is what it looks like we're getting. The fact there cutting down on the randomness is just extra gravy for me

Same here. I think the leak is pretty credible, I'll buy into it. Either way we'll find out this summer... how exciting is that?

Nice fire rod woluld esentally be a long ranged mach tornado...make it happen lol.

Everything we've seen so far indicates that hitstun can't be randomly cancelled this time around, so I think it'll be okay.

I'm skeptical if Smash 4 will ever reach Melee or PM levels of play, and it never will if there aren't wired controllers released, but it should still be a lot of fun.

I would have it work like this: hold B to charge it. It can be stored. When released it sends out a ball of fire at a downward diagonal until it hits a platform and then it turns into a fire tornado. The fire tornado can rack up damage but has no/little knockback. The ball of fire has much more knockback.

And whether Sheik's new Grenade Burst can be picked up by Villager is unclear since it is different compared to other projectiles.

As for the Lava, that isn't For Glory mode. That's either a Local match or Friend match where the players physically chose Pyrodestination, but didn't turn off items.

I remain quite sure that Ridley will be playable.

It seems that you can't airdodge to negate all hitstun anymore which is on the up and up.
What will really make the difference is how good the bubble shield is overall. In Brawl it was got damn fort knox.
 
Something that bothers me, how come when Sakurai chooses a "poor" character that will be met with controversy there will be people that come out of the woodworks and pretend like it was a much wanted choice?

Like with the deal with the rumor of that Chorus Kid thing, it's arguably a bad character choice of the franchise it represents (as people mentioned in here the Monkey would be better and I agree he would be awesome). I seriously think Monkey when I think of the Wii RH.

Another issue is the character in question contradicts things Sakurai has said about characters in the past (need to have some kind of moveset potential) and he hinted at the issue with Mac (who CAN fight) in the most recent direct.

I believe these are valid reasons for people to get pissed at. Yet there will be a significant bunch of people who come out of nowhere proclaiming it was an AMAZING decision and that the people complaining are not reasonable or justified in their anger. I for one did not see RH characters even mentioned, which WFT did get a few mentions pre-reveal. She also was not really fully accepted as quickly as it seems this Chorus Kid thing will be by even a sect of the fanbase. I'm assuming these people in full support of this RH character where just people who wanted refrences to the my music in the game? I just don't understand where the hell they came from.

I've always liked the idea of a RH character, but most characters people suggest don't seem rhythmic/musical in nature. Like "karata joe", that sounds more like a traditional fighter guy than "ohh a RH rep!"

I hadn't considered Chorus Kids personally, cause RH has a TON of characters, but now that they've been mentioned they totally make sense to me as a RH rep. This largely due to the fact that they're fairly recognisable RH guys that actually have a musical focus in their design.


I don't see what's so inconcievable about people supporting a character they hadn't explicitly mentioned or thought of.

Villager and Greninja got shit too and those were both asked for and fairly obvious choices. Mii is a very obvious choice but gets a lot of shit with at least one person saying they won't buy the game if Mii is a character.
 
The way that the first leak called Villager "Animal Crossing Guy" and didn't name Greninja by name, only by what game he was from makes me inclined to believe that its not really "Chorus Men". Its probably going to be Marshal.

1. When did Sakurai say anything about a character needing move set potential?

2. Just because you or I aren't clever enough to come up with a Rhythm Heaven move set doesn't mean it isn't possible.
 
While my number one pick for a Rhythm Heaven rep would have been the Barista, I'd just be ecstatic if Rhythm Heaven got a rep at all. And the "Chorus Kids" isn't too far off from reasonable - though people usually picked one kid and called him Marshall (ala Fever) he was one of the Rhythm Heaven reps I saw people discussing most frequently, probably only second to Karate Joe.

It's much like Animal Crossing - if it were up to me I would have picked Tom Nook as the Animal Crossing rep, but just getting a character from that franchise at all is enough to make me happy.

From comments I've seen this is largely debatable. They seem like makeshift mascots to me. Chose one mini game, posted them on the front of the DS box, did not appear often in the game. The lookalikes seemed forgettable in the Wii version. Design not very engaging, just "cute" which to me is not relevant. I think RH is okay to represent as playable, meh-ish to awful choice for the representative.

Well I've never played a Rhythm Heaven game, and I recognized the Chorus Guys immediately. They're pretty recognizable IMO.

That's the way I see things as well. Marshal would have been an impeccable addition, he feels so much more like a "character" than the Chorus Men and feels more like the face of Rhythm Heaven than anyone else.

It'd be cool if we could get Miss Ribbon and Cam in some capacity as well.

I think more people have played DS than Wii though, so more people (like myself) would recognize the trio over Marshall. Plus, the trio idea makes for interesting gameplay I'm sure.

He implies that with Little Mac, because all he can do is punch but they worked a mechanic into that weakness to make him fresh. And then you have why he disregarded Villager during Brawl. That's where we have the contradiction. With those two you AT LEAST had the fan demand to influence his decision to at least try to come up with a moveset. In this case it was not that, he just would seem to have saw fit to add the Chorus Kid or whatever. It just makes it seem like he comes up with excuses for some decisions for not adding characters rather than having valid points and that is a legit reason for people to get pissed in my eyes.

Though it could be a Dr. Mario scenario where he added them as an excuse to put tons of the good music into the game, which is fine by me actually.

Considering R0ckman is outright saying people who like the idea are "Just pretending" I'd consider anything he says on the matter invalid by definition, he's obviously just throwing hate around for the sake of it rather than accepting how people feel.

Y'know, I really hope we get some sort of representation from Rusty's Real Deal Baseball. Rusty would make a cool Assist Trophy, perhaps alongside the Ultra Machine. Plus, the game has surprisingly good music - there's a lot of potential here!

It might just be confusing since Japan and the US have different designs for the main character, haha.
 
The Direct is making me so fucking hype for Little Mac.

His moves are incredible and he looks fun as fuck.

Yeah, he seems like a beast. A nice counter, some moves that deal serious damage and a 1hko move. Unless that air weakness is that bad, he is easily top tier stuff.

I'm hyped about Mega Man too though. :3 A wide variety of moves along with Rush...

The Chorus Kids and Marshal are generally interchangeable as far as design goes though, and it's safe to say they're from the same "species" or whatever you would like to call it.

Just comparing the two designs it's pretty obvious.

The former are more associated with only one of the games in Rhythm Heaven, and that only involves singing. Marshal on the other hand is not only similar enough in design but he generally guides you through the game and is also the lead in the Wii version of Night Walk. He seems to generally be "more involved" with the game, and I'd have a much easier time believing him being a fighter, since his attacks could reference other RH games - one of which could very well be the Chorus Kids.

Come to think of it, that seems more likely than anything. If Marshal did have an attack like that, maybe the leaker might not have been able to make that distinction. For that matter, their names aren't even "Chorus Men" now that I actually look into them.

I am tired of having to guess how the game is going to play, sakurai. Explain it to us. Also, even if you cant cancel hitstun, the air dodge still works like in brawl. So you can do it once in the air, wait a moment, and you can still move in the air. I dont play competitively, i play with friends. Still, i was really surprised that you could air dodge more that once in brawl... it obviouly changes the game, both off stage and on stage. I liked how it was in melee (i am not even talking about wavedashing): if you do an air dodge you did it, i hope that you guessed well... But if its still there on the latest videos, i would say that its 100% in the game. Maybe its me, but i think that air dodge still working like in brawl is a clear sign of the direction that the game is taking. I am not saying that it means that the game is going to be "like brawl", but probably is still going to be far from what melee player want (even if they are kind of "open" about it).

About not being able to cancel hitsun and having combos. I am confident that thats going to be the case. Still waiting for sakurai to say something about it.

Now that I've been playing (and enjoying) Rusty's Real Deal Baseball as of late, I agree! I'd like to see an Ultra Machine business man/woman assist trophy throwing a bunch of baseballs at your opponent. : - P

The song that plays when you're haggling with Rusty would make for a good stage theme.

That's not what I'm implying, I'm implying that the people who refrain from any sort of criticism of the decisions of the game seem to come out of no where and who treat the decision as mana from the Most High. I never once said they were faking, I am legit asking, where they came from, cause I did not see them pre-reveal. But if you want to say I claim you are faking, maybe thats something you need to sort out with yourself.

You haven't even seen the moveset, it could end up being very weak, because we DO have examples of that in the series. There are more elements to this than the moveset which is where the controversy comes from.

But it seems that there is an issue with Nintendo fans that are not able to handle criticisms. Wasn't there a post a few pages back where the BitBlock guy josh said that he wasn't very well impressed with the Smash Direct? I just recently looked at the video and while I didn't agree fully, he did have some valid points. There was some clear padding in there. Yet if you look at the comments, people had a fit that he would dare speak ill of the Direct at all. Insanity.

His speed is immense, his attacks sound incredibly satisfying when blows are connected, and the one-hit KO looks like a killer when used in a combo.

He looks like such a technical fighter I'm willing to master inside and out. It also helps his side smash has three alternative versions you can use, that's going to be pretty deep and rewarding when used right.

Part of me is really excited about playing as Little Mac - I love Punch-Out!! and he looks like a lot of fun, plus he's fast which is always a very good thing.

Then I remember that I'm practically always jumping everywhere in Smash Bros. and realize I probably won't main Mac anytime soon, haha.
