For faith builds out there, is it worth downgrading the requirements to use sunlight spear? I have considered dropping it down to about 50, but am concerned about how much damage is lost by using it at lower faith. I'm not sure where the soft cap is for faith, so if anyone's experimented with this please fill me in.

YES YES YES YES YES.

It's very awesome to use.

Also, according to: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Stats#.U0n6KLZdVQA
Faith soft cap is at 40. But still goes up quite nicely IMO for another 20 or so stats. Mine is set to 80 and does quite a bit of damage (I'm going for a high level build)

Holy water use it. Or summon help then? At this point it's easier to make a list of things you don't get angry about :P.

Seriously though, holy water wrecks them...and the Darklurker for that matter.

50 is more than enough. Sunlight Spear still does huge amounts of damage at 50 faith with a dragon charm (which is the only reason to get 50 faith anyway...:P).
Yeah I recently got the dragon charm and immediately upgraded it to +4 lightning. And hoooly shit am I destroying everything now lol. The
Looking Glass Knight
was pretty much a pushover.

I guess my issue is that I can't decide whether I should just pump faith to use it, or lower its requirements. I intend to use this guy for some PvP down the line, so I don't intend get to get his SL too high.

Holy shit Demon of Song almost 1 hits me. He does not play around when he does that slide attack. Sadly, he doesn't last a minute against me. Belfry Gargoyles went down in 2 Chaos Storms, I was just screwing around, i didn't think it would actually kill them.

I died like 4x on Vorgel the Sinner.

25mil sm and 9/10 of the people I invade now are havels mages. GG Fromsoft.

SL doesn't matter. SM is everything. And it sucks.

Anyone watching the yukaslegion stream? He just did a wotg triple kill on a gank squad, it was incredible.

No, that sounds awesome, but I did watch Noobest kill the last giant doing an average of 11 damage per hit in a fist only covenant of champions run.

nothing better than seeing your character slowly enter a wasteland of identical builds and players.

I'm running into this issue quite a bit myself. The problem is, I can't decide what I want to do about it. Keep this guy at SL 150 in case From gets recognizes the error of their ways, or level up a bit more so I can have a few more options against the conformity.

I love being invaded. Just pure fun. Even more fun to mess with the invader. One of the last invasions as Dragon Shrine by a blue guy spent some time trying to find me even while being in plane sight. I used the White ring thing and made myself look like a co-op phantom. I was on top of the tower where you get the egg (only way up is stairs). Even though I was on the window still waving to him, he really really didn't want to come over. I just kept taunting him until finally he came over and I killed him.

Those stairs up do actually make a nice choke point

I started to use it way before I was this leveled up. I lowered it to like 50 or so too. It's one of the best miracle offensive spells there is (ignoring WotG). I really recommend it.

Just made it through Huntsman's Copse with ease and took out the Skeleton Lords with little to no effort. As long as you take them on one by one and do not go after another one until all of the spawns are killed, it's easy peasy.

I decided to throw down my soap stone and help other players out with this boss and the first guy that summoned me was the worst. He jumped into the fog gate before I was even finished being summoned and when I walked in he got annihilated.

and people make the same damn mistakes over and over again.

The third guy through the fog gate gets caught by the first fire breathe like 9 out of 10 times. It even catches people waiting by the door. Why do you think I'm standing way back here?! Even when we all get through, people get caught by the very first flying fire half the time. And you always have to be ready to run like hell. Take your time people, don't get greedy.

Unfortunately it's like the only place I can co-op right now (SL 160, 4M in soul memory).

Hmm, I kinda miss the moving sky from Dark Souls 1. Unfortunately the sky is static in Dark Souls 2. Overall, the art direction is tighter in the first one.

Lost Sinner has a lot of coop action. I got summoned within seconds and I'm on NG++.

A tall ass dude walking in circles and dragging a sword is in front of me and not really mad I'm there. Should I kill him or leave him alone?

Edit oh shit nvm

I take no pleasure against using WotG against an invader going up a ladder.
Ok, maybe I take a little pleasure. hehehe

Edit: Ah! They finally learn. Had a guy disable my spells before coming up. At least I am teaching people. Got him in the end, but was a close call.

Sunlight spear is SOOO GOOOD. I pretty much took out the D
emon
of S
ong
before it ever really engaged me lol. Man the
Shrine of Amana
can be really annoying with all the priests/priestesses before that one fog gate. Luckily I was able to snipe many of them with lightning spears. I feel bad for pure melee characters there, it looks like a major pain in the ass. For medium/small shield users, I would recommend infusing the Llewelleyn shield with magic to deal with all the stupid priestesses. It really served me well.

If you
break I think it's 3 or more
then when you
cross the last bridge, a dragon will come and break it. You died.

Erm, what? I don't believe this.
I always roll into the eggs, and at least during my first playthrough I definitely smashed them all out to make sure there wasn't some item hidden underneath, and I never died on the bridge.

I thought you died on the bridge if you neglected to kill one of the dragons?

Edit:
How do I get a token of fidelity?
Engage in jolly cooperation! (And survive til the end.)

I haven't gotten one yet and have been spending the last five hours corporating
Erm, were you using the small white soapstone? That will make you get summoned as a Shade and give you a smooth & silky stone. You need to drop the white soapstone (not the small one), which will make you summoned as a Phantom, and you and the host must survive til the end of the session.

I've normally finished a dozen games by this time in the year.

The first credits of 2014 feels more significant than any of the rest combined.

Anyone got any fashion advice for a hex-mage? I am so fucking sick of this lion mage armor. Makes me look like a hobo.

Lol agreed. I wear the hexer hood and agdayne's black robes to go with the lion mage skirt and bengals. Lion mage set is FUGLY

Edit: I also hate how most of the gear I've crossed needs twinkling to upgrade...

Creighton's set is so delicious. The helm itself is hideous, but slap on that Heide Knight helm you get from a chest in the Cathedral of Blue... Swagleic.

My new run guy is using a Estoc instead of a great club, and dang
Licia
is super hard when you are not crushing her every second of the rest of her short life.

Had to go to McDuff to enchant the always useful Fire Longsword with Poison to be able to kill her; I guess bleeding would have worked too. Then I just stunlocked her into poison, which makes her heal more often, which in the end got me the win.

It's kind of silly this storyline is so short.

Her stupid god damn heal spell every three seconds is so annoying.

SL doesn't matter. SM is everything. And it sucks.

9 million.

Mages everywhere. Sometimes I get someone that looks a like melee, then he/she whacks out dark resonant weapon/sunlight blade and starts spamming lightning spear -___-

I just got trolled really bad. In Iron Keep this dude just kept running from me, so I take out every enemy and when my back is turned he one shots me. I'm mad. lol

I got lag killed so bad, in Iron Keep. It was so bad, he was still attacking me (with no body of mine showing on my side) well after I died.

Shitty connection cheating bastards.

Here's the highlight of that wotg triple kill I mentioned. Watch

Had the most amazing moment in pvp yesterday. I invade someone in the copse, and run around looking for him. I run to the bonfire that has the giant pyre next to it. Stand around there for a second looking. Suddenly the target comes around from behind the pyre and just punts me in the air with one hit of his greatsword, sending me flying off the edge. I SO wish I could've recorded that, it was incredible.

Jesus, don't play for 4 days and I turn into a pvp scrub. Timed a roll wrong on a freaking lightning spear. Yeeesh! Dafuq

self redemption: won back to back 3v1 and 2v1 matches /throwscontroller

Before I came in for work, I fought about 4 matches. That laggy one that made no sense, and 3 others I one. One guy almost got me, keeping his distance and throwing stuff at me (knives, and bombs), but they weren't that effective in the end. Stabbed him a few times with my +5 Dark Chaos Blade, with Dark Buff (Resonant Blade), and took him out.

I'm gonna make the Scythe of Want my secondary for a bit. It's +3 now. Getting Dragon Bone is retardedly hard.

As a heavy STR build,
Ancient Dragon
is no joke. I will kill him tomorrow night. Anyone know where you can buy resins? I am going to need as much extra DMG as I can get.

Beat the game last night, been playing since day 1 but took my time with it and I'd say it holds up pretty well to Demon's and DkS1. Wasn't too impressed by the final two bosses though, took them out on the first attempt and was in absolutely no danger on either of them which made the whole thing somewhat underwhelming. Still, great game and can't wait to play through it again on PC.

Only thing I'm trying to do now is decide between the Mastodon Halberd +10 or Black Knight Halberd+5. I'm a quality build with 40/40 STR/DEX and while the BKH has the higher overall damage when you combine phys and fire the Mastodon is only a little way behind in pure phys so I'm not sure what to do. If I went with the Mastodon I suppose I could re-spec and go for a more STR based build and allocate the ~20 DEX in other places.
