Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Saw some guys on twitch streaming DS2, where they made a fight club in front of the cathedral of blue. Everyone put red summon signs on the floor and the host kept summoning them and chose two people to fight. I thought it was pretty cool, i wonder if people are doing that somewhere on PS3.

I use Estus all the time. If they give me the space to do so, they are to blame, not me. If someone does it against me I either punish them for it or take a sip myself.
sure, but when they heal faster than your damage input, it's kind of bullshit. it happens because you know, GMB, high defenses etc.

protip: GMB and healing is the best way to deal with mages, even that broken spell called GRS (which does something like 1.2k damage and it's really fast) can't punish it, healing to strong.

"eh but you can backstab and punish them" not always, if they're not retarded they won't heal 2m from you and some duel locations are somehow great for running, hiding and healing.

doesn't happen all the time, but still it's stupid. they shouldn't have allowed healing or items at all in duels. "let's keep fighting for 40 minutes 'cause both of us are healing, using regen items etc., yay so fany" - also, finding the space to heal =/= being a good player.

I guess I'll buy 99 lloyd's talisman OH WAIT, you can't. no one sells unlimited talismans.
k From, well done.

that's one retarded thing for duels, the other is still the massive lag i get sometimes and the weird hitboxes of some weapon. the enemy looks stupid by attacking you from 30m away but hey, when he actually hits you guess who's stupid.

meh.

First rule of Dark Souls: there are no rules. Win however u can.
Haha exactly! There are no rules! There are some unwritten community rules like not healing during duels but nothing else.

When I invade in the Undead Crypt the first thing I do is run to hit the bell. I fight the host solo though but you could just wait with all the enemies and be a real dick.

I usually invade in an area where I can have some advantage.

Bad form in duels, decide for yourself on the situation in invasions. I don't use them even in invasions unless they catch me while I'm fighting something else.

Yeah- I was referring to invasions. I have done both. Sorta seemed the invader would wait to see if used estus first. Maybe since he invaded me. If so- class move.

I have never tried invading another world yet.

Finally made it to Dranleic Castle. Some ques:

Was so excited to find the Faram set (armor from cover) but it looks like shit? Is it just the lighting in the castle or is there another set?

I can now see all fast travel locations. There's an area in between Heide and Forest of Fallen Giants that I've never been. What is it?

Also there's a 4th bonfire in Forest of Fallen Giants. Where's that?

Cathedral of Blue
I think. I had been there and missed the bonfire. I had to ask earlier in this thread too.

Either the Cathedral of Blue or...yeah I don't remember there being anything in between those two warp locations.

And you won't unlock the fourth bonfire until later in the game, but it is not missable so don't worry.

DOes the effect of Jester hat and CGS ring stack? It feels like it does but I have no numbers to back it up.

I'm on the opposite hehe, Faram (and Creightons) armor are my favorite of all the armors I got so far. So good looking to me. I only wear the chest piece of the armor though as the other pieces of their set looks bad, has crap stats or too heavy.

I am wearing
Velstadt
armor now, it looks so majestic with the cape and everything.

BUT the stupid Lion pants ruin everything. Is there a decent looking set of light pants, with a useful side effect? Fall control is the best I could find, but I think fall control isn't that necessary all the time.

On the other hand...is the casting speed effect from the lion pants that noticeable?

I already saw it on someone's stream, who's the guy that you mentioned?
it would be funny to do something like that, surely better than duels.

The cat sells unlimited talismans later in the game. Still agree with everything else you said.
oh, that's nice. I thought she could only sell 10 of them.

Why the hell is nobody letting their summon sign before the Executioner Chariot area in NG+ ? This place is brutal.
Very easy with Great Resonant Soul. Take out the first Mage and skeletons, stand in the first safety wall, use binoculars and wait for him to come around the corner and fire. Once he is below half health he will fall in the hole and won't come around anymore. Take out other Mage and skeletons and then one hit knock him in the hole. Very easy win.

yeah it's a great piece of armor, high defenses and not that heavy. I managed to use it and still be under 50%.
chaos or straid sets are pretty good, I use those pants. very high magical defenses and pretty light.

Performance after the new patch is much better. My main qualm with the game was how seemingly slow menus were to load in comparison to DS and DeS. I've recently been spending too much time trying to get the
Shadow set
, noticed the enemies who drop it during the
Flexile Sentry
boss fight seem to have had their health lowered.

When I find myself in that situation I switch to my poison weapon. Can generally get enough hits in to poison them when they heal and then they are in trouble.

If you find yourself getting outrun all the time, maybe you should have lower equip load. I try to stay between 30 and 40 % myself. Making it easier to heal is one of the main advantages of low equip load and high adaptability. It's only fair that you get to use it, if you sacrifice defense and/or other stats for it.

Those fireballs always land in the exact same place, every like 20 seconds. Just stay away from the spots they land on. Plenty of space to fight Giant Lord in without a landing zone.

There is a rised area just next to the giant lord that isn't hit by the fireballs, and you can use magic from there. This is the area where the pursuer was; remember where the nest with the bird that takes you to Lost Bastille? It is the opposite rise to that one, next to where the fallen statue head came from.

Um if you are melee only...I have nothing useful for you.

Phew, managed to kill Freja in NG+ on my first try together with the NPC summon for that area. Was bracing for the worst, since I recall hearing some mentioning how hard that boss is in NG+.

So I was thinking as I finish up DS1...I actually like the ragdoll effects with dead enemies being kicked around etc.. I hope someone will be able to mod this effect back into PC version of DS2.

Started the game as a sorceror. Not the best of ideas for a newbie, since my staff was broken and I lost most of my souls trying to do a jump.

Sigh.

Going to start again as something more fight-y.

Just got through Shrine of Amana completely unscathed pure melee no ranged option - am I missing something here? Was it nerfed? I was expecting poison lakes and knife throwers, but all I got was slow, weak casters?

So in the area D
ragon
M
emories
, is that supposed to be the
Ancient Dragon
from
Ash Lake
in DS1? If you look around the area you can see what look like giant broken trees. If that is a connection thats pretty damn cool.

It was slightly nerfed. The casters had stronger magic that was more homing.

Woah.

FINAL BOSS SPOILERS:

I didn't know that if you do the
Throne Watcher/Defender
fight immediately before N
ashandra
you
get a new cutscene where she comes through the fog door.
That was super cool.

Also,
fighting Nashandra as a Hexer was so fun. I summoned Benhart and Vengarl, they charged her while she was surrounded by her curse magic so I stood back and fired off Great Resonant Souls and then Climax when I was out of spell casts. Nashandra did her explosion attack and knocked my bros down then started stunlocking both of them with her scythe attacks. I wanted to wait for her curse magic to go away, but I just said screw it and cast Numbness and charged her. Scraps of Life, Dark Crypt Blacksword +5, GG.

"Become one with the Dark"? Please, I already am.

The game becomes so different when you're a caster. This was my first full playthrough of any Souls game as a magic user.

Question about Bonfire Ascetics.

I just beat the looking Glass Knight and forgot to summon the ncp (Benhart) with the moonlight sword.

Of I use a Bonfire Ascetic will it make everything in Dranglic castle more difficult or just the area near the looking Glass Knight only?

Just the area near the Looking Glass Knight only, if you use the corresponding bonfire before it.

Shrine of Amana on NG+ is making me want to pull my hair follicles out and then headbutt the fucking wall. Its not even the casters giving me problems, its the 8 melee-ers, skjdhfhejwkamnsnd

Feck! I killed Licia before getting Cale back at his spot, now the exiles trophy won't unlock...will paying the tombstone fee be sufficient to unlocking it(all the usual suspects are present in majula)? If so how do I get her gravestone to show up.....Feck!!!

getting many lockstones + rat tails tactic:

-
rat
covenant
- use ascetic on Ordeal's End bonfire (use multiples just to make sure heh)
- also try to unlock at least the ground area completely
- wait a bit in the area before the bonfire
- ...summoning a trespasser...
- ...summoned gray spirit...
- a few seconds later
- ... was vanquished...
