Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Wait is this all that they predicted in the leak? I'm sure any of us could have guessed pokemon from X/Y. Aside from that nothing else has been confirmed so how can we take it so seriously?
The leaker was the same one who predicted Wii Fit Trainer/Pac-Man/Mii/Little Mac/Male Villager/Mega Man before E3.

And I would take the "Pokemon from X/Y" not as a throwaway claim, but as a nudge for the day after's Smash Direct which revealed Greninja. Still blast it with a grain of salt.

We'll, I've typed in "Sakurai" so many times using the Google Keyboard swipe function, so now it no longer changes it to Samurai. You all should do the same if you have Google Keyboard.

Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Sakurai Salado Sakurai

So, what are some of you guys predictions for Smash at E3? I'm genuinely interested in knowing what SmashGAF thinks.

New trailer that shows off 2-3 more vets and a newcomer with final release date for the 3ds version. Snake and or Pac Man I imagine will be the big surprise at the end. If we get another troll like what they did with wft we'll get Chorus man if you believe the gematsu leak

Definitely a few more character reveals. If Snake is in the game that's where he'll be shown. If they're in the game, Mewtwo or Ridley are also good choices for reveals.

I actually found the exact quote I was thinking of, which I have slightly misrepresented. Not opposed to DLC, but feels his job is to create as full an experience as possible the first time..

As he should and I glad that's the attitude he's adopting in. Just looking at Nintendo's venture of recent years with DLC, I can't help but to get a wee bit excited at the possibilities of Smash DLC. Shoot, I'd be perfectly content with adding in cut veterans.

But I'm speaking from a consumer standpoint, not the developer/director's artistic vision standpoint.

Problem with secondary leaks after the first becomes accepted is that it's a ripe opportunity for misleading information. Everyone believes the first one no questions asked so now a second batch of names comes out and people gobble it up without questioning it. You never know if the leaker or even their source is just playing games.

Type in Samurai, and the change the M to a K, and after awhile it should recognize Sakurai.

I don't think we'll get a ton of information during the press conference, but we might get a trailer for all the single player modes (classic, home run, adventure, etc.), soon with a trailer for 1 or 2 new characters. I think we'll probably get a special direct to cover extra stuff so as to not use to much press conference time.

This is basically what happened with Playstation All-Stars.

This is what i'm thinking will happen at E3 as well. Since announcing a Vet and Newcomer third party side seems like a good fit. Also if Snake isn't in then I think we'll see his "replacement" in terms of moveset at E3.

I guess the E3 Direct/Conference will feature Smash a lot. If characters like Shulk and PacMan are to be announced E3 is the place to do it. Especially, Pacman. Other than that, we'll probably get a ton of new info on AT, stages etc.

He could also have gotten bogus information to try and smoke out a leak

Or as always "game is in development and can change"

I mean if someone had leaked Brawl's roster very early in development Sonic wouldn't have been there but Roy and Mewtwo may have been

Yep and people were eating it all up as true until the files leaked from the beta. Hell even after that a lot of people still held up. Even some of NeoGafs top leakers have ran into the first half being legit and their secondary stuff not matching.

No predictions, but if Nintendo is smart they will not have a Smash section. Instead, Smash trailers of new characters should intermittantly interrupt the presentation. Just spread the love throughout. It will keep the audience hype and guessing. At least 4 trailers, but preferably 8.

Bringing back something from a few pages ago, the only thing I worry with Shulk is Nintendo won't go through the trouble of trying to get his VA from the UK, everyone else will be recorded in Japan and the US. Hope I'm wrong though.

Also when I start up with Smash, I'll probably go into training withLink, get a feel for the controls and then go into Single Player to start unlocking stuff. Link gas always been my starting main.

If Snake and MGS are back in Smash 4 Sakurai is obviously setting up a "kept you waiting huh" joke, like he didwith Snake on the dojo.

Also if Snake/MGS isn't back we're going to assume Konami blocked it for some reason and not Sakurai/Kojima not wanting the character to return

My swipe speaks like me already. It doesn't need to learn anymore ._.

Edit: Krystal and Renamon thread happening?

why is krystal auto-nsfw here?

It's not just krystal. I'm trying to avoid the situation that happened in other few threads that got locked up because of fan arts, etc.

In all seriousness I doubt we'll get any other characters this month unless there's a general Nintendo Direct.

I think we will get one reveal this month for sure. I could be wrong.

My predictions:

April 24 - Ice Climbers (Japanese retail release of NES Remix 1+2)
May - two veterans
June - a few newcomers at E3
July - another Smash Bros. Direct with a couple of character reveals
August - game releases on 3DS

Well, I strongly believe that we are getting bimonthly direct this month.

I think we are going to get Metaknight and Wario during May.

He said that exactly?

Not really. What Sakurai said,

"At the current time we have no plans," Sakurai told me. "I consider my job at this point, and my main responsibility, to make the Wii U and 3DS versions the best and the fullest experience possible. That said, once finished, it's the type of thing we could take into consideration, but for now, you could consider DLC as not being in the cards."

Sakurai on DLC…
Oh, it is not as if I did not like the DLC, it is just that I do not really have the time to think. I’m too busy to work on the game and to include a maximum of content. The goal is to propose a complete and interesting gaming experience for players.
In principle, I am not opposed to the DLC. I loved those proposed for the game Fallout 3, for example.

but but HYPE

I need to ask why is Hyrule from Melee so loved? My friends request to play on that stage so much and I always loathe it. It's just such an odd stage in my opinion.

In 4 player matches it's fun to have un interrupted battles on various parts of the stage. The lower area is really fun for teching when hit hard as well. It's my favorite stage actually when I'm not playing competitively.

It's just makes for some really fun high percentage battles. It's even more fun with items(especially only pokeballs on high) Everyone fights on the bottom but then scrambles to the top to try and be the first to get the pokeballs.

Wasn't the only thing the leaker got wrong then the DLC characters?

The thing I hated about the PSABR character reveals was the Paul Gale carrot-sticking passing off as "hype".

Paul Gale was the best part about it though. So many people left confused and wondering who this "nobody" was and how he got all this information.

With Namco developing, I guess DLC characters could be time locked like Tekken.

You know, that's a good point. Especially if they want to hype the Wii U launch too, revealing some characters that would only become available in the 3DS version after the Wii U version's launch. It wouldn't even need to be actual timed exclusivity, just simultaneous unlock to allow them to bring some new hype for the Wii U's version launch.

Ridley most likely then?

Couldn't people just hack the game and unlock them..?

Isn't it only save files that can be hacked on 3ds right now, not the games themselves? Or has that advanced more? Anyway, (free) download unlock keys could stop that from being a problem.

Ok thanks everyone for catching me up on that leak info. Is it unlikely to get anymore info this month? Its hard to go from getting almost nothing to getting 40 minutes of info then back to getting almost nothing T.T

I feel like its a bad way to build hype. Why not just a steady stream to keep people's eye on the game. I feel this way people are just going to forget about it cause of the jarring difference in huge info to no info.

Right now it's incredibly hard to hack 3DS or something like that from what I heard. I think only one person that could hacked 3DS to found 5 hidden pokemons but i know some people here don't want me to spoiled it so I wouldn't say any further.

This sounds very...un-Nintendo

Well, I think they are going to keep the hype ongoing but we have to be very patience with the news since I have a feeling that next two or three weeks would be contained most of informations that we learned from the Direct.

Fire Emblem Awakening had time unlocked free DLC, including the past game characters, legendary weapons and extra story maps. There was also paid DLC, which was real DLC. They just call the free time unlocked DLC "spotpass" rather than "DLC".

I have thought about something like this. I do wonder how they intend to keep people hyped up for the Wii U version with the 3DS version coming out months beforehand if they have the same exact roster. This might be a smart way to make sure they at least have something new to announce other than stages and modes. Characters drive fighting game hype the most after all, especially in Smash.

They did so using a hex editor, which is difficult to work around, and something I imagine a 3DS dev kit might have.

Good luck hiding it if it's already in the game, someone will find the files.

Pokemon has been keeping download pokemon on the carts since forever.

Woudn't be new, difference is though most of that was free aside from the drive to the toys r us or whetever before the wii fi stuff started happening
