Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

GameXplain guys think ROB and at least one Star Fox character is def gone

I dont mind Wolf being cut but he should stay cuz the game needs villains
ROB is a slice of Nintendo history. I'd be surprised if he was even considered.
As for wolf, I read that link that stated wolf was thought of as a character idea since smash 64.

If we're assuming Snake, Ivysaur and Squirtle are gone (which is a safe assumption I'd think), I imagine the other character cut (assuming they cut 4) was Lucas. He's not really relevant at all, has no seniority, was a clone (and a fairly boring one) and from a series that is barely acknowledged to exist by Nintendo.

Lucas was not a clone. His only moves shared with Ness were his specials (all with different properties) His Side Smash Attack, and Final Smash. Everything else was different.

I'd be lying if I said Revengeance's soundtrack wasn't the biggest reason why I want a Metal Gear stage or rep in the game.

To be fair, they did have some music from MGS:4 in Brawl, despite the fact that the game did not appear on a Nintendo system.

There is always a slight possibility that if Snake is included, they would put so Revengence music in there as well.

I just want to hear the Sam or Armstrong Battle theme in the game.

I'm hoping when we do see Wolf and Ganondorf again, they will be further apart from the original templates than ever before. I'd bet that would be the case. Which means we won't get three Landmasters, ever again.

indeed, you won't get 3 Landmasters
customization includes every character having access to a Landmaster for their Final Smash

Lol. That would be interesting if we could give them our own Final Smashes, but that may be a bit too much. The nature of the customization seems to mostly alter how the preset moves behave, and not give them entirely new ones.

Gonna talk about Diddy Kong and then talk more about Pit. No future (WebMs) here.

Changed Up Smash

In Brawl, it was Slap -> Kick -> Kick.

In Smash 4, it is Slap -> Kick -> Punch.

It seems to have a lot more reach with that final punch.

I've gotta say; though I don't recall exactly what his original Up smash was like, this double cartwheel punch he's doing in his new one is deliciously in character for Diddy Kong.

Yep. I slept in most of this weekend (fuck yeah Spring Break) and just couldn't be assed to stream in real time.

It's funny, there weren't really any top players for the bigger games except Dr. PP for Melee :P

also speaking of Melee tournaments, MLG Anaheim entrant numbers are spiking for Melee right now

#SummerOfSmash hype is real. MLG & EVO + Smash 4 3DS is going to make this an incredible year.

Is there a convenient and tidy list of all the confirmed post-Direct items, Pokémon, and Assist Trophies out there anywhere? The data on the Smash Bros. Miiverse site seems incomplete.

He's most likely dashing along the platform as it flies above Skyloft and tilts to give an aerial view of the island.

And speaking of Pit, and by extension Kid Icarus, I am SO PUMPED and SO READY to see Palutena in action. The constant leaks and contextual clues, along with her credentials, make it painful that she hasn't been revealed yet.

  • The Pseudo-Palutena trophy fake-out in the Direct was clearly meant to lure us into thinking, "Oh, she'll just be a trophy," only to surprise us with her demented doppelganger
  • She's the namesake of perhaps the largest stage between the two versions, Palutena's Temple, and the stage even sports a statue bearing her image
  • Pit had his Final Smash changed from Palutena and the Centurions to the Three Sacred Treasures, freeing up Palutena to be a playable character
  • The screenshots leaked of her character in the 3DS version have still not been debunked, and remain just as convincing now as they were before
  • She's listed on the second Gematsu list, from the same leaker who leaked Villager, Wii Fit Trainer and Mega Man right before E3 (as well as confirming Little Mac, and a Pokémon from XY that turned out to be Greninja; also on the list: Mii, Pac-Man, Shulk, Chrom, and Chorus Men)
  • She is super-qualified, being the namesake of the series in Japan (effectively the "Zelda" to Pit's "Link"), and she played a huge role all throughout Uprising, had an entire move-set to herself (and could wield other powers, like summoning Centurions and conjuring up grind-rails), and she was a huge part of Uprising's marketing presence, appearing in the game's interior case art, in its anime shorts that promoted its release, and even in a massive parade float they rolled out in Japan

I love you.

I love both of you

Why on earth would anyone think ROB would be cut...

Few people actually have given a rational as to why ROB is likely to be cut. The underlying reason is that they find ROB to be a boring character or he isn't a popular character. That's pretty much the only rationale. Ice Climbers went through the same sort of scrutiny pre-Brawl.

Edit: apparently discussion has shited to something else entirely...<_<

I know that Ganondorf will probably retain his Twilight Princess look but I would love to see his Ocarina of Time 3D look for this iteration, cape and all:

Also I hope Tetra is in it to go along with Toon Link. Its going to be odd to see him by himself.

I would have rather had it be Link, Zelda, Sheik, and Ganondorf only haha but now here's hoping Toon Link gets a companion!

I don't care what Ganondorf they pick, I just want him to be a unique fighter. Or at the very least a clone of someone who makes more sense.

I think his Standard B should absolutely be his charging projectile that he does in most of the games. The energy orb that Link always plays tennis with?

Like Ganondorf shoots the energy orb and it has its own hitbox. It homes in on nearest character, and if they hit it, it homes back on Ganondorf.

Then just like in the games, the more back and forth, the stronger it gets haha maybe cut it off after three back-and-forths so it doesn't become cumbersome.

Squirtle and Ivysaur are probable casualties of the removal of transformations, as they aren't independently all that interesting or popular. Jigglypuff has long term veteran status and consumes basically no art effort.

I won't say Ike's a total shoe-in, but his gameplay fills a more distinct niche than the two pokemon do, and they're not going to just shuffle his moveset to a different blue-haired lord because it'd be a tremendous waste of precious art assets. And in any case, he's fairly popular as an easy to grasp, accessible character.

Snake is probably still in because him being cut would require Sakurai explicitly deciding to remove him from the roster or Konami saying no, neither of which strike me as at all likely. He was a big feather in Brawl's cap and they clearly had a lot of fun getting to play with him and Metal Gear in general.

I refuse to believe that anyone's seriously considering Ice Climbers, G&W, ROB, or Captain Falcon as expendable, because that's just plain silly and missing the spirit of the franchise entirely.

Ganondorf is still in good grief people come on it's Ganon. The only question is if they change up his status as Captain Ganon this time around.

Falco isn't going anywhere and I wouldn't bet on him changing much either. Wolf makes it back if only because the series is still pretty thin on villain representation. Might get a new final smash.

Ness and Lucas both make the cut because Mother is tied to HAL.

I honestly feel like Falcondorf is here to stay. Sakurai had basically all the time in the world to re-work him for Brawl, but he kept the Falcon moveset and even teased the fans about it. He'll probably be reworked somewhat just like everyone else, but I don't think we'll ever see Ganondorf wielding a sword in Smash (not counting items).

Shiek has Snake's grenade and Olimar's new Up B is basically Snake's

Well, looks like I found my new favorite video on youtube :D

Funny thing. I feel like the Smash Direct was what I need to "quell" my near unbearable hype for Smash info. With at least Smash 3DS coming out in the summer sometime plus lots of info on characters, stages, modes, etc..I'm good lol. Still curious as to what the PotDs are going to be this point on and what veterans will be shown.
