Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Chrom's gimmick to differentiate himself will be the ability to woo any of the female fighters, which will then unlock Lucina, who's appearance and moveset will change based on the mother.

Let's have a go at this.

Peach = floating or bride
Zelda = Sage/assassin
Samus = uhh....sword beams?
Rosalina = pair up
WFT = ...uhh I got nothing lol

Anyways, my mains in Brawl are already confirmed, so I'm more interested to see what the roster might be and secretly hoping for a 48-50 character roster (We're at 29 right now, it could happen!).

But I still am far more interested at this point in stages. We've had a lot of items revealed, a lot of characters, but actually very few stages. There are far more items than there were Brawl that are already confirmed, looks like there will definitely be more characters, but stages we know dreadfully little on.

Brawl had over 40 stages, and right now we know 15 stages for the 3DS version, and 14 for the WiiU version (and these two numbers include Battlefield and Final Destination). Outside of music, it's the thing they've been the most hush-hush on.

I really hope we get a few Melee stages. I want HD versions of Green Greens, Fourside, and Great Bay.

I also hope they limit the amount of stages with bosses to less than ~5.

There could be a few mistakes here, so take look at it with some skepticism. You should hard refresh if they don't start jumping at the same time for you (Ctrl+F5).

Also, their jump heights could be different, so it is a comparison assuming they have the same jump height.

------------------------------------------- Brawl ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Smash 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Project M ----------------------------------

Total frames (brackets mean without what I think is the landing animation):
Brawl = 53 (50)
Project M = 39 (37)
Smash 4 = 45 (43)

All 0.03 seconds per frame (30ms/frame)

I feel like a frame went missing in the Project M GIF (second jump seems to come in frame 14 instead of 15 like the other two, maybe that is how it is supposed to be). And the landing frames are a bit confusing since it isn't clear when it stops or when it stops.
I just want my super smash waifus already. Cut all the human males and just leave the women and furries. Wiiu saved.
You know the times where you shouldn't say an idea and keep it to yourself? This is one of those times.

He's hiding them because most of them are going to be the unlockables again, just like Brawl. The only reason he showed Luigi early was because of Year of Luigi.
Seriously, I don't know why anyone thinks this. If there are unlockable characters, they aren't going to be shown before (3DS) release. Luigi is a starter.

Marth has always been unlockable and they've shown him. Do you really think he's not a starter even though they've shown him?

Toon Link should've no matter what been unlockable, yet they've shown him. Are you saying he's unlockable aswell? Come on now.

Maybe the third parties would be unlockable, but I doubt it. Theres no reason to have them as unlockables. Everything shown before release is a starter. They aren't going to reveal any unlockable characters before the game releases.

This is good. Maybe there will be more then three unlockable newcomers this time if most veterans are starters.

You can make diverse and interesting movesets with swords.

Although we're talking about the same dev who had trouble coming up with a unique moveset for a guy who punches...

Sakurai: hmm, let's make Chrom a heavier, slower version of Marth....yeah that sounds good

I don't have a source for this, but I am pretty sure I recall them saying you could turn certain stage hazards off in game settings when making a match. This was a long time ago, and at the time they didn't fully explain what they meant by stage hazards, but I'd assume the bosses are part.

I think we'll get quite a few returning stages though. I think part of what they've been doing to save time on this new Smash Bros is taking and updating things from Brawl. Probably to up the stage count, I suspect we'll have several returning. In Brawl, not including Battle Field and Final Destination, we had 10 returning stages. I suspect in these games we'll have at least 15. Though so far only one returning stage confirmed for WiiU and 3DS each (Halberd for WiiU, Jungle Japes for 3DS), but I think returning stages helps increase stage count with less work-load, and still appreciated by fans and gamers.

They seem to have a higher count for items and characters this time around, so I suspect stages to be in a similar boat, and I suspect part of this, like items and characters, will be from re-used but updated resources from Brawl (and Melee too).

This is something that I put together.

PastStages_zps5e980c6f.png

These are stages that I'd like to see in SSB Wii U and 3DS (not counting the confirmed Halberd and Jungle Japes). The Wii U get's 12 past stages, and the 3DS gets 9 past stages.

They are my personal choices, which ones would you like to see return?

The stages that I had picked for the 3DS were ones that seemed probable. (Great Bay = Majora's Mask 3D, Sector Z = Star Fox 64 3D, Saffron City = Lumiose City (Gen1 and Gen 6) etc etc.

The Wii U ones where more like Fan Favorites compared to the 3DS ones.

Wft would be martial artist with creepy mannequin skin. Also hoping for jigglypuffs return for a pink taguel Lucina with rollout

Er... why do you doubt this? Sonic and Snake were highly publicized before release and they were still unlockable characters in Brawl. Hell, they were even on the box.

The reason to have unlockables is to give you a reason to explore the game modes and to give anyone playing solo something to work toward. The reason to show them off before release is so people know the new stuff actually going into the game.

There's plenty of reason why they would be both unlockable and revealed prior to release.

He said the opposite, actually.

Wrong.

Pirate Bay should be on both.

Hey guys, I asked this before but didn't get a response, so I'll try one more time... is there a convenient list of all the post-Direct confirmed items, Pokémon, and Assist Trophies in Smash 4? The Smash Bros. Miiverse fansite doesn't seem to have everything, and a fair bit of it's incorrect to boot...

Heath made a list but I can't seem to find it.

didn't someone make a list of everything that has been shown so far?

LOL
more like Tharja confirmed amirite
Oh man, I'd love playable Tharja -- a ranged spell-caster blasting fools with dark magic. Although her outfit might be a bit too risqué with the WiiU version's level of graphical fidelity.

Honestly, Awakening has so many fantastic characters it should just receive its own Smash Bros. spinoff where all of its characters are playable. :-)
