Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

For Palutena, I anticipate her moves will include reflecting shit with her shield, blasting magic from her staff, conjuring up Centurions similar to Dedede with his Gordos, and jetting forward on grind-rails (remember, she made them for Pit in Uprising), and/or gliding around for a limited time as her Up B recovery. She'll hover a few inches off the ground at all times, sliding around like Mewtwo in Melee. Her Final Smash will be the Palutena Glam Blaster, or if Sakurai wants to be really funny, the Monster Pheromones, summoning a severed Hewdraw head to attack everyone. And with any luck, she'll have a dedicated button for saying various Uprising quotes.

So much great taunt potential for the Uprising cast!

While Pac-Man will assuredly be in the game, a small part of me wonders if they might double up on Bamco reps and include Nightmare from Soulcalibur. The red/blue motif in Final Destination is easily dismissed as referencing the color schemes for the 3DS and WiiU versions, but it's more than that... It's also pure and crystalline on the blue side, and fleshy and organic on the red side -- the exact same visuals as the titular swords from Soulcalibur and Soul Edge. And no one character better encapsulates that dualism than the recurring villain, Nightmare. Now how appropriate would that be: Link guest-starred in SC2, and then all these years later, Nintendo returns the favor by inviting Nightmare to represent one of Bamco's more popular franchises in SSB4? Plus, a demonic knight with a massive broadsword would be an interesting character, even if I'm not a fan of him, so to speak.

Sakurai outright said that he didn't want to include any characters that originated from fighting games, so I don't think Nightmare will happen.

Ah, didn't know that. Well if that's the case, I guess Nightmare's a no-no. (Assuming Sakurai doesn't double back on his comments like he did with "No Villager")

If someone got Snake's moveset, Palutena would be far from the best choice. Better to give it to Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog.

I would love to see his moveset on the most random of characters. You know if he has to get cut and all. Though I think he'll be back.

Her KI moveset translates perfectly. Why corrupt it with the worst character to ever enter Smash?

No is all I have to say to that.

doubtful, especially because that would indeed be doubling up on 3rd parties from a single company
Sure, but Sakurai is not beyond changing his own parameters, so it's possible. If ever it were appropriate to feature more than one third-party rep, Bamco is it, since they're doing the heavy-lifting for the game (and even appear to have their own ATs).

I'm only realistically expecting Pac-Man, though (and I'd be totally cool with that -- Pac-Man and Palutena are my most-wanted characters).

Someone more creative than me should come up with a moveset for Pac Man.

How about if they introduce some more status effects? Maybe Blind or something where as long as that status is on you, it makes the hitbox on your attacks randomly disappear.

Everyone thinks everyone will be cut

When the 3DS version comes out, people will start thinking characters will be cut from the Wii U version

Good one.

Hey guys, I asked this before but didn't get a response, so I'll try one more time... is there a convenient list of all the post-Direct confirmed items, Pokémon, and Assist Trophies in Smash 4? The Smash Bros. Miiverse fansite doesn't seem to have everything, and a fair bit of it's incorrect to boot...

List of Items
List of Assist Trophies
List of confirmed franchises
List of Pokeballs Pokemon

The best part is that we may get two Asks. One for each game when they come out. And given that the game will have been put for a bit they may be able to talk more about the second time.

Its going to super interesting since if i recall correctly Iwata was a programmer on the original smash. They probably gonna drop mad history.

Totally agree, I'd love to see this.

Too bad it won't happen.

Someone more creative than me should come up with a moveset for Pac Man.
I've shared my ideas for Pac-Man many times before. Here are some of the general concepts:

His non-special moves would put his ball-like form to good use -- launching himself forward like a human cannonball, dribbling on top of enemies like a basketball, etc. He could also chomp and chew his opponents.

His special moves could include spitting out power pellets like watermelon seeds... Belching up ghosts, which zigzag forward and hit enemies... And of course, tucking in his arms and legs and wakka-wakka-ing through the air, a recovery move that doubles as an attack, and one you can steer mid-air. Say you're chomping horizontally through the air, and your foe dodges you and jumps above you -- you can turn 90 degrees mid-air to follow him vertically. Think Yoshi's Egg Roll if it were aerial and could go up and down in addition to left and right.

His Final Smash would involve powering up and chasing enemies around the screen like when Pac-Man powers up in the arcade games. And his stage would be a neon maze like those seen in Championship Edition.

Oh man, I'd love playable Tharja -- a ranged spell-caster blasting fools with dark magic. Although her outfit might be a bit too risqué with the WiiU version's level of graphical fidelity.

Honestly, Awakening has so many fantastic characters it should just receive its own Smash Bros. spinoff where all of its characters are playable. :-)

Solution: Use Henry instead.

No idea but I'm pretty sure that master ball would be semi-rare item during all items battles.
I'll be really disappointed if you can't set items to only Master Balls on very high. Legendary Pokemon was like the best Event Match in Melee and Master Balls are basically just the Poke Balls from that Event.

screw that, Akuma for Smash /shun
Clearly the second Capcom rep should be Ryu and he can have Ken, Akuma, Dan, Evil Ryu, Sakura, and like five other Shota-clones as alternate costumes.

Solution: Use Henry instead.
I sincerely hope they don't decide to use the worst character in all of Awakening!

With all the moveset changes we're seeing, I bet Wario ends up with the largest overhaul. I'd be shocked if his
godawful
motorcycle move came back.

I'm hoping the Shulk rumor is true. It would be awesome to get a Xenoblade stage as well.

Other than that, I'd really like to see Lord Girahim make an appearance. He was a cool character and I can never get enough sword players in Smash.
