Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

imo, Final Destination does have a soul caliber feel to it. It's not only the colors. The organic and infectious nature of the red side reminds me of Soul Edge blade and the blue crystal-like design is basically like Soul Calibur blade, imo.

If you're into action games, especially Platinum action games, then yes, it's fantastic. Plus you can get it for I think like $8 on the 360. So I would definitely recommend it. Plus, it would get you ready for Bayo 2 on Wii U if it interests you

Agreed.

I'm not really into action games (and by that I mean I'm horrible at them) but I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing action, the diversity of the weapon choices, and responsive controls. It's definitely one of my favorite games from last generation. The story and some scenes may be quirky (you can tell they put a lot of time into the lore though) but overall it was a great action game starring a very charming and unique character.

People loves yanderes. Even if they are fucking one note.

There's just something about a woman pining after you with stalker-ish tendencies that seem to rile people up. Especially when they're obsessive and extremely possessive. That feeling when they want to kill your loved ones for taking time away from you is just sublime.
Yandere fans are strange.

Er... why do you doubt this? Sonic and Snake were highly publicized before release and they were still unlockable characters in Brawl. Hell, they were even on the box.

The reason to have unlockables is to give you a reason to explore the game modes and to give anyone playing solo something to work toward. The reason to show them off before release is so people know the new stuff actually going into the game.

There's plenty of reason why they would be both unlockable and revealed prior to release.
Eh, I dunno. With Brawl, it seemed like the only reason third parties was unlockable were just because it was the first Smash with third parties. I don't really think they will be unlockable again.

I know ts cool to have unlockable characters, and they can, but theres no reason to reveal a unlockable character before the release. Any character they reveal before 3DS release will be a starter. Makes no sense why they would reveal a unlockable.

Tharja is just so one dimensional
Nothing to her
It's like, the only thing we learn about her in all support conversations is that she is a stalker of Robin to an extreme extent, most other characters have their own quirks or nuances to them that get revealed.
We just learn she gets more and more extreme in her boring one dimensional personality each time

SoulCalibur invented complementary colours confirmed.

You can't tell me Final destination doesn't look remarkably similar to this

So I've been mulling over a few minor details that probably mean nothing at all as per Smash hype discussion of looking for hints that probably don't exist, in particular the lack of certain series having any stages revealed so far even with the deluge of new info over the past week.
Seeing as it was only in the direct that the whole stage boss idea was fully revealed with the Yellow Devil explanation and then Ridley teased at the end mentioning other stages using the same idea I wonder if some of the series with yet to be revealed stages had been held back from view under the idea that they're hiding a boss character.

Of the franchises that make up the original eight of SSB we've yet to see any new stages from DK, Kirby or Starfox across either version which in turn makes me wonder if that's partly because one of them is packing a boss character as its main feature and they didn't want to reveal said stages quite yet, at least not until Yellow Devil got explained.
I think this makes more a bit more sense with DK and Starfox in particular, Starfox has numerous bosses it could pull from to use as a more unorthodox boss hazard though I'm not sure which ones could work well in this position.
As for DK, well with the whole Kremlings possibly hinting towards K.Rool angle being mentioned again I think it's worth considering him for a stage boss role, hell they could even use Tiki Tong I guess.

I'm also wondering if stage bosses are going to be more of a Wii U exclusive thing, not that I really have any strong reasoning as to why that'd be the case, maybe I'm just thinking that cramming a boss into a four player punch up on the smaller screen of the 3DS may muddle things up a bit much.

Alternative short version of this post: Anyone got any stage boss ideas in mind? what series do you think could utilise this new stage gimmick the most?

It looks like every movie poster ever, actually.
He's not talking about the blue and orange, he's talking about the "half crystal, half flesh" motif that is the signature look of Soulcalibur/Soul Edge.

Unless you're saying every movie poster is half-crystal and half-flesh...

I do wish palette swaps were all obvious references. Brawl felt like it just had colour schemes to pad out the numbers. Or maybe Sakurai can take the time to explain the reasoning behind them like he did for the first game.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that Pac-Man in the clouds thing was ridiculous. Has no bearing on whether or not he's in the game, he very well may be, but why would they hide an image of him in the clouds in another character's reveal trailer? Makes no sense.

Kid Icarus Uprising has an embarrassment of riches where boss characters are concerned. For Palutena's Temple, imagine the Chaos Kin appearing at random, skittering around the stage and possessing any player it can snatch, while the other players try to get the final hit on the Kin and self-destruct it.

I'd personally love to see Hewdraw in that stage. It could fly above the stage raining down fire and lightning and ice, and dealing enough damage to it will cause one of its heads to fall to the ground, bouncing through the dungeons and caverns and such until someone finally takes it down.

I think it's more of a Law / Chaos motif. Especially since Law commonly depicted as blue and Chaos as red.

Stop interrupting the HYPE TRAIN /s

I'm still glowing from the Greninja reveal. Such a good choice. Such flawless implementation. SO MUCH HYPE.

Oh, and I need the music they played during Greninja's reveal. As well as the various new Punch-Out arrangements.

Yeah, it definitely bears a resemblance to the swords from Soul Calibur, but the themes of Red vs. Blue, Organic vs. Machinery, Chaos vs. Order, et cetera have been around a lot longer than the Soul Edge. However, a lot of the same artists potentially worked on this game, so I'm sure they brought some of the same artistic sensibilities with them. While it's not likely that this is a Super Secret Hint™ about a Soul Calibur character, it is pretty likely that it's an artistic reference to the same art style appearing in Soul Calibur.

im still waiting for a reveal of that caliber for myself.

Namco's going to get 4 reps and Samus will be stuck at bottom tier with only lousy paint jobs rather than actual armor skins.

Just you watch.

I don't see the flesh. It just looks like standard good vs evil imagery, or as someone said earlier, law vs chaos. Linking it to SoulCalibur sound like wishful thinking to me.

Chaos kin also flees like an erratic bug when under attack, with the size of Palutena's temple it would have ample room to flee in preparation for a return attack later on using one of its portal dodads.
Hewdraw is interesting since as you said the heads separate allowing 3 opportunities to get off a finishing blow. As it stands I expect Palutena's Temple to just remain as the games big stage with no real gimmicks to it other than mass, but you never know.

I'm thinking Fire Emblem could be good for a boss, I say this purely so I can once again throw down against the Black Knight with my man Ike but I don't consider that too likely either, plus I kind of need Ike to be reconfirmed first.
