PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | April 2014

It's all about balance. After a wave of LTTP threads and announcements where all was love and happiness the world needed some Vita bashing.

A little off-topic but yesterday I went to the cinema to watch Need for Speed. Seriously, what was that shit? Really, really bad film. I don't feel like they stole me because I paid 3€ for 2 films. Otherwise I'd be really angry.

And it wasn't that hard to make it good. You only need cars (don't have to be luxury cars), some pursuits, hot women, a simple story and a hot main character (to please women that go to see the film too xD).

Something like Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) would have worked a lot better.

Every time Vita is bashed i fell in love with the console again. As Karen Orzolek said "they dont love you like i love you" xP

Edit: OMG OMG. Recommendation thread(for 50ppp)

Please buy:

Guacamelee, SteamWorld Dig, Spelunky, Hotline Miami, Tales From Space mutant blobs attack.TxK, Olli Olli, Flower, Muramasa Rebirth, Final Fantasy XHD, and many more!

Please try at least:

Shinobido(YES i think is a good game althou repetitive)
Malicious Rebirth(despite some tech issues)
Jak n Daxter (only if you didnt play it on Ps2)
Yu nama the Puzzle(Best PSM game)
OutOfMind(PSM platform game)
and many many more!

anyone got thoughts?

32GB memory card - KEEP or SELL?

and.. no one using these cases?

http://www.sfbags.com/products/ps-vita-cases/images/psvita-case-kiwi-lg.jpg[/IM][/QUOTE]

Sell, you'll never switch cards because it is such a hassle. Still have my 32GB card just flying around here.

What with all of these "digital only=NO buy" I've seen recently? I mean there isn't any problem by going digital beside the still expensive memory card. But hey, I only have 16gb with 3 games of 4gb in total size become permanent residents, I think juggling is far better than waiting for my japanese skills to catch up.

It's their opinion, but I found this quite strange coming from handheld owneds whose handheld oftenly dubbed to have the biggest digital game share among all other platform after the PC

i dont often say " I will not buy if its digital" but i do want SSD as a retail title as well as freedom wars and Oreshika , these three are big titles for Vita so they HAVE to release them as retails as well. And im talking about big in size and big in terms of "not indie".

hmmm. I think the Digital Only=NO Buy group may just be a small number... haha

I love to have an expansive Digital Library on Vita... and I can't wait for a 128GB card

I put way more value into owning a physical copy of a game, personally, but price is the real dealbreaker for digital games. $40 full price digital releases is a no-go for me, especially if it was available physically in another region. Collector's value, resale value, actually 'owning' the game, confidence that I can play a cartridge 20 years from now but who knows what will end up of a digital distribution service, etc. Too much value lost to pay full price. For me.

That said, I'd only want to buy SSD as a DLC upgrade. Not a fan of yearly full price upgraded rereleases.
And I use a 4GB memory stick. :X

This x2000
Yeah i need to add more games into my "little" collection of 30 retail games.

Also who is SmokeyDave?

Well, we don't know about the price. Could be a 30 bucks release!
And get a bigger card, lad. A 16gb at least. Hold out on one game and get it.

And SmokeyDave is our champion and hero.

PS4 FW 1.7 update is comming??

did he delete this tweet..? can´t seem to find it..

I have no idea why I even want to play Conception 2 as much as I do. Looks like good honest stupid fun lol. Hope there's an EU announcement for a date soon.

Probably something related to the fact that they were taking it down for most of the day on one of the few UK bank holidays of the year, as seems to always happen, and people were getting (quite rightly) pissed off.

The US version you couldn't. Region locking and all.

Never heard of this website! Thanks! I remember that around launch none of the online stores that deliver to Brazil had the US version..

--
I should clarify I'm from Brazil. My Wii could only play US copies and it was impossible to find a retail copy of Xenoblade here. If it weren't for lots of money and a friend going to the US I would never have played such an awesome game.

Sorry for the late answer, but I know how you felt. After all, I'm Brazilian too. eStarland is probably one of the best places to import games from the US, though the shipping is quite expensive. When the dolar price was around R$1,80, eStarland was THE PLACE to buy games. Nowadays, it still is a good site but it's kind of expensive.

I only managed to buy Xenoblade and Shin Megami Tensei IV from there and I'm seriously considering getting Conception II (Vita) and P4G from there too.

So excited at all the Vita Announcements!

I gotta say that Vita's Future looks secure well into 2015 and beyond

But for 2014 I am so pumped for the Big 3 along with Natural Doctrine, Indies and whatever else they throw at us.

There is almost too much. I really wish i had more free time for games

I won't say no to every single digital-only release... but I already have Soul Sacrifice from PS+ and wanted to upgrade to a retail version of Delta so I could free some space on my 16GB card. The original is over 2GB and with the ridiculous prices on 32/64GB cards I'd rather keep more indie games on my Vita.

I don't know if anyone knows that game but King of Dragon Pass will get a Vita version!

This game is excellent and a good fit for handhelds. It is really unique: combination of 4X strategy, text adventure and RPG. The iOS version has been out for quite some time though, hopefully they'll bring something extra for the Vita one.

I finished Tearaway last week and forgot to post about it:

It was pretty alright. If I were a cynic I'd call it "Gimmick: The Game (not made by Nintendo)" but I actually found most of the stuff pretty charming. I already knew it'd be more of an adventure game rather than a platformer but it had some nice sections from time to time, at least in theory. Conceptually they did some cool stuff with the front and back touch but it sadly doesn't lead to any exciting gameplay because of the complete lack of challenge and the incredibly generous checkpointing.

What I liked however was that the world felt like this huge living, breathing thing. The look of the game, especially the animations, and how you interact with the world really made it appear as an actual thing inside your Vita and was what kept me going. It's been a while since I've played a game with such a compelling world even though they only scratched the surface of what they could have done with it.

Sadly, by the halfway point I was already starting to get bored but I'm still glad I stuck with it to the end and got to see the ending. Ultimately Tearaway didn't live up to the hype for me and I'll be most likely selling it back.

Sorry you didn't enjoy the game man :(. The game, to me at least, felt stronger as an experience, rather than an traditional game; the platforming only picks up toward the end (and even then it isn't that hard) but the world building, the charming world, amazing music and more paint this...vivid world on the Vita that I've honestly could have never seen happen on my PS3.

The game feels like a Nintendo game, and even if it doesn't have the complete 'quality' of one (the tight gameplay that always throws new things at you), it sure damn has the soul of one :). Maybe it will click with you latter on, but sorry you didn't fully enjoy it :(.

I really need to get back to playing games on my Vita. not sure if it's stress from school or what not but can't get myself to sit down and play games anymore

I hear you there. Outside of Second Son and the occasional couple hours of Persona, I haven't been able to get any real playing done these last couple months. Too much work to get done. Semester's almost over, at least.

Just use your PC or PS3 to hold the fridge, no need to redownload
That's what I plan to do from now on (until I upgrade at least)

This is also my take on retail releases that get digital-only releases here for the mostpart, especially in Aus where we get screwed over by conversion rates or price gouged quite often.

There are a few exceptions though.

I hear ya; my college semester has taken a large chunk of my playtime with my PS3 :(. I was able to be Tomb Raider 2013 at least on it though :).

Only four/five more weeks till the semester is over :)

Is there any place that lists the upcoming games on NA PSN? It seems like when I'm in this thread on Tuesday every other person is perfectly aware of what is supposed to come out on that day but me.

I feel like there hasn't been a good sale in a while. Spring Fever kinda sucked.

With EU getting that massive Easter Sale, I'm sure NA will get something within the next few weeks :). Its not like we never get amazing sale; the January 14 for 14, the Halloween Sale last year, and the amazing August Vita sales last year. Got many of my games from them, so I look forward to the next big one :).

With some distance between release and now, I feel like Tearaway might have impressed me more than it should because it was just nice to see Mm make a game that I both enjoyed but was also competent enough that people didn't complain every 5 minutes about the mechanics. It's definitely simple and easy (dying before a checkpoint and popping up after it is really just unforgivable), and I think much of the gameplay is only going to appeal to you if you actually think the gimmicks were clever. Which I personally did, so the whole thing really worked for me.

Thank god you changed your avatar, I had reached the point of getting greek food three times a week thanks to you

Actually, what the hell is it now

From what I can get from the blog post, the Botzone update is paid DLC.

Waiting to see the price.
ShopTo (banned site, can't link) say it's gonna be €2.50.

Sucks that it's paid, but I imagine a lot of effort was put into it. I've seen so many games where the community requested bots support and it just never happened.

That price was in the EU blog post. there's no price in the US post. I'm guessing $2.50

I can't stop playing Unit 13. I wish we could get a sequel, it's an impressive and perfectly structured action game for a handheld.

I wish we had something similar to Unit 13 in design, yet in the Demon's Souls universe.

Hard, but small/medium-sized dungeons/areas to traverse and co-op/scoring/timing information shared over network.

I don't know if anyone knows that game but King of Dragon Pass will get a Vita version! I played the PC version and it's a really fun strategy game! I especially liked that decisions had real consequences which were sometimes unpredictable.

That's going to look great.
