Fighting Games Weekly | April 21-27 | Easter EG Hunting

Aww guys I just started playing this game. What's wrong with 1.1?

Some people don't like the balance still, especially since Kokonoe is still the best character in the game. 1.1 is still better than 1.0, and the game itself is pretty good across both versions anyways. Kokonoe is just a nuisance. Tbh I'd play her (she looks really fun) if I liked her visual/character design more.

Like I said before she's still dumb but she looks a whole lot more manageable now to fight against. 1.0 Koko you couldn't even really press buttons or do anything anywhere on the screen. She looks super good now but I wouldn't call her broken in this version.

It's mostly because people hate fighting characters that make you think when you fight against them. Moreso if the other character doesn't have to really think about what they are doing themselves *auto pilot* Though I think Koko is less auto pilot than say Jin and some other characters.
 
Is the Japanese arcade release of Ultra SF4 the final balance version or will it change by the time it hits consoles?

Also, is there a comprehensive list of these changes yet?

I honestly think she still looks way too good and busted, but whatevs. There's always going to be some tier stuff to deal with and it's better than ToDs.

Only things I could see to tone her down without busting her is to make gravatron recharge follow the rules of rachel's wind. Make activation take up 1/3rd of the meter and to make mine placement cooldown not start til the end of a combo and make it 3 seconds. Maybe lower her forward run speed and forward air dash speed a bit too. If you want to go the extra mile mines vanish on teleport

Even with those changes she should still be at about the same power of the current A tiers and people would still complain about her just because of her play style and toolset.

Edit: Oh yeah and remove the charged 6A :P

Can someone please make a fighting game that is :

1. Balanced
2. Does not have a retarded artstyle(skull girls)
3. Fun to play and watch
4. Has good online

..it's easy right?

What are you basing the game not being balanced on anyways?

the Dalhsim, Hugo match, Guy stuff, and possibly Decapre. I wasn't so much posting those questions because I think USF4 is gonna be horribly unbalanced but these early issues just made me think.

A lot of her design needs to go back to the drawing board. I'm not going to go point by point, but her normals and ability to just shut anything down in neutral using toys is ridiculous. Again, oh well. Stuff's not balanced but the game is fun and we deal with it. Everybody would've liked the patch to do more and it's disappointing it didn't, but we still like and play the game. Guilty Gear has Zappa and P4U has Narukami, but we just play anyways.

P.S. when I posted those videos I was more shitting my pants that Tetsuwo is super godlike and already 19th Dan with Koko. The power of the character is whatevs to me at this point, but seeing Tetsuwo playing her like that is hnnggggg.
 
They aren't going to reveal anything before E3 really. You are wasting your time anticipating anything before that.

And it's probably going to be RE7.

Yeah that's what it is for me. I'm really hoping that RE7 reinvents the wheel but it won't (sadly). I'm expecting a fighter since they did mention they have multiple projects being worked on that are going to be announced this year.

Wait so you're basing this off 2 videos and theory without even seeing how Decapre does against the cast?

When did eventhubs hire you?

It's kinda hard to get the balancing right at release. Ultra changed a lot so they need to first test those changes in the wild (like top players grinding every day for months and at tournaments) then make some adjustments. There will probably be a console patch/edition.

That said don't expect razor sharp balance... game will always have imbalances, bad match ups, vortex/set play characters and top tiers/low tiers.

Hey guys, a guy who plays Dhalsim since vanilla beats a week one Hugo and ONE character out of 44 has a 2f dp, that's probably a bug or something, and even so has to spend 2 bars to do it, this game is HORRIBLY balanced, pre order canceled, fuck you crapcom combofiend is the worst ono pls
 
I don't get what's the big deal with a 2F DP. I get that the whole move being kara canceled is a problem but I don't see the issue with a 2F DP.

Then again I don't know much about the game.

This game is likely to get a patch at some point, hopefully it's soon enough not to kill the game, but late enough that the major bugs get caught, and the PC version doesn't get shafted. (cause I don't want to play on PSN)

Yeah, it's possible that Hugo has something to deal with that, but I can't see this matchup being even.

That said, 43+ characters= some terrible matchups which lead to chars not being repped much at tournies.

Basically nothing is faster than 3f minus command grabs (as far as I know) and setting up to beat 3f invuln moves is a pain, you can't even truly safejump them. Safely dealing with a 2f invuln move is going be just obnoxious and a Guy specific thing.

2F DP means he can punish stuff that no one else can outside of the grappler's U1s. -2 button? Get EX Tatsu'd! it also does decent enough damage as I recall. 50x30*3, I think?

Everything up until this point has had a floor of 3f minus the U1s for the Grapplers. Think about this, if they kept the FADC forward at -3 like it is right now (I think anyway) Guy could mash Ex tatsu and on anyone that was doing that for free damage, lol.

What he said plus SF4 have 4 landing frames. The first 2 frames are true delay where you can't do anything, the second 2 frames can be canceled into block if you don't press a button in the air aka an empty jump. If you do press a button in the air, all 4 frames cannot be canceled into block.

That means 3f DP like Ryu, Ken, Akuma are not safe jumpable but empty jumpable. A 2f DP means that even a empty jump is harder to time and depending how far Guy's EX Tatsu sucks in, he can punish tons of safe move on block and/or on hit.
 
Sounds like a problem that is mostly relevant for vortex character.

It's relevant to anybody who wants to safejump or beat reversals in given situations. So pretty much everybody. There's also stuff that is only -2/3 on block that is only going to be punished by him. There's a lot of strange Guy specific stuff this causes.

But yeah, nothing to raise hell against -- sf4 is one of the most balanced game out there, yet everyone just love to yell at Capcom after every new release...

It's nothing that's getting my panties in a bunch, it's just very weird to give that to Guy.
 
Honestly when I saw the Kokonoe changes on the change list, I thought they nerfed the wrong things.

Oh well, more fun for me in 1.1 with Rachel and Kokonoe. Although I'm getting a bit tired of BBCP or just fighters in general at the moment.

Really want to main Hugo in this game after how much fun I had with Grundy in Injustice.
 
1. SF4:AE is one of the better balanced fighting games ever
2. The art style is actually really well done IMO, first game I've seen try to emulate a water color effect
3. Really fun to play and watch..... Final Round got up to 50k viewers, entrants are always highest for SF. Unless people enter for a game that isn't fun?
4. Online is actually pretty good on 360/PC if you're wired

Killer Instinct also fits your stupid criteria
 
But his EX tatsu is the one that has 2f startup. Here he cancels his normal tatsu into ex bushin izuna, not the 2f version. So....it's way more broken than I thought :lol so broken that it's possibly a glitch

It'll probably be annoying in the long run actually. Buttons down to -2f in AE can be used for pressure (though you won't be at advantage) but Guy having a 2F DP means that it'll have to be -1 or 0 to not get punished. Kind of makes it hard to apply pressure on him if additional buttons are removed from your repertoire.

For T.hawk, I'd lose access to st.lk against Guy which kind of sucks because it's a really active, fast button with good reach that I use in combos, pressures, and to set my spacing.

Oh it's going to be mad obnoxious and I think it shouldn't be there for exactly this reason. Just, I'm not all grumpy and "this game sucks" about it like everybody else I know who's talked about it. I am way more weirded out than grumpy about it.

He is canceling his ex tatsu. It only uses 1 bar because he only has 1 bar available

I bet you can use LP slap to Smack Sim's limbs. Its just like Ryu doing light SRK full screen to maybe catch a limb or build meter.
 
I actually don't mind the EX Tatsu startup so much, but the cancel stuff is ridiculous.

It'd be interesting to think about though, 2 frame start up definitely opens up possibilities. I don't really know frame data well for the cast, but it would mean guy's own -2 run stop pressure would be easily punishable. Rog might be even more pissed witih his dash punishes being punishable if Guy keeps this change lol.
