Rise of Incarnates by Namco's Tekken/SoulCaliber/GundamEx staff [PC exclusive?]

This was originally a junior's post so I'm quoting it; I figured it deserved more of a chance than to be hidden inside of a trademark thread.

Official trailer of the game:

Will be a Free to Play exclusive to the PC with 2x2 battles.

Very interesting.

I'm a little curious about the PC exclusive part, but the game itself looks pretty slick.

Some stuff from the website.

Rise of Incarnates

It was a true catastrophe. Despite the differences in geographical location, it was the same scene the world over: Meteorites fell from the sky, causing a spread of massive cold fronts over several areas. This so-called "cube phenomenon" has enveloped the world, and the people live in perpetual fear of what will become of their planet.

The people lived in an era in which those with special abilities-- dubbed "incarnates"-- roamed the land. The incarnates possessed daimons, who could draw special powers from gods, demons, and monsters present in ancient mythology. But because of their supernatural powers, they were often feared by the general public, and the authorities would attempt to harness these powers for their own ends. As fate would have it though, one day a voice spoke out to all the incarnates: "To avoid certain destruction, you must defeat the Sovereign of this era."

Each incarnate responded to this message differently. Some took it as a revelation, others thought it was merely some sort of hallucination. There were those who took it as a sign of ill omen for the future, while others still tried to use the situation to their advantage and fulfill their innate desires. But regardless of their varying reactions, not a one among them knew what the "Sovereign of this era" was supposed to mean.

With their own interpretations and reasons for fighting, the incarnates enter the fray.

RISE OF INCARNATES COMBINES GROUND-BREAKING 2 vs. 2 GAMEPLAY AND FIGHTING GAME PEDIGREE

BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. Brings an All New Franchise to Life for PCs

SAN JOSE; Calif., (April 22, 2014) – BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. today announces an entirely new franchise, Rise of Incarnates. Forged by the creators of Tekken and SoulCalibur; unfettered 3D battles are about to be unleashed upon PC gamers. Rise of Incarnates is scheduled for release in the latter half of 2014 for PCs in the Americas.

Born from BANDAI NAMCO Games’ fighting game pedigree, the teams behind Tekken, SoulCalibur, and Gundam Extreme VS unite to bring Rise of Incarnates to life. Rise of Incarnates features ground-breaking 2 vs. 2 gameplay, a multitude of characters and roles, and battlegrounds throughout shattered yet accurately rendered real-world cityscapes. These diverse character types and roles, each with unique skills and powers, appeal to a variety of play-styles while accommodating expansive team dynamics and strategy. Players employ sharp reflexes, mental resolve, and strategic insight as they run, jump, and fly through 3D arenas, engaging in both close-quarters combat and long-range assaults.

Players take the role of “Incarnates”, humans that command untold mythical powers as they vie to avoid tragedy and reshape the course of their world. Due to their special abilities, Incarnates are both feared and loathed by the general population while being persecuted by the authorities that want to harness and use their power for their own nefarious needs. One day, a mysterious voice calls out to the Incarnates telling them the only way to avoid certain destruction is to destroy the “Sovereign of this era.” It is here that the battle for dominance amongst Incarnates begins and the fate of life on Earth hangs in the balance.

“As a new franchise, Rise of Incarnates represents the next big step in expanding BANDAI NAMCO’s footprint in the Free-to-Play gaming space,” said In Joon Hwang, Director of Digital Games at BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. “Having been built from the ground up, Rise of Incarnates contains the necessary attributes that create a rich and dynamic gaming environment that fans are sure to enjoy.”

My god I want to play this.

Reminds me of Gunslinger Stratos

Oh man Gunslinger Stratos is so fun, one of my favorite arcade games.

I'd be odd playing this without some sort of light gun or controller though.

Oh Bandai Namco's western team. I wonder how it'll turn out.

Looks like a new Power Stone almost. Fun for a little bit I'm sure, but not on the same tier as Soul Calibur.

f2p is probably the right call with this one. Anarchy Reigns more than showed that no one wants to pay retail prices for this type of game.

Looks like early footage, animations could use some work, it looks a bit weird overall, could be fun though if it's like anarchy reigns, I would give it a chance

From the FB Page:
Fury & Glory, Two at a Time. Forged by creators of the Tekken and SoulCalibur franchises, Rise of Incarnates unleashes unfettered 3D combat upon the PC.

But yeah, it most definitely seems to be F2P.

Well I've signed up for the alpha, here's hoping it's good and that I actually commit to playing it. Being on PC is a definite plus. They might be aiming for PS4 as well eventually?

I wasn't feeling it until it started showing pseudo gamepaly footage.

Now I am VERY curious.

I was about to point out that it was gameplay until I realized what you meant.

Then I got sad that I'm so used to looking at trailers that aren't gameplay that I consider "in game" video with touched up camera angles "gameplay".

Looks interesting, but PC exclusive. :( Appearance-wise, it looks like they had PC/Western gamers in mind with the designs. Hopefully it's good, but I wonder how far they will go with the F2P.

Bamco has a pretty shitty reputation for handling DLC/IAPs..

Expectations lowered, but then again Tekken Revolution was 'successful'

Yeah, the F2P could potentially hurt it and in all honesty, I don't think there will be much demand for this if it is exclusive to PC. We will see though.

I was thinking the same thing. Although it looks way more appealing than 90% of fighting games IMO, so I'm hoping it eventually comes to PS4.

Ugly Alex Mercer, generic DC Comics hero, Dr. Wily, generic dagger girl = :(
Looks like Anarchy Reigns = sold Interest 100%

Namco's fighting game teams are currently

Adding Content to:
Soul Calibur: Lost Swords
Tekken Revolution

Developing:
Smash Brothers WiiU/3DS
Tekken X Street Fighter
Rise of Incarnates
[rumored]Pokken

I'm VERY surprised at how much they're accomplishing.

/How long did you know MarkMan/

I don't know. But this game is amazing from what I've seen already.

Also, I don't know if it is mentioned anywhere from the Bandai Namco Games reports from their Global Gamers' Day recently. But this game is being handled by Baba-san's team. The same Baba-san that did the incredibly popular Gundam VS arcade games. That team.
