Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I think Bayonetta would be a more interesting, fun and practical fighter but I generally think 3rd party characters in Smash should be important to Nintendo and tied into Nintendo history. Sonic, Megaman and Pacman are all mascots for their respective company that have a rivalry with Nintendo's own mascot, Mario. Im not too keen on 3rd party characters like Simon Belmont, Bayonetta, Snake, Leon, etc.

Castlevania is a huge part of Nintendo's history and more closely tied with their platforms than any other. Simon is the most deserving rep outside of Mega Man.

I'd hate to say it, but, despite the majority of the franchise being released on Nintendo consoles, I don't really consider Castlevania a "Nintendo" franchise in the way that I might consider Mega Man, Dragon Quest, Classic Final Fantasy or even Modern Sonic, if only because almost all the big games in the franchise after the first one (Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, Lords of Shadow), were non-Nintendo releases.

The thing also that makes me hopeful is that there isn't half of the memory being taken up by a giant story mode... At least that doesn't seem like the case.

Edit: I guess I should post my dream roster to see what you guys think!

Dream roster? Absolutely.
Realistic? Probably not. :(

LeAy4ARh.jpg

I support this roster.

60 characters, can you imagine??

It's obviously back. :P
It looks like Sakurai is avoiding making it the only means of recovery though. I mean I still expect Link, Samus, and Lucas (if he's in) to have them with their grabs, but characters like Olimar, ZSS, and
Ivysaur :(
now have other options so they can't be gimped as easily.

For the Pokémon League stage in the WiiU version, which appears to rotate through the main hall and rooms of the Elite 4 (and maybe the Champion, as well), I'm hoping for the following boss characters:

Malva's room -- Talonflame:

Wikstrom's room -- Aegislash:

Drasna's room -- Noivern:

Siebold's room -- Barbaracle:

Diantha's room -- Mega Gardevoir:

In each case, the Pokémon is the highest-level Pokémon in the trainer's team, and generally the last one they send out into battle. Thus, it seems appropriate they be the Pokémon that appear as bosses. Perhaps beating each one would advance you to the next room of the Elite Four, culminating in the Champion?

I picture Talonflame staying high up in the air, using Brave Bird to dive-bomb the combatants... Aegislash changing between its shield and blade forms, soaking up and dishing out damage, respectively... Noivern unleashing Boomburst until someone takes him down... and Barbaracle lumbering across the stage, slashing at people with his claws. Mega Gardevoir, meanwhile, could disrupt the battle with reality-bending psychic powers. :-)

Nobody pays to attention to Lords of Shadow and Sotn ended up being the precursor to the series becoming firmly entrenched as a GBA/DS franchise for the next several years. Not to mention CV was one of the few franchises to take its first steps into 3D on the N64 instead of the Playstation.

I know. I'm making fun of him thinking that no Ridley = not caring about the west.

leaving out a highly demanded character for no LEGIT reason at all = does not make any sense business wise at all. West got what little mac and that''s pretty much it when japan got shulk, paletania chorus men. Also it's very childish to make fun of someone on the forum, how about contributing some CONSTRUCTIVE post.

Nah, just stating the fact.

Woah.

Without Sakurai Smash would be a steaming pile of...

Who's droning about it incessantly (aside from Soviet Prince >_>)? It's you guys that keep drive-by posting those "Ridley fans are all delusionals" messages, we just reply back. And again you're talking like you have proof, while we have not, though if you want to get strict, Sakurai NEVER said Ridley's gonna be a boss: he hinted at it but he never outright said it. I'm saying this while being convinced that he IS a boss as well, I just want to show you that in fact you have absolutely no hard evidence, just like us. You're also speculating on the basis of what was shown to us, my point isn't that we have proof, my point is that Sakurai has been so vague and had such a weird behaviour on this whole Ridley thing, that we should wait before saying he's 100% not in.

Also, as I showed in the bolded, it seems you're more invested than us in this whole argument, you actually say with a straight face you're trying to kill any debate on Ridley being in. It's you who are fixated on this whole Ridley thing frankly: just leave alone those who want him in, why do you have to be aggressive?

Yes I so delusional, I also think the game be just fine without him some decisions are questionable at best.

well it seems that posting your dislike on something makes you a target on this board, did not know gaf was this one sided.

I think they'd work better as hazards than bosses... Talonflame would be ridiculously hard to hit with its size and speed. Maybe it would work better if you replace it with Pyroar. Aegislash's gimmick also might not work that well in a non-turn-based game.

I do love the idea of their strongest Pokemon attacking the fighters. I'd love more stage hazards in Smash 4 with the option to turn certain ones on and off.

I like sharing my suffering with others.

I just saw that quote you made about Platinum characters.

We can't be GAFbros anymore.

</3

FWIW, Wonderful Ones > Bayonetta and I'd love to see Saki in, so I guess I want both a Platinum and a Treasure character in by extension.

The West also got Shulk, Palutena, and Chorus Men. The first two are also highly requested characters in the West, and the while the Chorus Men weren't requested anywhere, Rhythm Heaven is popular in both regions. You might as well be saying "Japan got Ike" about Brawl.

Pichu was literally a wasted slot.

You'd be surprised how many people actually want him back in the franchise in some form. I spent some time in one of the Project M clone slot threads on Smashboards a while back and there's a big following for him to come back.

I just can't even

Hey guys, who wants to play as a poor man's Pikachu who hurts itself when he attacks and has nothing better over Pikachu?
I barely touched him so correct me if I'm wrong

Dude is strong as fuck! Like literally, he hits like a plane carrying trucks full of snorlaxes

What franchise is Dan from, is he the token "not very good at all" character in his parent franchise?

Link is my second or third favorite character in all of gaming, but I hate to play as him in Smash. He's just too slow and I can't use most of his moves effectively.

Street Fighter.

Also, he's actually a pretty good character so I don't know what people are implying by every franchise needing a Dan. Dude is GOAT.

Dude, the fact of the matter is that we all know you wouldn't be saying any of this shit if Ridley was confirmed. The crazy part is he's not even deconfirmed and you're acting like Sakurai is the worst dude ever. Palutena, chorus kids, shulk, Ridley, NONE of those dudes are confirmed or deconfirmed and SO MUCH of this game is still up in the air. There's so much left to be seen and it's way too early to start claiming that Sakurai doesn't love you.

Street Fighter.

The term Dan of *insert game* is often used wrong. Dan is a joke character who's intentionally bad. He's basically a gimped Ryu/Ken/Akuma/etc

Ganondorf in Brawl is the Dan of smash.

Edit: Completely off topic but I don't wanna make a thread. I'm watching Zelda Informer play Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask with the same controller controlling both games at the same time. XD http://www.twitch.tv/archaois Quite interesting

And what does GOAT mean?? The only context I've seen it used in that I thought made sense was talking about games, as in - Game Of All Time. But that doesn't work with characters so...?

Dan is a joke character in Street Fighter. His moves and damage in general are laughable; for example, his fireballs barely leave his hand before dissipating, and one of his super moves is just him taunting again and again. He is intentionally and consistently bottom-tier.

He is still way better than Brawl Link. :-(

Brawl Ganondorf is not even MvC2 Roll tier.

Ganondorf in Brawl is the Dan of smash.

I knew it was bad when I saw his running animation. Still the funniest fucking thing ever.

What's more, regarding Link, it's kinda hilarious playing Project M and realizing that Link can never ever be just OK. It's either he's shit tier as hell or oppressive as fuck.

Yeah. I know.

I'm not sure if I'd consider Ganondorf the Dan of Smash considering that Sakurai didn't intentionally make him a joke character...or did he. We'll find out when he's revealed for U and 3DS.
