Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Random question but does anyone think there will be a themed Smash Bros 3DS XL at all?

They do a lot of special ones so hopefully. I was eyeing a new system but then I remembered they might do a themed XL.

Hopefully it just has a classy smash logo design and isn't over the top with characters or something.

Thanks everyone. Seemed obvious but no harm asking.

Hopefully it just has a classy smash logo design and isn't over the top with characters or something.

I'm hoping it's this. Maybe a black design with the logo being red. Another design that could work is Master Hand and Crazy Hand.

Additionally, what about characters who gain relevance after the game's out.
We could've had Shulk in Brawl. Characters that had a spotlight moment that is now gone like Zoroark could've had a chance

Doubt Sakurai and crew are going to indefinitely hang around making content years after the game is finished. If they do DLC, it is either going to be the result of having left over ideas they don't want to leave on the cutting room floor, or it is something planned akin to what we've seen in Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Hopefully it just has a classy smash logo design and isn't over the top with characters or something.
Smash logo is an X in Japan isn't it?

Just saw that the Smash Bros for 3DS/Wii U now have the western Smash logo. No X in sight.

Melee had the normal Smash logo as well, but it was below the title. Brawl only had an X in the title.

the DLC talk reminded me the "version differences" between NTSC and PAL melee... I STILL HATE THEM!! I have PAL and that means that the opponent can upB just after being hit with marths dair. So, if i play with friends or against the CPU (casually), I CANT KEN COMBO (they can recover). How sad is that!? :|

? Melee was DX in Japan and Brawl was X

Not sure what you mean by logo being different.

I thought Japan didn't use it for Smash in the title and thought the X in Brawl's logo was what they used, but I just saw that Melee had it underneath the title.

Some say it's a window because the kid in the N64 intro is playing by one. But I've never been convinced by that idea.

I feel that if they really wanted Ganondorf to have a unique moveset, it would have been done
in Brawl.

That dojo pic still stings.

Honestly, all Ganondorf needs is 3 new special moves and he'd be set imo.

Neutral Special - Dead Man's Volley: When tapped, Ganondorf throws a singular magicball. Most Melee attacks can reflect the projectile. It will get stronger with each bounce.

If the attack is charged up (cannot be saved) then Ganondorf will throw 5 at once which are harder to reflect overall due to them going on weird trajectories

Side Special - Flame Choke: Same as in Brawl on ground. In the air though Ganondorf will continue his momentum as he grabs his opponent. He can then suicide them off the stage or what not.

Up Special - Possessport: Ganondorf teleports through the Twilight. If he teleports directly on the opponent (think Jiggypuff rest hitbox) then he and the opponent switches spots. If not, then it's a normal non damaging teleport.

I'd be quite open to many other Up Specials for him though. This was just what came off the top of my head

Down Special - Gerudo Drop: Ganondorf punches the ground which creates a shockwave around him. It pops up enemies and gets stronger the closer they are to him. Range is about one Bowser away from him in either direction. Only hits grounded enemies. When done in the air Ganondorf crashes down fist first into the ground. Strong sweet spot is on his fist, otherwise it acts like the grounded one when he hits the ground.

So would anyone be opposed to that for Ganondorf? He can keep his A moves as they are actually pretty awesome, and maybe be a tad bit faster. Link's speed is a good comparison. They should be close to equal.

Every Smash Bros. has used this since the first one on the N64, in all regions. No, Japan does not use an X, AFAIK, other than as part of Brawl's Japanese name.

Yeah, the X in Brawl's logo stands for X. They use the circle in all the games everywhere.

Those are the exact three special moves I'd like to see Ganondorf have as well.

I don't see how he doesn't have at least Dead Man's Volley in the game at all. It's literally what defines him. He's used it in Zelda, Link To The Past, Ocarina of time, The Oracles and Twilight Princess, then his Phantom uses it in Ocarina of Time, Four Swords Adventures, and Wind Waker, and even Nightmare uses it in Links Awakening. Hell, Aghanim copies him and uses it in Link to the Past too XD

It's more likely that we could see Falco with few more moveset changes.

Dual Pistols. Please believe :3

"Pic of the day. Ganondorf joins the battle! Some of the older fighters have gained new moves, but not Ganondorf. Many people make fun of Ganondorf for this."

For the most part I would be good with that. His B-up could be him throwing his trident in the air and where the trident peaks in the air is where he teleports to. Any players hit by the trident will also be hurt. However I liked your idea for most everything.

An idea for his forward special instead of flame choke could be him sending out Phantom Ganon and Phantom Ganon has a wide range of attack. Or they could have him do a dash and slash with his dual swords.

I've always felt like the energy volley just makes Ganondorf look incompetent

I AM A GREAT AND TERRIBLE WIZARD AND HAVE SUBJUGATED THE WORLD UNDER MY THUMB, YOU CAN NEVER DEFEAT ME

*weakly throws small energy at you like a kitten trying to play*

Yeah, I thought of him using his trident as well. I'd be fine with either honestly. Or even something like Phantom Ganon'd (OoT) charge attack with his trident.

So Phantom Ganon vs Phantom Zelda? ;)

Even as just a cosmetic change, I would love this.

It's what I thought would happen when Falco appeared in SSE

as many people has been saying over the years, they could give dorf's current moveset to Black Shadow(yay pseudo f-zero newcomer... ok not really) and give him one based on OoT and TP, second would fit better since he will be looking like that version

I think they could keep most of Dorf's moves but change their properties and change the moves that no one uses. Maybe gives some more reach with a sword. I don't think anyone would really miss the warlock punch which takes a year to come out. As long as he still has the suicide grab.

For the Pokémon League stage in the WiiU version, which appears to rotate through the main hall and rooms of the Elite 4 (and maybe the Champion, as well), I'm hoping for the following boss characters:

Malva's room -- Talonflame:

663.png

Wikstrom's room -- Aegislash:

681.png

Drasna's room -- Noivern:

715.png

Siebold's room -- Barbaracle:

689.png

Diantha's room -- Mega Gardevoir:

282-m.png

In each case, the Pokémon is the highest-level Pokémon in the trainer's team, and generally the last one they send out into battle. Thus, it seems appropriate they be the Pokémon that appear as bosses. Perhaps beating each one would advance you to the next room of the Elite Four, culminating in the Champion?

I picture Talonflame staying high up in the air, using Brave Bird to dive-bomb the combatants... Aegislash changing between its shield and blade forms, soaking up and dishing out damage, respectively... Noivern unleashing Boomburst until someone takes him down... and Barbaracle lumbering across the stage, slashing at people with his claws. Mega Gardevoir, meanwhile, could disrupt the battle with reality-bending psychic powers. :-)
Wanted to add to my idea above and say that in each room, the Elite 4 Trainer (or Champion, as the case may be) can appear in the background and command the Pokémon that attacks the players, like Pokémon Trainer standing in the background in Brawl. I'd love this since the E4 members all had great designs in X/Y.

I doubt we'll see 4-5 bosses on the same stage, heck I imagine at most we'll see 2 being master and crazy hand on a boss version of final destination

Count on it. This is their only big 3DS game this year so far.

EDIT: Boy, do I always pick the popular posts to respond to

Also they made a yoshi 3DSXL, it would be stupid not to do a smash one after that.

(Although the game is bad the yoshi 3DS actualy looks pretty good.)

remembered you, huh.

This made be realize that this is the first time we get the same subtitle as Japan for a Smash game.

Also PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale's name is funny to me now that I just found out that the Japanese name of the first Smash game was Nintendo All Star! Dairantō Smash Brothers
