Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

It's not even the fireballs even if they're nutty as fuck. It's the combination of giving him stupidly high attack power (who's brilliant idea was it to make his fair vary between being a spike or Dr. Mario's dunk; let's not even get into fsmash or dsmash), making everything recover a billion times faster than you are ever truly prepared for, giving him huge priority on down B, a slide that stays active as long as Zero's buttons in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 that can combo into itself up to 3 times, DI taken into account, and of course a faster cape that can launch you if sweet spotted.

This character is amazing and stupid at the same time. :lol
When you put it that way, he starts to sound like Melee Sheik.

It seems like the Project M team was trying to make him the ideal beginner character and went a bit over the top with it.

I don't understand how you guys can dislike Wario, they added a ton of references to Wario games (where Brawl!Wario had just a few) and his Shoulder Charge is one of the most satisfying moves to use in Smash Bros. It's a little over-centralizing maybe, but that's kinda true to the Wario Land games in and of itself.

Project M Wario is great for his forward throw alone.

The removal of the bike and that weird forward smash with the stubby kick were huge-turn offs for me. The overt zaniness of Brawl Wario was more up my alley, I guess.

Play Marth, never worry about grabbing difficulty again. :-P

Hey, stop giving away the tech man! :P

The best is getting a forward throw chain on lighter/smaller characters in P:M that leads into a utilt grab reset because "fuck you I can grab you this many times." :lol

Every character design in Project M should become standard, with maybe the exception of Lucario. PM game design is too good.

Agreed, with some exceptions. R.O.B.'s new jumping mechanics are also stupid.

Honestly, Project M is really, really good, but it seems there's a lot of changes that are just there for the sake of change. Especially Lucario. Ugh.

Yeah, definitely. WarioLand Wario is so boring compared to crazy WarioWare Wario. His moves in Project M are just kinda slow and awkward.

Mewtwo and the Mother boys aren't the only psychics in Melee.

I hate Marth's grabs in Melee so much (or love them, depending on if I'm playing as him).
Hitting people to the side of you when you use your Up Smash, though, makes even less sense to me.

Yeah, I played 3, 4 and Shake It. Convinced myself I was gonna like each one then got bored and stopped playing a few levels in.
You can hardly call Wario boring in them though. Half the fun is how he can't die and his various transformations (aka getting mangled by foes) are both curses and blessings.

Based on the last Direct, I'd say someone over on the development team has played Project M, before.

I
don't know
dobut sakurai took any cues from PM...Tho I do wonder if he has ever tried it or looked at the changes to characters.

His transformations still move really slow though, even the fastest moving ones. It's not awful or anything, but I don't know why you'd want that in smash in place of the WarioWare version who's just too much fun.

wait, what's the difference between Marth's up smash in Melee/PM and Brawl?

For some weird reason, brawl marth's up smash launches characters into his blade when characters are beside him while in melee it didn't...Now if only peach's up smash worked like that.

Toxi, is there a link you could direct me to where i can find a ton of clips like that for each character which shows the hit boxes?

btw hi neogaf, new here but have been following this super smash bros thread as a ghost religiously since thread 1
