Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I want the parasol to return as an item. Please note this could be a Parasol Waddledee so for all we know that parasol just floats away like it does in the Kirby games.

Emphasising so people keep their hype levels in check.

So because Dedede no longer throws Waddle Dees is that Smash Run?

I don't really like the Dragoon. Not because it is strong, but because the fight over it completely hijacks the match. As long as one piece is on the field, the others are very quick to follow, you can't get rid of them without collecting the whole set, and it is so powerful of an item that you can't ignore it.

On top of that, it feels like it shows up in every lengthy match. Smash Balls are enough of a distraction, and the Dragoon is ten-times worse (without the fun factor of character-unique Final Smashes).

Thankfully it is easy to turn off. There has only been a small number of items I have ever turned off in Melee and Brawl, and the Dragoon tops that list.

Agree with everything you wrote.

ew you guys use items.

A truly skilled player navigates around random chance, they don't hide from it ;)

The umbrella here is unlikely to be an item. In Kirby games, many Waddle Dees float down on umbrellas and the umbrella floats off and does damage when it lands. This seems to match that.

Yeeeeeah, these images are all blatantly fake. Is uploading a meager gameplay video too difficult? Considering the 3DS version apparently comes out this summer, we should be getting a real leak within the next month or two.

LOL

Yeah, I think the parasol was Waddle Dee's...looks a little small for the characters, but I wonder why it's just hanging in the air like that. Was it knocked out?

I love Waddle Dees, so it always pains me whenever I end up slaughtering them in Kirby games...:(

One of the things I enjoy about item play is that it discourages camping. You can enjoy your good position, but eventually a Maxim Tomato or pokeball is going to come up and that's going to force a mini-engagement.

When more than two players:
Items on Medium-High.
No Dragoon Parts or Smash Balls.
When two players:
No Items.

Seriously, they need custom item probability this time. Dragoon Parts and Smash Balls are fun. But holy hell, they appear too often. I'm guessing Master Ball will be the problem item this time around, too.

I think it'd be nice if you only got one Smash Ball per match, if at all, when they're switched on. That'd make Smash Balls more like a special event rather than a complete upheaval of the match as everyone runs to get it. And the Dragoon has got to go.

Absolutely not. Items require skill to properly use and evade.
If the skill required to properly use and evade items were comparable instead of wildly unbalanced then West Coast smashers would still be using them. It's exactly the same skewed risk/reward scenario that leads to the evasion clause.

I usually don't have items on, and I don't think I'm a snob for it, either. I just have more fun maneuvering around without being interrupted constantly by random shenanigans. Sakurai made the core mechanics of dashing, jumping, dodging and rolling so fun that I simply prefer to have the room to appreciate it. :-)

I do love setting Pokeballs to Very High and playing an all-Pokémon match on the Pokémon stages, however. Fandom overload!
