Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Dang, I missed the SmashGAF roster. You all would've loved my inclusion!

It was John Egbert. I's always John Egbert. I am personally victimized by John Egbert.

I wonder how many characters we will truly have.. Since the 3DS version comes out in the Summer.
I'm assuming somewhere close to 50. 36-37 from Brawl (depending on if Snake stays) plus somewhere around 15 newcomers. The popular leak number of 48 seems like a decent sweetspot to me, though 50 is a nice, even number.

I'd be really surprised (in a bad way) if it was less than 45.

I really hope there is a decent amount of newcomers that are held back as unlockables so those who can resist the allure of the internet can go unspoiled and recapture that magic of being a kid and encountering mewtwoWUT!?

I so want this to desperately be my plan. But I don't think it will. :(

I'll find out about the full roster sooner or later whether I wanted to or not. :(

Edit: No more Junior?!! :D

My direct satisfaction is ending. I need a Captain Falcon announcement in the next 15 days. Or the Bill Murray Giant Head, that's still pretty likely to happen.

After Sakurai revealing almost all of them before Brawl's launch, I'm not hopeful.

The Dojo really killed the hype of that game. It revealed way too much before launch.

Agreed. I think the fact that we won't see stuff like Music or stuff like full on moveset updates and really long explanation texts will help with that simply because of the picture-only format.

Wasn't there during press brawl dojo days but I agree that the pics will leave a lot more nuances to mechanics, movesets , items, etc that we will have to fully explore to really appreciate.

Anyone else think the character reveals are going to be paced based on the Wii U release versus the 3DS one? I have a feeling the full starting roster's going to be revealed in time for the 3DS, while the unlockable ones will start rolling out before the Wii U release.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't almost every update during Brawl days, had some kind of info? Whether it was music, stages, or settings?

With the current format we get silly pictures for updates sometimes. Haha

Ah, it landed on dat tail.

This seems extremely likely for the conservation/maximization of HYPE. I want a reason to keep looking at POTD even though I am getting the 3DS ver. and that would be it. I also plan on taking my time w/ unlockables and just soak the goodness of Smash in since they are once in a blue moon like console Zelda's.

Once the 3DS version is out we'll know all the characters anyways.

Well that would still be based around the 3DS release as they only revealed the unlockables after the previous Smash releases.

I maintain hope that, even though the 3DS is first and they have the same characters, that there are characters exclusive to the Wii U version that, for the 3DS version, either come via a mandatory patch or unlock when you connect the Wii U to the 3DS

This is what I'm thinking too. It's the best way to do it if they want to maintain the hype leading up to the Wii U release.

Unrelated: By the way, those worried about screen real-estate on the 3 DS version need not worry and should go and look at the direct on their 3ds because it looks grand and perfectly discernable on my OG 3 DS & I have poor vision even!

Pic of the day. Yoshi's Egg Throw now leaves a rainbow trail, and we've improved the pose Samus strikes when she fires the Paralyzer. Every staff member is working hard as we brush up whatever we can.

Ice Climbers!!!

Jk it's just Zero Suit Samus and Yoshi
