Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

Pic of the day. Yoshi's Egg Throw now leaves a rainbow trail, and we've improved the pose Samus strikes when she fires the Paralyzer. Every staff member is working hard as we brush up whatever we can.
Samus looks like she's made of rubber.

I imagine all the effects and animations for the characters need to be finalized for both games before the 3DS version launches. Hence, the need to polish when/where they can.

By comparison, her original shooting pose was ass, and in a bad way.

Agreed; and this is a much greater improvement over Pit and his new bow firing posture. Very convincing indeed. I loom forward to all the other little refinements and for link's face to not be a nightmare to behold in the Wii U ver.!

I maintain hope that, even though the 3DS is first and they have the same characters, that there are characters exclusive to the Wii U version that, for the 3DS version, either come via a mandatory patch or unlock when you connect the Wii U to the 3DS

While waiting for the Pic of the Day, I decided to make a mock-up of SmashGAF's ideal roster.

You are Welcome.

If there was like an "exclusive" or DLC character for later, and it was someone like Goku, it would have to be like the most downloaded DLC percentage wise ever. Just because.

It just dawned on me that we've possibly had the answer to Peach's mysterious rainbow attack since the direct...

Never mind, the gradients don't match and peach has attack effects on her hand and at theother end of the rainbow. Chalk it up to me being tired and impulsive LOL, thought I was totally on to something. Probably custom move

Yoshi's egg looks much large than what I remember. Its larger than Samus' head

Went back and looked at direct footage of Yoshi and in one scene the egg is huge when thrown and the other when facing Mario, it is normal size. I wonder if that could mean it is chargeable now?

Edit: on second thought/look I think it is just perspective trickery

I guess they are trying to buff him up as much as possible. Makes me wonder if Samus or Link have been notably improved

Does that mean the release for the 3DS version ist nearer than we imagined? That does sound a little bit like they are done with adding content..

Woah. The fact that Sakurai is telling that really tells the amount of pressure all the staff members should have right now to finish the game in time, at least the 3DS version wich is coming first. We really appreciate all this little details such as the rainbow trail and improved poses. This game is gonna be the best!.

Smash 3DS for June, Hyrule Warrior for July, Bayo 2 for August. *Finger crossed*
*Nintendo E3 presentation*
*Smash4 trailer just ended*

Sakurai enters the stage, takes the mic from Iwata:" Super Smash. Bros for 3DS will be available for download *directly* after this presentation.

*drops mic, eShop crashes, IRC crashes, GAF is down, humanity is at peace, the last Metroid is in captivity*

Nice pic, but Samus looks weird.

I don't want to bring unnecessary hate this guy's channel because I like his videos but this video http://youtu.be/htWiWo5bZuc made me want to ask you guys on his opinion on the for glory mode and items in competitive play.
This is from many pages ago, but holy shit, I never imagined VGA appearing hear lol. Fraser's always pissing off angry fan groups.

That sounds like a horrible idea and I hope it never happens. There are better ways to keep hype then giving 3DS users a portion of a game.

Nintendo e3 ends up being 30 minutes longer because the crowd wouldnt stop screaming in joy, riots start happening, thousands dead.

Anything that makes me willing to play as Yoshi more than twice per game is a great improvement in my book. Let's hope this time around he isn't the bottom of the barrel again.

Samus doesn't seem that off to me anyway, she's just striking a very dynamic pose.

Who says it would be a portion. Conversely, there could be characters on the 3DS that aren't unlocked on the Wii U until connecting too, to make it fair.

Having to connect to a WiiU would be a big "fuck you" to 3DS owners. I could get behind a free patch when the WiiU version comes out though.

To me, "brushing up" gives me more hope that Smash for Wii U is actually going to make it out by the year's end. I know lots of folks were pessimistic about that, thinking it would slip into early 2015. If Sakurai's team is "brushing up" in late April, that's a good sign.

What if they still have to work on whatever better modes the Wii U version has?
I like City Trial

I wouldn't be too surprised if they'd go the Mario Golf 3DS route - day 1 DLC for both Wii U and 3DS. 3-5 characters and remakes of old maps.

Did you expect anything other than August?

It's Smash Bros, so I was guessing around September. But the way things are going right now, it could also be the end of July.

Fair in that everyone has the freedom to buy the game twice in order to unlock all the content maybe.
