Are there even many games junior high kids can play on the vita? Most of my collection is 16 or 18 rated, and these are pretty much some of the best games the vita has to offer
"PlayStation Vita? What's That?"

Where!? $249 and I'd jump on one. Warehouse has them for $329 still, no way I am paying that.

And then, I've also got a relative who's been gaming all her life, worked in a game store for a while, calls the thing "PSP Vita" consistently.
I had someone think it was a PSP once during a family picnic
They asked what games I had on it and I said Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Gravity Rush, WipEout etc. They told me that they sounded like weird games![]()
Vita is a stupid name, if Sony simply called it PSP2 it would get much higher sales.
Vita is a stupid name, if Sony simply called it PSP2 it would get much higher sales. Possibly enough to be taken seriously by anyone other than indies and japanese dating sims devs.
Whenever I've had friends over, even those who casually game they usually spot my Vita on the coffee table. I have been surprised on numerous occasions when they're like 'what's this? Is it a PSP?'
Today I was at a friends house and their junior high age kids heard I have an Xbox One and PS4. When they asked about the consoles I said I also have a 3DS and Playstation Vita. That was followed by 'what's a Vita?'
Has anyone else noticed how Sony can't market their handheld at all?
What? No. This is the least of their problems. PS Vita is ok, even if people tend to say "PSP Vita".

guess it depends who is asking
A few friends haven't recognized the Wii U, but at least some have. Nintendo Land is still the go-to with my main group of friends.
Sony was smart to cut their losses. No amount of advertising is going to save the Vita.
Name the last time you saw a commercial for Vita in the US? I genuinely can't think of a time, this is hardly surprising.
You're a software developer or work in a Game Stop, right? On the other hand I know two other people at work with Vitas.
A PSPgo charger works fine with the Vita USB cable too. I bought a couple extras of those when they were on blowout at HMV for $3 each and they've come in real handy.FYI, use a galaxy tab USB converter and you can charge your vita with a normal USB charger
Sony has a new handheld?
I got that with Gamecube too occasionally. Some people are just casual as fuck.
That thing sold 10k last month in the US... is that really surprising?
Try asking them if they wanna play the Wii U.....![]()
Needless to say you left your family after that, right?
The Vita is a dead console, so I guess that's why.
It's a shame that Sony never took the Vita seriously, it's a nice piece of hardware but there's barely any first party software.
I love it! Having more than 100 games already. I'm fine for a looooong time. If Sony kills it, I don't mindHow can you not love a Vita.
90+ hours on P4G right now so yep."Portable Persona 4 machine" imo
There's a point at which no amount of marketing can save a product that is undesirable
Portable Minecraft exists, on phones. Minecraft will -not- save Vita.If I were Sony, I'd freeze all marketing until Minecraft Vita is out, then go nuts with one major commercial campaign as a last shot. Highlight Minecraft, CoD, Assassin's Creed, Borderlands, and two other noteworthy but kid-frienly(er) franchises, maybe Ratchet and Gravity Rush. If portable Minecraft won't save the Vita, nothing will.
anecdotes =/= problem.
I've only ever seen 1 person with a 3DS, and I know two other people with a Vita. Sony is doing just fine with their marketing.
