What if it's for Mario Kart DS?

I remember some of the stuff anime game players would get on SRK back in the day... hoooly fuck. I can't even quote any of it because I would probably get banned.

Absolutely nothing compared to the Smash hate. Nothing. I've been around SRK for more than a decade, I've seen a lot.

Do you mind giving some more Melty advice? I'm a pretty new player (I've been playing for a few months, but I'm bad enough at fighting games that a few months might as well be a few weeks :V), and I'm trying to figure out how to deal with a couple of things right now.

I play C-Hisui and I pretty much only play against an F-Aoko and a C-Kouma, and I have a hard time dealing with both of them. My neutral is awful, so I always end up getting air-dashed on trying to get in on Aoko and I find it really hard to deal with Kouma's j.C. If I can get in on them, I don't really have a strong mixup game when they're in pressure outside of frame-trap/throw and their defense is good enough that they can tech most of my throws. When I land a throw, I've usually been doing j.2C for a left-right mixup but I feel as if they're getting better at reading me so I've been trying to do more bento pressure. I've been using EX Dust and rebeats to reset pressure and I just realized that I can use books to get back in, so that's something I've been practicing. If they get in on me, the Aoko can go for a blockstring into Blue Fire or orb high-low-left-right and the Kouma is good at using his 5A and rekka in frame traps mixed in with his command grab, and those both feel way more solid (and high damaging) than my throw mixup. C-Hisui's j.B and j.C feel kinda awkward to use--j.B whiffs on crouchers and j.C whiffs on crouchers if I do it too slowly after her airdash in the corner, which happens a lot--so I've never been good at mixing those in.

Basically, I was just wondering how to actually play this character and how to play this game lol. Am I approaching this the wrong way for trying to deal with their j.Cs with air normals? Should I be throwing more pots even at Aoko who can 236A faster than I can throw? Are there better mixups for her than frametrap/throw when they're in pressure? Lol, how do I even play a neutral game without bulldogging my way in? I have so many questions questions (probably due to how bad I am at fighting games overall) so I was hoping you have some general advice for new players.
Let me preface this by saying that I have very little experience playing Hisui (but some experience fighting her), but with that said... In regards to your neutral: let me show you something:

Hisui in the air is best played either laterally or below the opponent -- her hitboxes kind of suck for hitting people below her. One thing to keep in mind about her j.C is that it's slooowwwww -- 21 frames! So you'll need to be proactive in using it (don't use it reactively or you'll just get bodied), but the table is completely disjoint so you have some leeway there. The book is also completely disjoint and the first hit is out in 6 frames, which is solid for a B attack -- faster than both C-Kouma and F-Aoko's j.Cs (Kouma's is i11 and Aoko's is i9). j.BB also carries momentum -- backwards jump, backdash, j.BB well get you away from anything in a hurry. If you're on the ground, throw some stuff! You know you can control what she throws, right? After doing the command, you can hold a direction and get a fixed item (or set of items with the B version) IIRC, in neutral 214B~6 is what most people use as it lobs both a pot up and a book straight -- but learn what each variant does. Although if Aoko is also on the ground, getting shot by her can be a problem. You should still be able to use it to control space if she's in the air, though. It'll make her approach harder.

With your offense: I think you have a fair bit of the right idea, honestly. You might be getting too predictable. Remember, Crescent characters have a lot of leeway in regards to not only their blockstrings, but the cadence of the blockstrings and pressure sequences as well. You need to learn what you can stagger, and how long you can delay your strings. Learn when you can use 5C instead of 5[C] to get back in. You also need to learn her tech trap setup after air throw if you don't know it -- 5A2C after the air throw can catch all tech directions, but the timing is a lot tighter than it used to be. Don't worry about your jump-ins (this isn't MBAC where she had the superjump invincibility glitch), just go for bento/EX dust pressure. I do suspect you're tick throwing too much, though (just as a guess, given your claims about how Kouma's get more mileage with less work -- because they do). I would only start doing that once they start respecting your blockstrings and gimmicks a fair bit.

In regards to defense: welcome to Melty Blood. :p There is something specific I can advise about F-Aoko's Blue Fire mixups, though -- pay attention to Aoko's sounds. Specifically, you're listening for airdashes -- that will tip you off that you'll need to keep blocking high.

I neglected to mention which moon phase on purpose.

And yeah I actually meant to reccomend Seifuku not Vermillion. Got mixed up.

Sion and Noel do look similar mang. You can't tell me it never crossed your mind.
The moons matter way too much, in some cases they are different characters -- with some wild power gaps. Picking F-S.Akiha would be a huge mistake compared to C, you would be going from one of the best characters to one of the worst in an instant.

And no I would never even dream of comparing the two, just because they both have uniforms, thighhighs, and guns they can't shoot properly. Noel is a garbage-tier waifu, and just thinking about this makes me want to peel the skin from my body.
ok not really but Noel still sucks

OK some of the hate SSBM got back then was absurd (and this was back when I was both actively posting on SRK and playing SSBM competetively, about a decade ago... fuck, I'm old). However, I don't remember anything that was even close to some of the slurs I saw thrown at old GG or MB or AH players way back when. That may be selective memory... but we can all agree that it was gross (and thankfully, something that has improved over the years... IMO, anyway).

Poison's up-forward kick air normal is definitely catching people off guard as an air-to-air - does anyone else in the game have one that works at an angle like that?

In melty blood the moons do matter but I find that if you're a newer player to the series you kinda roll with the moon phase that suits your play. So like Half-Moon might have some quirks that's awkward for people compared to the other two but in general yeah you're right. When I first started playing I went with F-Moon Nanaya because it was kinda like playing SF3 Yang that and Jiyuna's play with the character was exciting.

Abel I think.
But unlike Abel's apparently Poison's kick actually changes it's hitbox to be able to hit people on the ground at some point.

Marvel players love Smash tho

Most SF players that shit on Marvel on GAF are the same people who got furious at stream monsters begging for Marvel to get on stream, and made the mental connection that they're representative of the Marvel playerbase. Also the source of most of the "my game is better than yours" bitching, only made worse by retaliation. Every time you think it goes away, it rears its head again.

I don't know how long this has been going on, but Yipes is putting the beatdown on CJ at FGTV: http://www.twitch.tv/fgtvlive

Marvel players don't shit on Smash! Smash and Marvel are friends.

Also, Garry Kasparov, one of the world's finest at chess, has spoken in praise of competitive gaming before:

Dammit I'm horrible at CvS2, I need to stop thinking ST translates well to that game (I was just on stream).

I'll do better by GAF in ST I promise.

But Smash was my first love :(

Aight guys, some friends of mine opened up Versus Gaming Center, a dope new gaming center in S. FL. We're test streaming a free tournament tonight: AE/Marvel. Hail the grand return of Ryan Hunter on commentary and his first new steps towards becoming somebody again. Green Ace, Tayson and others are also in attendance. You can also watch my old school, rusty-ass team (Dante/Wesker/Magnus) get dusted while failing at ROM loops.
