I have no words for this, but a smile. Hah.

Guys let's talk about the stages, what is your favorite so far? I'm digging the Pilotwings, I love how it goes through the history of Pilotwings in a single stage (well, except for the N64 title).

I'm not sure about Palutena's stage so far, it looks too big, the characters are so tiny there that we will barely follow the action there, I hope it is the only huge stage in the game.

So far I think we haven't seen much originality in stages, they all recall some ideas from previous stages (except for the Mario Galaxy stage) but at least they don't look Brawl levels of bad.

I just wanted to point out that considering how massive Palutena's Temple is, it is a likely possibility that the camera's will be tailored to stay zoomed in at whatever point of the map the fighters are concentrated in if that makes sense?

Like, hypothetically Sakurai tells the stage creation team to designate multiple specific points as "micro stages" where the camera is programmed to behave as if each area is a stage unto itself.

I at least hope this or something like it is the case since it will be an eyestrain otherwise for an amazing looking map.

Palutena's Stage looks absolutely awful. I have no idea how it is going to be even slightly viable to battle on a stage as humungous as that one. I'm trying to refrain from judging until I see it properly, but... :'s

Tortimer Island is probably my favorite stage so far, it's just so imaginative and nice! I like the idea of a stage that changes up its layout every time you play on it. I'm also looking forward to Mario Galaxy, Spirit Train, the Elite Four stage, and Wily Castle - though I could do without the Yellow Devil showing up. I hope there's a toggle for bosses.

I have faith that Sakurai and his team will figure out a way to make it work. It is obviously for 4 player or 2v2 though and if all else fails, we can play that stage like Temple where people gravitate to certain spots.

I wouldn't count it out just yet!

Is there a link to DaBoss' character breakdowns anywhere? I checked the OP post but didn't see any and I wanted to go back and take a look at Pit one more time.

Was there an updated stain glass picture with Greninja and Charizard added? Sorry if it's been posted/old but I never saw if there was.

I like the Spirit Train a lot, it's very dynamic, as well as Reset Bomb Forest.

Spirit train is looking to be my favorite because I love Zelda and it has a lot going on, kind of a mix between a floating platform and walk off stage and the aesthetics are gorgeous.

Balloon trip, Pilotwings, Palutena's temple, & Skyloft are next in no particular order.

I really like the wrap around mechanic, Pilotwings looks like a more dynamic Lylat cruise, the new temple looks like it will be extremely fun because it's like 4 or 5 stages in one, & Skyloft is the next Delfino but Zelda themed so even better.

I also like Lumiose City.

The lighting is great and flying around in 60fps 3D is gonna be goooooood.

During the Direct at the "Technical Titbit" segment, on stage with Samus and Fox, is that the beetle item?

True. I am also fond of the reset bomb forest. For some reason, it seems to me to be visually the sharpest out of all the 3DS stages. That background is breathtaking; plus it turns into a complex platform stage which is really nice.

SuperSah: yes, it is the beetle.

Yeah, 60fps and 3D in Lumiose will be a first :/
Fuck Gamefreak, with all the money Pokemon makes them they should be able to get some good programmers. The framerate was a bad joke in X/Y, they couldn't even keep a steady 30fps in single battles :(

I'm a big fan of Dr. Wily's Castle, however I'm unsure about the Yellow Devil being there. Hopefully there will be an option that lets you toggle stage hazards on/off.

Yeah, it's a frigging joke. It was like 15fps in 3D during a singles battle. It was absolutely terrible.

Yeah, the background rocks. I hope when Viridi appears that she has a little speech of some sorts.

Considering that we have Final Destination mode, I'm not expecting a feature that let's you just switch hazards off on the normal version of the stage.

So am I the only person who likes the "C" version of Pac-man? I think it's a good mix of the old and the new.

Speaking objectively I think "D" is the best artstyle in general, but it looks too Tim Burton for what Pac-Man is supposed to be.

I feel like they're all flawed in some way.

A feels like western developed shovelware
B feels like it's trying to appeal to nostalgia nerds
C feels like it doesn't know what it's trying to convey.
D feels like it's trying to appeal to indie-game hipsters.

Watching over some NES REMIX stuff makes me think I'd be okay with a NES Remix stage taking the place of the Warioware stage.

Uhh no? If the console wasn't region locked a patch for the NTSC version still wouldn't work with my PAL copy.
Though I live in Canada, I don't understand why Project M doesn't support PAL versions of the game. I don't care that it is a beta and that they will support PAL versions in the "final release", it is a fan mod and should be inclusive. Every other fan game mod for the Wii that I know of supports all regions. Well the big ones.

I think supporting PAL copies of the game should be their highest priority.

Pacman is gonna be a Little Mac clone. Also he hasn't starred in a video game save as a playable character in those boxing games. Still, nice to see a Filipino character in Smash I guess.

Cos they be racists innit.

It's not so much not wanting to support it. It's having the time and manpower. Everything on the NTSC version would be put to a halt in order to port everything over. It's not just a simple matter of making files compatible, it's literally redoing a lot of stuff. Entire files and memory locations are different in the PAL version. This isn't like the other mods/games that exist on the Wii where they have to account for very minuscule differences between the actual fighting game characters.

It's smarter to wait until everything is done in NTSC before porting to PAL because then you don't need to do x2 the changes anytime something gets removed in a later update or changed at all.

So Mako, (translator of Mother 3, and works as a pro translator for Funimation) runs a localization blog. He was asked to translate Japanese comments about the latest Smash direct and Greninja.

Here's a selected list of the comments:

Reggie & Foreigners: “Fuck! Who cares about the damn 3DS version?! Release the console version first!”

I’m jumping with excitement like I’m a kid again

It looks like they’re hoping to please Japanese demand AND overseas demand. I totally like that!

If you’re gonna complain, you don’t gotta buy it

That Greninja video was so awesome!

I’m so happy!

You gotta play using THAT controller?

If you were a parent, which would you do?

1. Buy only the 3DS version, since your kid already has a 3DS

2. Spend tens of thousands of yen to buy the 3DS game plus the Wii U and the Wii U game

I’m so happy (Thank you, Nintendo!)

Charizard and Greninja, huh? That was an incredible Direct

Fanboys: “60 FPS & full HD or bust”

I don’t think he mentioned anything about 1080p

Charizard and Greninja were announced for Smash Bros. When I saw the video, for a second I mistook it for an announcement about Mewtwo. So here’s my question: personally, I still have faith since Mewtwo has a mega-evolution and the movie. Do you think Mewtwo’s spot in the roster would be announced after the game goes on sale?

Uh oh I can’t stop my excitement

So much awesomeness. I’m gonna buy the Wii U and 3DS versions. I’ll end up broke for sure, but I’m gonna buy ‘em.

Why’s there a Nintendo Direct this early on a weekday morning?

They must’ve wanted a ninja

Overslept, missed it

Wii U version all the way. Are they idiots, selling the crappy 3DS version first?

Greninja is even more ninja-ier than I imagined

Just make a Pokemon Smash Bros. already!

Announcement of Wii U’s death

Nintendo Direct’s over, back to bed I go

Couldn’t they have just announced all this in Famitsu instead?

Pretty good, for Nintendo

The different-generation Rockmen was the biggest surprise!

We can at least have cross-platform saves… right?

It’s gonna be way suckier on the 3DS

He said the 3DS version will be 60 FPS with some things at 30 FPS – is the Wii U all-60 FPS though?

Did you clicked the link?

They are no different than what American fanbase are.

Almost seems like reading regular youtube comments...with slightly less stupidty.
KuGsj.gif

that was really funny :D they are the same

EDIT: new page, awesome!!

There was a comment that I didn't include about how Greninja was included because foreigners love Ninjas way more than Japanese people did that had me laughing out loud.
