Do you guys think we'll see the entire starting roster before the game releases? Assuming the whole game doesn't get leaked beforehand, of course.

Of course.

I think we'll get a couple more newcomers at E3 (probably Mii and Pac-Man) plus a few more vets either in random pics or at E3 (Meta Knight, Falco, Ice Climbers, either Ness or Lucas).

The rate of reveals seems right on track to have the starting roster announced for the 3DS release.

They've been revealed after the first release of the game. As in for Brawl, as soon as the Japanese release date hit, Sakurai started revealing unlockable stuff on the Dojo, but marked them as spoilers.

So for people in Americas and PAL regions did have the chance to know the full roster before they got to play it.

I highly doubt this will get a different release dates in different regions. I think this will launch worldwide on the same day.

I wish that meant using Japan time for the date. >_>

So if it released in Japan at July 27th (made up date) midnight (not sure what timezone that is), it would release on the 26th in every other timezone at the same time.

I wonder how many new comers will be revealed after launch, brawl had 12 (14 if you count trainers pokemon separate) revealed before launch and 4 (Toon Link, Lucario, Wolf, Rob) hidden with the rest of the unlockables being vets. I imagine it'll be similar in this game especially with these cinematic trailers we've gotten for each newcomer so far. If any newcomer remains a secret before the game releases then will Sakurai not give them a reveal cinematic?

They'll probably have a cinematic for all newcomers. Maybe unlocked in the movie section after unlocking the character or maybe it plays after "Challenger Approaching" appears.

Every newcomer will get a cinematic reveal even if they are secret characters. That's my assumption anyway, my bet is we should count on it. Chances are they will be some sort of unlockable extra to view in the game at anytime. Sakurai more or less said these types of cinematic scenes would be replacing the Subspace cut scenes.

E3 - Pac-Man

Smash Bros. Direct #2 (July) - Mii (revealed near beginning, detailed by Sakurai), Shulk (ends the Direct like Greninja)

Hidden - Palutena, Chrom, Chorus Men

Not officially... but yeah, we totally knew Brawl's roster by a couple of days before the Japanese release.

We really don't know for sure if Toon Link or Luigi is default, they could have just been revealed before launch due to REASONS and may actually be locked in the game. I assume Mega Man and Pac Man will be unlockable as well

I hope Luigi remains unlockable. He's a part of a tradition now where he's one of the first and easiest unlockable characters and I think of it as an inside joke almost =] (excluding character unlocks from SSE, I think)

It's kind of funny how in SSE two of the traditional unlocked first characters are some of the last you can get

As for Palutena; I think the debate's kinda moot since I think that she'll be in.

I really don't care if Ridley is in Smash or not, so I guess I'd be on team too big. I don't get why people want him in so much, and I love the Metroid series.

As for the gematsu leaks in general, I tend to buy them. Considering Namco is helping out with this game, I suspect there's a lot more potential for leaks than the previous developments. I suspect that the leaker didn't specify Greninja since if he/she were like me and really never gave a crap about pokemon and just saw pics or videos of it, I would've described it as "Pokemon from new game" too.

Since Mother Brain would get the same complaints as Ridley, Dark Samus seems like the logical choice.

I imagine her being light/mid-weight and floaty, but also fast and hard hitting. Potentially could make clones of herself or infect foes with Phazon as a gimmick.

Smash 5 has the same roster as Smash 4, so probably not.

Smash 5 is lame, same roster as Smash 4 and it doesn't even come with Smash Run mode.
