In what world a model that has a completely plain face with a texture pasted on it

is better than a face with modeled eyes, nose, mouth?

To be perfectly honest, of those two shots I do think the model in Ys looks actually quite a bit better, with neither being very good or bad to me. I think the attempt to model the eyes nose and mouth with the graphics being on the lower end makes it look worse than the painted on look Ys has. And it is part of the style, the Ys model closely matches the anime character drawing below, the design was not meant to have modeled features.

The two things you are comparing are design decision differences, so all you can really get in response are different opinions on what people prefer.

E: Top of page? Get Ys: MoC on sale tomorrow and decide for yourself about the graphics! Also Muramasa for less than the price of my lunch today.

Should i close my eyes because the game is good? I'm the first to like many terrible looking games, but i won't deny that a game has bad graphics only because i like it.

It's a valid complaint. The other games pull back the camera to hide the flaws. There are better looking games no doubt.

Told you guys Ys might get a PS+ discount on top of the current one :P Not sure if I should pick it up

Is it bad that I want to pick up Atelier Meruru Plus when I've only played like an hour of
Atelier Totori Plus?

Glad I got that Dinosaur game and Luftrausers instead of Muramasa Rebirth when SCEA was doing the Spend $60 Get $10 back. NOW I'll get it ZeroAKA >___>

I need a bigger memory card

LOLOLOLOLOL.

Freedom Wars is so retarded with their demo.

>2 months since Soul Sacrifice that has an "early ticket for Freedom War demo" as preorder/first print bonus.
>announces the date of announcement of demo release date (5/22)

They might as well say "demo will be same date as the game and those with the early ticket 1 week before".

-____-

Lol isn't the game releasing in the summer...

Oof. Muramasa, MGS, and Ys both look really good, but I just bought Tearaway and was going to get some Blazblue DLC later today…

If I can only get one game from the sale, what would be the option that have me the best value?

Yeah, that was good advice to wait. What are the Atelier games like?

What may or may not look better is just a matter of tastes, a model with a modeled face is objectively more complex than one with just a texture on it.

This is graphics that successfully convey the art style

That YS model conveys nothing.

No idea since I've only played an hour and that was a few months ago. It looked nice though :P

Native Res + AA = It's beautiful ;___;
Why can't more devs do this?

Something to keep in mind YsIV/Celceta development wasn't originally planned for the Vita. It was only a year or two ago where Falcom transition from the Ark of Napishtim engine (which is around 10 years old).

Yeah, I'm not getting into this Valhalla Knights 3 argument again...

Glad I didn't that Dinosaur game and Luftrausers instead of Muramasa Rebirth when SCEA was doing the Spend $60 Get $10 back. NOW I'll get it ZeroAKA >___>
Time and Eternity is also on sale, and it's even cheaper than the price you bought CoD at. I don't think this is a coincidence.

Man that PSN sale is ridiculous. I ain't even mad Muramasa ain't PS+ US for may since now I can just outright own it for cheap instead of having to renew my PS+ down the line to play it again or probably purchasing it for a higher price later.

Let me just have Rorona damnit ! I know it is rumored to come out but my ocd won't let me play the second or third part of a trilogy, however loosely connected it is :-S

The power of PhyreEngine.

I don't understand why more developers don't create their own optimized and multiplatform engine and then make all the games on that engine, it seems the obvious thing to do to me, i mean creating a good engine requires time and money, but once it's done there's a huge saving of time and money.

about silent Hill book of memories .. is it worth getting for 9 $ ?
If you:
-don't expect a survival horror(it's not)
-don't expect a pure dungeon crawler(it's not)
-don't mind some faults, some repetition and hard difficulty

Then you may like it, it's a game with many original ideas, it's a mix of survival horror and dungeon crawler with some faults, i liked it but i think to be in the minority(but it also had a strong hate campaign because it's not a survival horror)

mmmm no.

i mean it's not TERRIBLE... but you can spend your 9$ so much better in the current sale. I'd say 7 dollar max on BoM. if theres nothing else yo ucan spend your money on.

can get maybe 2-3 hours out of it before it becomes repetitive and boring

Because it's waste of time and money and you need god tier programmers to make something better than commercially available engines.

I got a lot more than 2-3 hours out of it.
If people buy it, they should buy the DLC too. It does a lot for the core gameplay in terms of weapon variety, monster variety, etc.

Edit:
Wow @ the new sale -- now if this was the sale that come out that one weekend, the guy would've been right about it being pretty epic.
It's a shame the Muramasa DLC probably won't be discounted though (right?)...

Hmm, been looking into Atelier more and am very interested, but I wish there was a demo of some kind out so I could make sure. $20 is definitely out of impulse buy range, and it has been actually pretty difficult finding solid info about it. To confirm, Totori is a fine starting point and the game has dual audio, correct? God it looks so good on vita it is making me want it even more. Can't deny those screenshots posted (though I still think Ys looks better than Valhalla Knights!)

yeah i got more than 2-3 hours out of it. i certainly played it for longer than that because i was enjoying it.. regardless of enjoying it, i noticed the repetition some where around that time frame. maybe 4-5 hours.... but either way it's not like it stays fresh for long. it's not a bad game per se, just boring. like I said there are better ways to spend the 9$ with this sale

i should try the dlc.

As much as I am all for people buying the wonderful Muramasa and Vanillaware getting more money, please remember that it is in the IGC for Europe so the chances of it appearing in the IGC for North America are not low. Don't want to read a thread full of salty posts ;)

The Atelier games play differently from many other JRPGs. It puts heavy emphasis on crafting for everything. You can't just spam skills in battle - Totori has to use items that must all be synthesized by the player. There's also a time limit for quests that isn't a problem in terms of story progression for the most part but can still get annoying. If that doesn't sound appealing to you, you should probably stay away from it.

I just got a Vita. I kept trying to buy Spelunky, but it was telling me my credit card is invalid, so I went to Amazon and bought some cards and filled the wallet up that way and bought:

Spelunky
Persona 4 Golden
Resident Evil DC
Metal Gear Solid
Parasite Eve
Silent Hill
Dino Crisis
Front Mission 3

But then I looked in my purchase history and it is saying I bought Spelunky 4 times, which is lame because it told me the card was invalid the 3 times I tried it, plus why would it let me buy 4 of a digital game anyway? The charges haven't showed up yet, so hopefully they won't go through.

its pretty dirt cheap for PS Plus member plus Vanillaware is one of tha bes.

Also dont be so sure of IGC. We still havent gotten MGS HD, Lumines ES and others that have been given out on EU for more than a year already.

Welcome to VitaGAF!

P4G is actually going on sale tomorrow, but it's totally worth the full price and more. It's one of the only games that I bought both a digital and physical (limited edition) version of.

Sale price is only $5 cheaper than Amazon's $20 for me.

Tempting price on Mururu but I haven't played Totori yet (memory card woes) and I'd have jumped at Muramasa if it wasn't EU PS+.

Wonder if Playstation Now will let you play Dragon's Dogma on Vita..

been playing FFX HD on vita, what a wonderful port, i didnt think i would get so hooked after playing it once when it came out but its got its claws on me :D

Probably just cross-buy/demo versions or whatever

Got lots of buying to do tomorrow. Fucking 32GB card though. Already deleted Uncharted, probably going to have to delete something else too to hold the new games :(

That sale is crazy. Muramasa is quite tempting, I'm not sure if they're baiting a few more sales before it goes on PS+ (if it ever does, not sure how EU PS+ affects things) but I might just bite anyway.

Guys, I'm from Brazil and I'm going to Orlando next month. Is it still easy to find an old version OLED screen PS Vita? I mean new, unopened, at stores.
