US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

how good is the rising port on PS3? Wondering if i should get that on pc instead? But the controls will suck...hm

I think after the Bayonetta debacle they said they would develop all multiplatform games for PS3 first, so Vanquish was the first game when that strategy in mind. I'm certain that they continued that with MGR since it's the same engine. I loved it on PS3, no complaints

I'm getting the Tales deal for sure.

Really wish Persona 4 Arena + DLC was on sale instead of Golden. /: Would like to pick up that content on the cheap again after migrating from my 360.

Will pick up Rising for sure. Perfect time to pick up a relatively short game that had a really fun demo.

Aw yes, this is the kind of sale that I was waiting for!

Yeah. Trigger may be my favorite game of all time. It just doesn't feel right all that slowdown and loading. It's worth spending an extra 20 dollars, I can't even recommend it on the cheap there.

I think what makes it unbearable for me is the fact that I have played it on SNES already, but I think for a new player, the load times (which are significantly better since it runs off a hard drive/memory card) will probably be much more bearable.

Does anyone know if setting the disc speed to fast in the settings menu helps at all? I've already got the DS version, so I'm asking for other people. But I am somewhat curious if it would help FF V and VI, as I don't own those on anything.

Golden is the better game. ToS and its sequel have some really shitty characters along with cool dudes like Kratos. Collette in particular is beyond redeeming.

damn man you went on an unneeded tirade. The topic was about voice actors and the quality of said acting.

Exactly, coming from playing the SNES version countless times is what makes it unplayable for me. LIke you said, New users may be blissfully unaware, however it's why we're posting to let them know much smoother versions exists, plus extra content on the DS version.

If budget is a huge concern, yeah PS version is an option, glad it goes a bit faster, but it still would be too much for me.

Am I reading that wrong? ToS came out waaaay before P4.

I wouldn't even compare ToS' dubs to P4's. The former is just better :/
Tales of Symphonia having a better dub than P4?

I mean, I could buy ToV, but ToS? I came back to that game recently and I am completely not seeing it. Hearing it, rather.

So many games I want to get, too bad the Memory Cards' pricing fucking sucks and I won't bother removing and adding games everytime I want to play them, just not convenient.

I own the majority of these games either physically or digitally already, hmm...

I prefer to go physical whenever the option, does anyone have a list of digital-only titles yet? Also, will the accompanying DLC to said game on sale also be discounted? I'd like to get the Muramasa DLC, but I somehow doubt they'll slash that shit too. These prices are nice and everything, but it's kind of lame that sometimes the DLC ends up being more expensive than the actual game that is on sale. Both game and DLC should be on sale like how it' done on Steam. I guess they have a bit more to learn still.

Get P4G anyone that doesn't have it.

I'll get Danganronpa and probably wouldn't have even given it a glance if it weren't for Persona 4 making me play Persona 3 and wanting more games of the style on my Vita.

Second-guessing myself on Muramasa. I don't have a Vita yet, and there's no real reason to get it digitally over physically with the kind of genre it is.

It'll probably get discounted to that price in the future, right?

These are some awesome sales, and I'd buy all of the Vita games if I didn't already have. I'm debating if I should pick up Symphonia. The price is more than right, but I'm wondering if I'll have time for it/enjoy it. I never played it before, so I don't have any nostalgia for it. Maybe it'll be better to just stick to the newer Tales games?

Sometimes I wish they have this kind of deals in Asia PSN and not give us games in Japanese native language.

Would love to give Armoured Core V and some of the Vita games a go.

I put in about 25 hours into P3P before I gave up. I really hated Tartarus. I reluctantly bought P4G when it first went on sale last year for $20 and I really enjoyed it. The dungeons still get tedious towards the end but it is muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better than the garbage in p3p. It's still randomly generated, but they're shorter and they feel like they're more significant to the story. P4G also has a lot more social/story to balance out the dungeon crawling unlike P3P

Better and the definitive version. Not watered down and enhanced vs 3's change of design vs the console version. The whole story is there in P3P but it's not 1:1 to the console release.

Persona 4 is one of the best damn games I've ever played. I put 120 hours into it (2 playthroughs for the platinum trophy), and I was genuinely sad when I was finished, because I wanted to experience more with that cast of characters.

P4G's dungeons are much better than Tartarus. They're no example of great, but they are miles better and miles more easily tolerated.

Well I know what I'm picking up tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation guys!

crap, was about to grab them just now and it's starts TOMM. didn't read closely enough. at least i grabbed some other PS+ games while i was there.

Given that Ultimax is coming out likely in September, I'd suggest waiting.

Can anyone chime in on the Neptunia game? I haven't played one before.

Well it really depends on your definition of "worth it"
If you're hoping for some traditional JRPG epic, its not gonna deliver that. It has menu based towns, a pretty good battle system, rather repetitive dungeons, a fairly likeable cast and funny script with a fairly nonsensical silly little console warz story.

I'd recommend getting the Atelier games over it if you havent played them and Symphonia HD to a lesser extent before you consider buying it. It's leagues better than something like Time & Eternity though

well at least ToS has dual audio, which is infinitely better than a dub
Oh lord... Are you one of those? =P

The only thing y'alls differing opinions tell me is that the dubs of the two games is comparable. Considering how good P4's is, anything even close to that is amazing. I wish Atelier had similar casting star power.

honestly, yeah. I went back to ToS recently too and the VAing was as great as I remembered all those years ago. I think P4's dub is serviceable at best. dat Troy Baker tho. Amazing job with Kanji.

Totally beg to differ. The time lost waiting for things to load alone is worth spending the extra money. Not too expensive for a Cheap Wii or DS these days anyway.

load times when the original didn't have any is unacceptable. But if people really wanna spend the money, I say let 'em. Hopefully, as a last resort.

I'm definitely getting ToS, as this way, I can keep my CE unopened for the next 25 years, then try to sell it for at least the MSRP and weep as no one buys it.

Also, CC = instabuy. I'm on the fence about CT, as I don't own a DS, but I do own a Super Nintendo and I could find a copy for ~$70. Maybe.

Also, Ys: Memories. Because Ys.

Annnnnd, I'm thinking about Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers.

Everything else I either physically own (DMC: HD Collection, HSG: World Invitational, MGR, MGS HD Collection, Muramasa: Rebirth, P4G, SCV, ZoE HD), or I'm not interested in (everything else).

literally every VA in P4 has been in an Atelier game, with JYB voicing no fewer than a dozen different characters across the series :p
