US PSN: Golden Week Sale Celebrates Japanese Games

Is Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist Dusk worth getting?

Yes, just make sure you know what you're getting into beforehand, check out some game play vids. If you're okay that it's english dub only.

At that price it's totally worth it IMO. Very fun, and Escha and Logy is there when you're done.

All right, bought Ys in the end. Atelier can wait..

I can't see it getting discounted again anytime soon. If you're okay with waiting possibly 6-12 months and even then I doubt it drops under that price.

So, I bought the Metal Gear HD collection off of this sale, and MGS2 does not hold up to my memories of it. The controls are obtuse and confusing, and the gameplay is really rough. I'm scared that if I load up MGS3 it might tarnish my rose colored glasses for one of my favorite games of all time.

On the bright side, I also picked up Hot Shots (my first HS, or golf game for that matter) and am loving every minute of it.

I have been waiting to pick up the Atelier games, hoping they went on sale. I even almost broke down and got one a couple weeks ago. Glad I waited. Picked up both and have been favoring Totori over Demon Gaze all week.

Have been curious about Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory and that series, thought I had until tomorrow to decide and then saw someone mention the sale ends today and immediately bought. Gah.

Figure this is as good of a place as any... with all of my recent acquisitions, I must hasten my acquisition of a larger memory card... but damn are prices all over the place. I can get an 8gb at best buy for $20 (plus I have a $5 gift thing so 15 + tax) but that is still exceptionally small (currently running off the 4gb one that came with the system... which has P4G on it and nothing else).

Amazon has 16GB ones for $42 which is looking to be my best bet in the price/performance ratio (keep in mind, I already over indulged on the sale so I can't splurge for a 32GB or heaven forbid a 64GB).

Is amazon going to be my best bet?

Amazon Warehouse. Seriously. They might be sporadic, but I purchased a 32 BG at 46 dollars last year. The cards aren't always in stock, but persistence will pay off there unless you find an immediately better deal.

The store says it ends today, maybe updating in the afternoon like they update on Tuesdays?

So the sale will still be going ON the 5th and end that night, correct? I don’t get paid until then, and there’s quite a few games here I’ve been wanting to pick up.

Good question Terrenon! This sale is scheduled from the Tuesday, 4/29 publish to the Tuesday, 5/6 publish. So, you should roughly one day to grab whatever you want! (°∀°)b Let us know what you get!

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to get Ys. If I get it, I'll be out $20, but if I don't, Tizoc and ohlawd won't let me hear the end of it for months. Decisions...

Gotta say I didn't like Muramasa on the Wii, mainly because the controls were so shit, well now with the Vita version the controls are less shit. Still not good, but an improvement. The game is also more fitting for short bursts on the Vita than long hours on the Wii, So I'm enjoying it quite a lot atm.

Gonna try Ys soon and see if it's as good as everyone says.

Just so you know, you can fully customize the controls. I didn't realize this until I was halfway through the game, but you can even switch how blocking/crouching/charging works to your own preference.

Well unless you can find the retail copy for similar price or cheaper....
Get it now or you'll regret it for the rest of year. I'm still waiting for Ys 1+2 to go on sale again since I need to add to my Vita as a matter of principal.

I had forgotten how solid the dub was for Totori, specifically the actress for Totori herself. One of the few efforts I can think of for a character of that nature, both in Japanese or English, that isn't at all crass or overacted.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out. Maybe I'll go ahead and pick up an 8gb for 15 while I wait for a good deal on a 32gb just to hold me over. Only having a single game on the card currently is brutal (though it is keeping me very focused on a single game).

Alright so for my first haul I spent $47.96 and I got these

Chrono Cross
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z (PS Vita)
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection (PS Vita)
Muramasa Rebirth
SoulCalibur V
Tales of Symphonia Chronicles
Vagrant Story

Then I got these three today.
Ys: Memories of Celceta
Atelier Meruru Plus: The Apprentice of Arland
Atelier Totori Plus: The Adventurer of Arland

For a total of $106.73, damn. Still, these are really good deals. Hope none of these come to PS Plus any time soon though.

Now that I think about it, how is the FPS in Totori/Meruru, and is the new content REALLY worth it for those with the PS3 versions? I mainly have avoided them as a matter of practicality with those games unplayed so far, but I may reconsider if the performance is the same and the content that substantial. Then again, it's probably enough reason to just keep waiting to see just how low it can go (though Tecmo Koei does seem particularly conservative with this sale relative to the others.)

Bought Muramasa. It was a steal at that price.
Europe got it on PS+ and I'm not planning to play the game until a few weeks so I hope they don't put it on US PS+.

Oh, good to know, thanks.
Okay last day to make this decision: to get Muramasa Rebirth for $7.49 or see if it comes to PS+ IGC. What you guys think?
I think it's worth it. I think the game really fits the Vita, and it's fun on short bursts.

I'm on the fence about Muramasa Rebirth. I can see it being a free game on PS+ in the near future.
I'm not sure you should wait for something that might never come.

I'm trying to get Muramasa Rebirth before the store updates, but it keeps throwing a "You are not eligible to purchase or download this content." at me. Any advice?
