The Silver Lining of Justice just dropped a nuke on Donald Sterling.

- Fined $2.5M and will be donated to anti-discrimination groups
- Won't be able to attend any NBA association/governor's meeting
- Banned from any LA Clippers activities
- NBA will try to force Sterling to sell the team, Silver says he won't stop until he does

Scorched earth policy seems like the move here. Silver doesn't want anyone even approaching the thought that the NBA is passive on racism.

Hopefully they did so because of all the suffering he's caused to others, and not some random phone call that was questionably wiretapped in the first place.

I despise him and his statements, but I'm not sure that's the right move. I mean, can they really force him to sell the club? I wouldn't be shocked if this ends in a big fat lawsuit.

Oh well, hard to feel sorry for him.

From what I remember reading, the league can call a vote of the other owners to strip Sterling from the team and have the NBA run it until a new owner can be found.

ESPN legal advisor seems to think they can.

I'm glad they did this. Fuck that racist piece of shit.

All I know is Adam Silver better not get showered with boos (the new Stern heel effect, I mean) at the draft. He needs a standing ovation.

I'm happy about the quick resolution, but will still never understand how this guy got away with holding that position for so long.

Yes. It's in the league constitution. If 3/4 of the owners vote to force him to sell the team, the NBA can force it.
